A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

Cheers all!

why the sobbing mad bad?
I am just trying to catch up with all the fashion from last night

I really like the Biba dress, mostly the price! but we need to know how norktastic CMOT is to properly advise!

Tea love the idea of an ad hoc wedding - more details please!

poor unis, unislet and spots. No to calamine - as we call it Calamine YUCK!!! anything else - calendula or red clover or sudacreme - earth friendly baby do nice stuff

zazen, thanks for the bread. I can't knead. My baking has formed the basis of that crafty rockery in the garden, dontcha know!

on my way to work I crafted a really really good piece about why we are not gloomy about being only mum of ones but need and want to hang out here, but I haven't finalised it in my mind and it might be abit heavy for this time in the morning¬

want a cinamon pastry anyone? Pret treats coming up!

MMmmmmm - so many nice dresses ! Thanks for all the ideas ! I had to go back to my room to recharge my laptop last night - wifi only in bar, no power outlets in bar...

I have never had my colours done - am a bit useless in the style department. I currently have reddish hair (naturally white mostly now with patches of mouse) and greeny grey eyes.

Habitually I wear a lot of black, but recognise that it may not be the best colour for me I like wearing jade/turquoise and red

Am fairly tailored sort of person - I like Phase Eight and Sticky Fingers normally.

Norks - B cup alas. When I was bfing, I made it to the dizzy heights of an F which was fantastic.

UniS - DS found a lot of relief from emollient bath with a little Roman Chamomile oil in it when he had chicken pox.

ThumbLoveWitch · 10/02/2009 16:57

cmotdibbler, with those colours and neon white skin, you could be the same as me - but it does rather depend. Do you have any freckles? Would you say your skin tone is pinkish or yellowish? Do you tan AT ALL?

If the tone is yellowish and you have freckles and you can tan even a little bit then you are probably an autumn like me - if you are pinkish no tan at all and no freckles, then more likely to be a winter.

Autumns wear lots of - guess what - autumnal colours! yellow-base colours - leafy greens (not jade or pine) oranges, rusts, softer purples and reds (grapey and winey, not bright purple or scarlet which have blue base), salmony/corally pinks, not shocking or baby; browns instead of black; blues are a bit of a no no but I find I can just about get away with a navy - nothing brighter.

You might be amazed at the transformation (I spent my late teens and twenties in black and mostly looked ill/washed out/dead, that kind of thing. Soon as I dropped the black, I started to look much better! grin])

If you are not an autumn I can't give you as much detail, as I am not that familiar with the other Colours but have found trepanrr.tripod.com/winter_ll_color_palette.htm this website]] that might help

TrulyMadBadandDeeply · 10/02/2009 17:01

Any spare crumpets, Daisy?

Have to say I really enjoyed fantasy shopping for somebody I have never seen! I should have thought of the Phase Eight website, as it's one of my favoured shops. Drat! Have never heard of Sticky Fingers so if they are in similar spirit I'll have to take a peek.

The kettle's boiling - anyone or tea?

daisy99divine · 10/02/2009 17:03

oh for B cups CMOT!
In DaisyMansions that would be Big Nork City Arizona!

I only just managed to even need a bra when bfing... now back to normal "are they there at all"

TrulyMadBadandDeeply · 10/02/2009 17:04

It's nice, isn't it? Although the front page suggests it may be more suitable for the gifted of leg and slim of waist. Grr!

cmotdibbler · 10/02/2009 17:07

I don't have any freckles, and only tan to off white after a lot of sun exposure - think I am probably a winter.

I think shopping for someone else is always much more fun - I certainly enjoy going out looking for an outfit for friends much more than if it is me.

I may force myself to do the personal shopper thing at Johnny LouLou's as easiest way of trying on many dresses. Think I may be able to skive off for a few hours the week after next (next week I'll be in Virginia) on time back, so I'm not accompanied by someone small.

DontCallMeBaby · 10/02/2009 18:34

Sigh ... that red LK Bennett dress is lurrvely, it would suit me ever so well. Needless to say I am NOT a size 8 (don't think it would particularly suit a size 8 tbh).

Blimey cmot, B cup to F? I was terrified of going up that sort of amount when pregnant/bf - when you start off as an FF the thought of going up five cup sizes is pretty alarming prospect. Eep.

I don't have anything like such glamorous clothes shopping to do. No, I am just on the hunt for girls' school trousers. Which come in grey, and a shade of grey appropriate to a school uniform at that, which are proper trousers not jersey pull-on things, but which might well be pull-ons, or at least not have a stupid placket fastening designed to make a 4yo wet herself while she attempts to get into it, and which will fit said 4yo (who is exactly the height she should be at nearly 5, but plumptuous of bottom, which would appear to translate as 'short and fat' to clothing manufacturers).

teafortwo · 10/02/2009 18:58

Is that yummy red dress only available in a size eight?? - ow - if yes - sorry about that!

We still have no cleaner so I have spent the whole day cleaning. I was just about to go all Mrs Dalloway "I shall get the flowers myself" (going to buy flowers) when I was overcome by the need for tea and chat!!!! So the flowers will just have to wait!

Daisy - thanks for asking about our wedding day. Like every woman I love love love talking about my wedding day!!!

Info about it is here.... (scroll down to read about the day.)

rebeccathephotographer.blogspot.com/2008/07/paula-and-alan.html

We wrote to all our relatives in advance and explained what we wanted to do and invited them all for a relaxed bbq party to celebrate with us the day after - they were all really cool about it all! They all said things like "We knew you would never do the big white dress. This is much more you!"

The night before we went to China Town with our best friends for a joint hen/stag dinner and at the dinner asked if Milkfortwo could call them all her God-Parents. They said yes and I started really crying lots!!!!

mistlethrush · 10/02/2009 20:34

Sorry, been in sunny Scarborough, so not computer enabled...

Crumpets would have been great, as would some tea this afternoon - very short on the latter.... and [parched]

Glad someone's looking after the livestock!

cmotdibbler · 10/02/2009 20:41

Tea- that sounds lovely. I'll have to scan some wedding photos in (yes, that's how long we have been married - 12 years this year - that all our photos are print).

DCMB - it was the combination of a milk monster and losing weight - so back size went down. My norkily endowed friends both only went up one size.

How about BHS ? Don't they do a plumpcious size in school wear ?

Donk · 10/02/2009 20:50

Good heavens Daisy, you have been busy - thanks for the hay and the carrots.
By the way I am house trained, so no need to muck me out!

Donk · 10/02/2009 21:24

Quiet in here this evening - I'm going down to see what you are all watching on TV!

TrulyMadBadandDeeply · 10/02/2009 21:33

Ah! Are we talking bosoms? Immediately after MadBadBaby was born, mine were so huge that they rivalled Jordan's (think two missile silos and you're about there). Thankfully they have since shrunk but I still envy the moderate of nork for their greater clothing options (or is that just a case of the grass being greener over the fence?)

Tea - lovely photos! Milk could be a child moggle.

DCMB - Have you been to Johnny Loulou's school uniform department? MadBadBaby has some of their pull-on trousers which are of reasonable quality, easy for quick changing for PE and mercifully free of those little dangly flowers and other bits of bling with which girl's uniform is often embellished. They are jersey but quite robust and not at all flimsy or legging-like.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the 'highlight of the day' thread. Someone there mentioned wine o'clock. So,

Champagne?
Merlot?
a cheeky little Entre Deux Mers?

Racingsnake · 10/02/2009 21:51

It worked! Hoover Saga is over! As recommended by up lovely people, I poked about in the tube with a garden cane, then, since the machine does not have a 'blow' setting, I squirted very hot water down the tube and managed to push the coat hangars up through. I am £80 better off! Or at least not worse off.

Loved all the dresses you suggested for CMOT. Have decided I need to do something about myself - I have become horrendously ugly recently. Has anyone ever had their colours done? I never know what suits me.

Decided not to look at anyone's profile as I know perfectly well what you all look like and don't want to confuse myself by seeing photos. /there was a dodgy minute earlier when I clicked on Tea's link and almost saw a photo of her (I think), but I managed to cross my eyes quickly and miss it. I did look at Milk, though, and she is beautiful.

I supposed I could put some photos on mine, since you are all looking at each other. (How ungracious that sounded. I mean, for those of you who like to see RL images, I will go and try and find some.)

mistlethrush · 10/02/2009 22:13

No photos of me me on my profile!

Yes, MJ's colouring takes after me - but that doesn't mean that my hair is the colour as mine is now!

CMot - same here - 11 years this year so not far behind you!

All I can say is that I was very glad to find out that Bravissimo did nursing bras. They even let me feed in the changing room before sorting out a new bra (ds was hungry so it needed to be then and there - and they didn't raise an eyebrow about resultant lopsidedness!!!! Even when I manage to lose a large about of weight and get chest size down to a 30, I still need a G

ThumbLoveWitch · 10/02/2009 22:15

I am ashamed - my colours link was rubbish.
Anyone who wants to have a go, go here and answer the questions to see what you are. Then it will show your colour palette as well, depending.

CMOTD, I think I might have misled you - you could be a summer or a winter, you'll need to look.

UniS · 10/02/2009 22:17

ohhh MT - scarborough, you lucky thing. Did you manage to sneak along to the Harbour bar for ice cream sundaes? I lived in Scarb for 3 years, thoughly enjoyed it and would move back like a shot if only DH could have as good a job there as he has here. He used to have a 70 mile each way commute to Leeds from Scarb, while I just walked across the road :-)

Boy and his pox. Yep, hes covered in em. Our magic make it better cream at present is doublebase , he has it any way for dry skin and keeping his skin moist ( ish) seems to be stopping him itching. Fortunatly he choses to sleep in a baby sleeping bag still ( I KNOW hes nearly 3, but hes asks for it and puts it in his bed himself) So shouldn;'t be able to do much night time scratching.
He was well in himself today - so we had a pre poxxed friend over for a bit then took both of them out on their bikes during school hours to a big flat park. Tomorow I have another pre poxxed child lined up for a play date( plus little bro who hasn;t had it yet, but mum is keen for him to get it out the way!)

Dasiy- thank you for your round of tidying up and plumping up RP.

UniS · 10/02/2009 22:19

off to wash up now, then probadly to bed. See you tomorrow if I get a chance.
Wasn;t on earlier as at Yoga. now nicely chilled and relaxed

ThumbLoveWitch · 10/02/2009 22:23

night UniS - glad boy isn't suffering too badly.

DontCallMeBaby · 10/02/2009 22:23

CMOT I will look again at BHS, I dismissed them as ugly yesterday but choices seem limited. I will have to measure DD tomorrow, see what size we really need to go for. I do know they do a more generous fit though - and Next have a plus fit, but their availability is dreadful. In fact practically everyone's availability is dreadful, we're not supposed to buy school clothes mid-year, are we?

MadBad I don't suppose MadBadBaby's* pull-on trousers are the grey ones? Cos I'd dismissed those because they look totally the wrong colour, but if it's just a bad photo I could be tempted. Although I may have to buy in person, which would either involve doing the weekly shop in Waitrose Food & Home, or going to Cribbs Causeway. Oh, the hardship.

Poor kid, all this now and when she grows up she will probably have to contend with the hereditary norks. I had some lovely dresses suggested to me by a slim friend who thought they would suit my more voluptuous figure - I had to explain that I would not FIT in them, that the underbust seam would be over the bust, or my boobs would fall out the top. She was right - if they'd fitted they'd have looked great, but they wouldn't have done.

No pics of me on my profile either RS, just cake - if you bear in mind I'm quite fond of cake that will help you picture me, I think.

Racingsnake · 10/02/2009 22:24

Have put photos there.

mistlethrush · 10/02/2009 22:25

Unfortunately, meetings 1.15 until 5.30. With a 2 hr drive either end, together with stuff to do in the office before leaving, not much time for icecreams! There were people surfing in the grey waves. It looked ICY
