A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

Cheers all!

All our soups are healthy, as are the wholemeal lewd rolls. The croissants are only made with fresh organic butter and the hot chocolate with the very best organic, fairtrade cocoa beans. For the muffins I cannot vouch, not being a muffin eater.

Sickness is rife at Chateau Racing, too. Dh has just been told he will have to have another chest x-ray, ahving had 'flu' since mid December. With real cough, fever, etc. Very depressing for him and me. DD is now quite worried and her most frequent phrase is 'Papa est malade'. We immediately started to fear the worst, but we haven't even got a date for the x-ray. Why can't they make a date, then start you worrying??

Actually more worried about RacingRabbit, who has a huge swelling under his chin for which he is receiving antibiotics. He was suspiciously easy to catch for his dose just now. I fear that does not bode well for long term rabbit. He is so small and cuddly, too.

mistlethrush · 12/02/2009 20:12

I am sorry everyone is plagued at the moment. We're not, but struck with extreme tiredness - thank goodness its half term next week and ds can SLEEP - A LOT !!!!! He was too tired to eat properly this evening (which is very unlike him!) - then he gets into a 'frantic' mood which is his only way of managing to stay awake enough to get to bed - trouble is that when he's in this mood its more difficult and therefore more time consuming to get him into bed!

Racingsnake · 12/02/2009 20:24

Yes, the more tired they are, the more wild they get! Perhaps you need Mellors to step in and have a stern word?

TrulyMadBadandDeeply · 12/02/2009 20:25

So sorry to hear about the illness and affliction which is spread across the land. ((Hugs)), ((supportive pats on the arm)) and ((friendly waves)) to you all and especially to Amber, as that long drive to see DH must be exhausting.

As racingsnake says, everything in the tea room is made from fresh, fairly-traded, organic and (where possible) locally-sourced ingredients. So everything is positively beneficial to health.

DCMB - What's this about getting free stuff in return for doing reviews?

I am a shallow person and therefore believe that booze and chocolate provide the answer to many of life's problems. Anyone for a glass of champagne and a Mars bar?

cmotdibbler · 12/02/2009 20:32

Sounds good TMBD.

Big hugs and supportive pats to all the plague houses.

I finally joined Facebook. Weirdly, an ex found me in hours and has sent me an effusive message about how he's been looking for me, and had Googled me and found my photo on the company website

teafortwo · 12/02/2009 20:32

oh yes pleeeeeeeeeeaaaase madbad XXX

We spent this afternoon looking around a school ready for September when Milk will be of starting school age. The meeting was very simply organised but warm and welcoming - I liked it!

teafortwo · 12/02/2009 20:37
TrulyMadBadandDeeply · 12/02/2009 20:37

Hmm, Facebook. I joined recently and now have some friends but haven't yet been tracked down by any exes, effusive or otherwise. Should I be disappointed or relieved?

Cin, cin!

Donk · 12/02/2009 20:39

Is the kettle on yet?
Anyone want a carrot

UniS · 12/02/2009 20:41

Ohhh, chuck us a mars bar TMBD. ta.
Up chucking continued. The boy did get better at being sick into bowl rather than his lap, even did his first ( of many no doubt) being sick in toilet. And got praise for being such a big boy :-) then upchucked on Dhs shoulder and his own PJs. Now in bed, with draw sheet and a bowl by bed.

I'm off to catch up with terry Pratchett on iPlayer. see you later.

Did any one see the prog about dreams teh other night? V interesting. seems I d a couple of things when I'm dreaming that are not quite as normal as I thought they were.

Racingsnake · 12/02/2009 20:43

I joined Facebook. Can't remember why. No-one has sought me out at all and have made no new friends. Haven't actually visited very often!

Tea, how old will Milk be in September? Is school compulsory at that age, or is it more like nursery? Will it be full days?

Ws has recently informed me that she is not tired, does not want her 'biburon' and is not going to bed. She is now snoring rather loudly.

cmotdibbler · 12/02/2009 20:44

I don't know TMBD - it's just rather odd really. We were good friends for a long time before and after

Cin, Cin.

Ooh a carrot nibble - thanks Donk

teafortwo · 12/02/2009 20:44

Well... last night I was rather excited and flattered to get a fb 'be my friend' invite from one of the star/cool boys from my school days. I clicked on his page to look for clues to see if it was fine to accept and was astounded to discover he had close to 800 friends!!!!

Donk · 12/02/2009 20:48

(any alcohol will send me to sleep, and then you'ld all have to put up with me snoring)

mistlethrush · 12/02/2009 20:54

Certainly a glass of champagne would go down nicely thank you!

Tea - what was the school like then?

cmotdibbler · 12/02/2009 20:54

Did you join the MN group Racing ? I do have one friend from there (have met her in RL too at a breastfeeding picnic)

DS does 'I'm not sleepy, I'm not sleepy' - snoring in seconds. His current going to sleep thing is that I tell him a story 'out of my head' on a subject of his choice

TrulyMadBadandDeeply · 12/02/2009 20:58

How do you join the MN group, then? Do you have to be invited?

Donk · 12/02/2009 21:01

Thanks TMBD

That was much needed - I have just survived the last day of school before the holiday in one school (extremely hard going with hyper kids who think they shouldn't have to work) - and tomorrow I get to do it all over again in another school! (aargh!)

teafortwo · 12/02/2009 21:02

RS - Milk will be 3 in September - She will be starting nursery school. It is half days for a year then full days after that. This section of the school lasts for three years. They enter primary at 6 years old.

It is all play based prep for entering into primary school. There seems to be a bigger emphasis on learning how to be a good student than the FS and it seems more structured too but bar that it is pretty similar to in the UK.

Pre-writing and reading skills, basic maths, how to work with others, how to follow teacher's instructions... etc...etc... are all big parts of the day.

cmotdibbler · 12/02/2009 21:02

You apply to join it, and then get approved by the mods - it's a closed group

TrulyMadBadandDeeply · 12/02/2009 21:14

Cmot - So one could be blackballed?

cmotdibbler · 12/02/2009 21:17

I don't think so - it's just to stop DH's seeing your username (possibly). They let me join anyway, so they can't be fussy

DontCallMeBaby · 12/02/2009 21:25

MadBad - the site is qype.co.uk (actually qype.com will redirect to there, you're not one of the overseas contingent are you?) I can't figure out what the rewards are at the moment - they ran out of last year's (I was due some promotional bits like a mug and a frisby which never turned up) - but it might be worth signing up and seeing if you can figure it out.

I've also had a £50 Amazon voucher for doing 50 reviews, and am signed up for a £50 Virgin voucher for 1,000 points, but have rather run out of steam. Getting the initial voucher and qualifying for the iPod was quite easy as there were only a couple of us reviewing stuff locally, and you get 20 points for a first review, only 8 for a subsequent one.

Tips are - make sure you're signed up for challenges, even if you're signed up to the site you need to be specifically signed up to a challenge to qualify; read their emails properly - my friend didn't get her stuff because she didn't register her address when asked to do so.

I was actually extremely ticked off with them until today, as I've waited ages for my stuff, but now I'm quite happy.

Donk · 12/02/2009 22:37

Quiet in here again - what is it tonight?

ThumbLoveWitch · 12/02/2009 22:54

evenin all - anyone left?
I think I must also be in a house of Lazar - DS seems to be under the weather with a snuffle. Nothing awful but it makes him super-clingy and less able to sleep - plus he snores like a grampus (normally he is a very silent sleeper).

I have been invited 5 times to join Facebook and 3 to join Bebo - I haven't done it. I have ishoos with them, although I am on Friends Reunited. My ishoos are probably a bit silly but I am paranoid.
