A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

Cheers all!

just wanted to add a message in with my proper name so that anyone who wants to can see my profile pics of my lovely boy as well - not that I am a PFB or anything! [cough]

thumbwitch · 11/02/2009 22:18

feel strangely slightly soiled by the proximity of my last post to DCMB's about bum sex...

UniS · 11/02/2009 22:39

they call it keep fit, not kill yourself by exercise, maybe I'm doing it wrong. Kind of fun tho, mostly mums apart from teh fit young student who runs it. How come I'm the only one going the wrong way most the time

Life in the pox ridden house of Unis is coming to the end of another day. Boy V spotty now, just about keeping him itch free with double base. Tomorrow he gets to go and play with his friends mum while I do the last session of a course I'm on and his friend is at preschool. he can;t do crèche and I would like to manage 90% attendance on this course if I can, missing tomorrow would bring me down to 80% and thats minimum allowed to complete.

Thumb- love the clothy bum your boy has, brings back memories...

mistlethrush · 11/02/2009 22:56

UniS - ds had cloth - but you wouldn't have noticed - indeed, when he went into proper pants, all his trousers started falling down as he didn't have anything holding them up anymore!

TW -

zazen · 12/02/2009 02:01

My goodness - big hugs to you amber, hope your Dh is fit as a fiddle in no time

and hugs to JM as well - hope the sitz bath works - are you taking arnica and bellis perennis? I remember the days when i didn't know what one of those was.

Well done UniS on keeping the itches of the pox at bay - he sounds like he's over it.

I've got to go to bed now, so thanks for the ot-chocolate whoever made that ginormous pot. it's delishious

G'night all. BTW your lil ones are fabby!
might try and 'do' a piccy of DD tomorrow.

cmotdibbler · 12/02/2009 08:59

To complete my week of joy, I now have to go to a crummy meeting tomorrow where there will be shouting. And on Sunday I have to take DS to a soft play party. I'm not sure which I am dreading more.....

DS spent an hour this morning being a chick hatching out of an egg. Strange child

teafortwo · 12/02/2009 09:43

cmot - Almond croissants yum! Shall I pour the coffee?

Milk is also going through a phase of pretending to be animals. Yesterday on the way home from nursery she insisted on clucking most of the way and occasionally gave a knowing laugh then explained "Yes... chicken!"

cmotdibbler · 12/02/2009 09:50

That would be lovely. The croissants are from a fab patisserie near us, and it is a very good thing that I can't eat them in RL. I did have chips and mayo in Amsterdam yesterday so feel fat today...

We did see chicks hatching last year, so he remembers from then what happens. Plus one of the nursery nurses has chickens and we buy eggs from her - he keeps hoping that she will give him chick eggs

teafortwo · 12/02/2009 10:07

That is lovely, cmot. I will show this to Milk - I think she will like it!

daisy99divine · 12/02/2009 11:56

Ha ha ha!
love all the photos and Thumb, your DS is luverly and DCMB wow at beautiful little girl but hats off for the snowman

CMOT sorry week is ghastly

JM keep up all forms of medication that you can

Amber hope DH is faring well

Mistle - get that DH on the google board! how deeply annoying

UniS glad spots are going and yes, get on that course, you need a % or two in hand don't you!

Tea love your links!

DaisyBoy hasn't been a chick but spends some time "growing" from acorn to tree and loves Ballet (though his version would make Dame Margot blush!)

Yum to coffee and almond croissant!

laters lovelies

DCMB I have decided to avoid the bum sex thread... I rarely venture out of the tearoom and that is the sort of thing that led MadBad to being incarcerated in the home for the bewildered
at 80 and being the queen I think that sort of thing is just beneath one!

OP posts:
mistlethrush · 12/02/2009 11:58

T42 - AAAaaahhhh!!! The chick that we had that looked like that was called Marble. She lived until she was about 12 I think. Many years of this she didn't bother laying any eggs, although she did try crowing for a while when we didn't have a cockerell - she wasn't very good, but she was doing her best!

It was magical having hens sitting when I was little. Sometimes you could hear several of the eggs cheeping and I was always on tenterhooks with when they would actually arrive. Sometimes I even had to lend a hand - when the egg shell was particularly tough or the chick had run out of energy. Once they were out it would be a rush to get them back under mum to warm up and dry out. They are amazingly resilient - as are ducklings - every now and then one would get walked on accidently - much squeeking, quick shake and then back to normal . In fact, ds is a bit like that with the falling over most of the time - I think other parents are amazed at my attitude which is a bit blase and 'quick, pick yourself up before you get wet' rather than a rush over and commiserate - I am, of course, on hand for commiseration when it is really required, but he mostly bounces!

Another sucessful morning on the breakfast front - and using a large bowl, but having two small portions one after another (and the portion with yoghurt as the second one!)

Its snowing gently here again today - although not enought to settle at the moment.

Croissants - yum yum. How about a cheese and mushroom one for lunch - anyone else? I suppose the Tearoom could probably stretch to a cheese and ham one too?

amber32002 · 12/02/2009 12:27

Splendid, a bag of carrots!

and some hugs, which are much needed - thank you all.

If only they'd put him in a hospital in easy drive of the house. Now I'm going back and forth 200 miles a day plus trying to run the business and family and everything else and I'm SO tired. So a cup of tea would also be appreciated. I think he's going to be ok, but big tests later today. so many people have sent lovely messages of support etc but there's not a lot people can do apart from put the kettle on and hand me a magazine of car statistics, I think.

The machine at the car park was very philosophical. It said "Change is possible". True, very true...

daisy99divine · 12/02/2009 12:40

oh amber love, whatever we can do let us know

Mistle, mine's a cheese and ham

OP posts:
cmotdibbler · 12/02/2009 12:43

I like philosophy of the car park machine

Big cup of tea and a flask for later coming up

mistlethrush · 12/02/2009 12:43

Amber, as T42 said, if there's anything any of us might be able to help with...

I can offer a Haynes manual on a Polo, but I'm not sure whether that will help, but I can certainly offer a cup of tea, reassuring pat on the arm and some soup if required?

amber32002 · 12/02/2009 12:55

A flask of tea!! What a brilliant idea! I have a flask, hadn't thought to take it with me.

Haynes manual on the Polo gratefully received, as is tea, soup or toasted sandwich...

justa- a do hope those spots are nowt serious, that would ugger your butlins wekend up somewhat. I frequently sent boy to nursery with a bit of a viral rash since he gets one with every cold. My poorly lad is snuggled up on sofa after finding it all a bit much- I'm hoping he will doze off if I leave him alone for a bit.

I made it to class this morning. listened to two interesting talks- one of which I mostly knew already , the other had some new stuff in from "ACtion for Children" assistant director. Then I gave a 5 min presentation on my current volunteering role, ate some cake to celebrate teh end of teh course and had to clear off early while tutor was going through the "what next" options. After half term we have 6 weeks of optional short courses and one to one interviews/ reviews with volunteer coordinator. Then after easter I hope to be able to expand my volunteering.

Amber- 200 miles is a lot of driving, please be carefull. Virtual hug, cake and best wishes to your dh and you.

Its gone very quiet upstairs in teh living room. Maybe hes nodded off. hurrah.

afternoon all - thanks for lovely words 'bout DS - he is a sweety when he isn't being a wee demon!

Amber - such a shame you have the added stress of a long journey to see your DH - I hope he is sorted and out of there soon.

CMOTD - hope the shouty meeting isn't too awful!

Justa - I know nothing of the spots (yet) so have no words of wisdom but I hope you have an untroubled evening.

Almond croissants hey - sound great! I need the comfort, my osteo had a good session on me today and I feel old and battered as a result!

UniS · 12/02/2009 17:21

oops- amber- I forgot to send best wishes to your boy as well. Has any one else been able to scoop him up and " look after" him if he will let them.

My boy is proper poorly now, throwing up. Has gone through 3 sets of trews and Tops so far. Now sat up in his bed with a bowl and a towel. Ho HUm.

DontCallMeBaby · 12/02/2009 18:44

Bloody hell, amber, 200 miles a day??

Everyone seems to be ill. Happily for us we have no one ill at the moment, although DD has been having Mystery Tummy Aches. I was even told about it by the TA after school yesterday, who said she'd been pale, then went on to qualify that as 'paler than usual, that is'. She is quite rosey cheeked in the pic on my profile, by her standards ... I am confounded, as the tummy ache is neither consistent nor 'convenient' so I'm not convinced it's real OR invented.

I finally got my free iPod shuffle for doing reviews on qype.com today, and snuggly top, extremely silly cuddly ninja, and a big bag of Haribo fizzy cola bottles which I'm going to snarf while DD is in the bath. Have made up for this by ordering healthy snacks from graze.com ... and have code 7F28LV1 for anyone to use to get a box for £1 (it SEEMS easy to get out of, although if the stuff's nice I might keep it up).
