Welcome to the Tea rooms newest incarnation. A cozy log cabin with a roaring log fire, comfy chintz sofas and a dedicated man about the house, our Butler, Mellors. Out of the windows you can see sparkling white snow gently drifted up under the green Christmas trees and bright blue skies. Children can all be packed off to play healthy outdoor stuff while we stay snug n warm in here with our mulled wine, tea, artisan hot chocolate and other beverages served in mugs, glasses or buckets.

The usual rules apply - no fisticuffs. And no messing with the aspidistra.

You okay, Donki?

In YOUT today. SB is taking part in a cognitive study at YOU after lunch that he's looking forward to. Picked up a birthday present for the youngest member of The Trio today. Bless SB, he really wants a new bunny and kept saying"We're not buying anything for me today, just this present for my friend. But I love that bunny, Mommy.". I can't wait to see his face on Sunday when he spies his new bunny in his basket.

SB's BFF got her first choice school. I'm happy for them but feel sad at the lose of the spontaneous, full days at park where the two of them (plus little brother) just climb and play and get mucky together.

Thanks MT, I have to pack for going away tomortow with the YD, and my aunt is due to phone from Alaska. I think going away this weekend will be good for me (and the YD).

I may give you a ring on Monday to see if you are free...

I must stop using 'back'on my phone to get to active convos.

UniS · 17/04/2014 16:15

arrrr so that's how you do it. Afternoon donki, would you like an ear rub or a frying Pam wielded or both?
I've pinched nevergoogles muffins from another thread and they are very nice.

An ear rub would be very soothing.
Thank you UniS

?Goes and hides in the tea room priesthole again. - it looks lovely with all the spring flowers that Mistle handed down.?

Donki · 17/04/2014 20:04

Very fragrant too.

Scout19075 · 17/04/2014 21:53

What on earth could my mother have sent to MrScout that's in a manilla envelope marked for MrScout's eyes only, not to be opened in front of me?!

LushAndVerdant · 17/04/2014 22:39

How long to your birthday, Scout? Or north American Mothers' Day?

I'm sorry you are feeling so low, Donki. Have another ear rub and a galvanised bucket of tea.

Donki · 18/04/2014 06:38

?Slurps tea noisily?

Donki · 18/04/2014 06:40

Thank you L&V.

The ear rub helped too.

Goodness I had some strange dreams!

We arrived in PiLshire last night. Last night was the first night since SB was born that he stayed in a different room to us here at PiL (now that SiL1 is married, though she's still in NZ, SB's been given her little room for his own). Because of that we didn't put the door to the click, in case SB got confused or was desperate to come find us, so we had a cat visitor overnight or decided to try and sleep on my head. When I refused she spend ages "padding" the pillow by my head (until MrScout scooped her up and tossed her to the bottom of the bed). I was afraid to move for fear of getting scratched in the face or her tangled in my hair. I love the cats but that was just not called for.

L&V, US Mothers' Day is in May. MomScout usually posts a card to arrive in Scoutshire the week leading up to it. Bless her, she buys a card in May, holds it and has SB sign it in November then holds it until April/May time when she sends it to arrive in time for Mothers' Day. It's a real operation. One that is much appreciated especially after the reading the thread around Mothering Sunday where some Americans over here don't seem to get any Mothers' Day. As for my birthday, that's in August but it is a "big" zero-ending birthday this year so I did wonder if it was related to that. But why stick the envelope in an Easter package that contains chocolates and toys and decorations with a big song-and-dance note about "for MrScout's eyes only to be opened without Scout in the room"? Doesn't my mother know that only makes me want to know what's in it?!?! Christmas packages wrapped up under the tree? Never touch them, they could sit there all month and I don't care. Write a note about "do not touch" and I can barely contain myself!

Would anyone like anything from the breakfast bar of requirement this morning?

Donki · 18/04/2014 07:55

Mmmm! Hot cross buns again!

The YD started worrying about the return to school last night.

He wouldn't settle to sleep - until I wielded the big guns out. The Placebo effect - homeopathic chamomila. Worked like a charm! (I used to give it to him for teething, and any situation where he needed calming).

I'll make sure I take them away with us!

Donki · 18/04/2014 07:59

How exciting Scout - a mysterious letter!

I'm glad the cat didn't try to sit on my head - I would have been sneezing for hours...

UniS · 18/04/2014 09:02
