Welcome to the Tea rooms newest incarnation. A cozy log cabin with a roaring log fire, comfy chintz sofas and a dedicated man about the house, our Butler, Mellors. Out of the windows you can see sparkling white snow gently drifted up under the green Christmas trees and bright blue skies. Children can all be packed off to play healthy outdoor stuff while we stay snug n warm in here with our mulled wine, tea, artisan hot chocolate and other beverages served in mugs, glasses or buckets.

The usual rules apply - no fisticuffs. And no messing with the aspidistra.

I think Mellors has a luxurious massage of your choice waiting - or a glorious cream tea!

CMOTDibbler · 25/04/2014 18:16

Much as the cream tea sounds lovely, the massage is what I need right now. Am having a wobble as we've just found new owners for dpony, and much as it is the right thing, I'll miss him lots

Donki · 25/04/2014 20:55

:( Has Dpony been outgrown?

Donki · 25/04/2014 20:57

I'd love to get a pony for the YD - but I just can't afford it. Well, I could afford to buy one, but not the upkeep.

(So strange trying to get used to that "I" instead of a "we")

CMOTDibbler · 25/04/2014 21:16

Yes, both height and skills wise. Ds needs someone more into jumping now.

A dog would be lovely for yd - ours has been amazing for Tiddler, and its been a great way for me to chat to new people

Scout19075 · 25/04/2014 21:44

Hello!

Donki · 25/04/2014 21:48

It is always hard to say goodbye to a four footed friend - IME as hard a saying goodbye to a two legged one.

But if DPony goes to a good home where he will have fun, and you might even be able to visit, that makes it easier.

beanandspud · 25/04/2014 22:12

I'd love a 4-legged friend but just couldn't do it with work. When I'm a lady of leisure however...

MT - I suspect the racing may be close to us, do let us know if you go and maybe we can join you?

Scout - that's rubbish about SB's glasses, I would be fuming.

How are you doing Donki? Do you have plans for the weekend?

Donki · 25/04/2014 23:06

Nothing very exciting Bean.

The YD has gone with MrD to visit MrD's brother and his family near London. I think he is looking for brotherly support.

I don't know whether to go to Sheffield for a Quaker thing (but as MrD has the car I would have to go by train, and trains to Sheffield are slow and infrequent - or to go to York (much easier, if expensive on the train) and go to a periodic Board Games Club.

Or Just to hide at home - York requires much social effort from me, and I'mnot sure I feel up to it. I suspect going out will be better for me - but I have to find the energy and motivation, and it has been rather thin on the ground today.

Sorry to be a bit of a misery guts....

LushAndVerdant · 25/04/2014 23:15

::joins in the waving at CMOT::

Might the Quaker thing be your best option, Donki? A faff on the train, maybe, but less socially taxing than the board games event?

We are entirely pet-free here, after the untimely demise of the goldfish.

And I too would be livid about SB's specs. Grr.

Donki · 26/04/2014 00:37

Still thinking about tomorrow today.

LushAndVerdant · 26/04/2014 03:30

Hmm. Try to sleep on it.

::says a fellow insomniac::

Scout19075 · 26/04/2014 06:12

SB woke up telling me about "the mean and naughty boy who took my glasses off me" so I suspect he and his friend were telling the truth somewhat. I didn't mention it this morning but it was one of the first things he told me about when he woke up and crawled into bed with me.

Donki · 26/04/2014 07:04

Hey ho, hey ho it's off to Sheffield I go... :)
It will keep me busy and out of mischief.

Scout19075 · 26/04/2014 07:47

Sounds like a good plan, Donki.

LushAndVerdant · 26/04/2014 08:56

Excellent, Donki. Hope you enjoy it.

mistlethrush · 26/04/2014 09:12

I hope you have a nice day Donki.

Racing is 'interesting' let us say... Lots of very excited dogs - mistlehound is normally very laid back and relaxed (apart from when there are bunnies around) but changes into a quivering spring when we're there, can't wait for her turn. There's lots of barking and squeeling when the lure starts going round. During pauses, everything settles down a bit... When the weather's nice its very pleasant, when its wet and cold the wind whips round rather... For anyone somewhat concerned about dogs its not a good place to be because there are some large dogs there.. But the dogs are all lovely (apart from a nasty chihuahua!)

I suppose what I'm saying is, if you want to see a whole lot of wonderful dogs enjoying themselves, its a good place to go. If you want to meet relaxed dogs that are interested in saying hello to humans, it might not be the right place!

Donki · 26/04/2014 19:45

Quakers in Yorkshire was interesting.
And I met some good Ffriends on the train and got the chance to gently socialize 1-2-1 with a couple of them (going and returning).
Much easier than York would have been.

:)

Donki · 26/04/2014 19:47

When the YD comes home I shall ask him if he would like to go dog racing.

LushAndVerdant · 26/04/2014 19:50

I'm glad the trip was successful, Donki. Well done for screwing your courage to the sticking place.

CMOTDibbler · 26/04/2014 20:23

Glad to hear you had a nice day Donki

UniS · 26/04/2014 21:10

Glad you had a good day Donki, it sounds like a good decision and exactly the right thing to do.

Donki · 27/04/2014 09:18

Morning All!

What a splendid buffet breakfast Mellors has laid on.

Tea anyone?

?Waves teapot around?

LushAndVerdant · 27/04/2014 09:41

Oh, yes please.
