The moving castle tea room touches down for the 29th time

Welcome to the tea room. Open to those with one child and those with more and maybe some with none ( hi dave the trucker).

This time we are heading to the mists and mellow fruitfulness of Autumn in a moving castle with a mind of its own. The roaring fire is maintained by magic and Mellors the gardener handles wine and spirits along with massage duties.

The first rule of the tea room is this
No fisticuffs.
The second is this
Put the kettle on for Brew and help yourself to a Biscuit

LittleDeer - No, not often, even in her sleep. I read something this morning where a [fictional] mother observed that the constant babble from her children sucked every thought from her head and knew exactly what she meant. But I wouldn't have it any other way. Probably.

Scout19075 · 11/09/2011 15:33

LittleDeer, TS is quite a chatterer. Some day I know what he is trying to tell me. He's soooo close to and really tries hard.

Tee2072 · 11/09/2011 15:52

Afternoon all.

Museum trip cancelled due to extreme toddler crankiness. Beyond the way he normal is. Is it possible for a small person to get too much sleep!?!

CMOT hope you feel better soon.

LittleDeer LCT talks, although not quite English yet, but not incessantly. But whatever he is saying is very very important. You can tell.

CMOTdibbler · 11/09/2011 16:13

DS never stops talking, and it really does suck the thoughts from my head.

Fortunatly, right now, he is having a nap

LittleDeerandMe · 11/09/2011 17:25

I love him to bits but his continual talking drives me mad sometimes!! Like at lunchtime today, 'mama what are you having for lunch?' Me, 'boiled eggs and soliders', ds 'smolied beggs and smolders?', he then wants me to say 'yes, smolied beggs and smolders', at which point he'll say 'flodlied smeggs and boulders', again he'll want me to say yes and repeat him, and so on and so forth for ages. When I forget the words or tune out he shouts at me. He continually talks to me and I am not allowed to not reply, but my reply has to be the exact one he wants or else he starts shouting. It's hard work, and I hate feeling like I have to do things exactly as he says or else he'll have a meltdown.

LittleDeerandMe · 11/09/2011 17:26

Maybe it's his continual controlling behaviour that gets to me so much actually.

oxeye · 11/09/2011 20:06

ah ha little deer I know you now girlie!

Oxpox never ever ever stops talking. But then neither do I. I think that's why OxBloke goes on Long and Dangerous and very Solitary expoditions Grin

Sometimes I have to beg Oxpox to be quiet. Yes, my brain often feels sucked out and dry, but by life as a whole, not just IT

LOL at LittleDeers inventiveness - although I can see it must get crazymaking

UniS · 11/09/2011 20:33

I tune out boy. this annoys him as it means I ignore "reallllly urgent questions mummy" and when I do tune back in I'm a bit lost as I have no context for a sentence or two. Mind you thats not only caused by tuning out as boy will leap about between subjects in a most tangential manner.

Bits of me feel better today - head is much better, I'm pretty sure I was mildly concussed yesterday, but no point seeking medical opinion, just did what they have told me do before when concussed. Today however I have an attack of DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Stiffness.) all round my rib cage. ouch. I'll get through it. graze on chin is not tooooo obvious thankfully, mostly under chin.
Any one for a warming glass of mulled Wine ,

Oxeye!!!!!!! (Less-than-impressive bossum advances ...)

Feeling sympathy for all those under the weather / lacking in sleep ... Wriggle back at school tomorrow. Sad

beanandspud · 11/09/2011 22:47

Sending sunny greetings to all Tearoomers.

Hope that you are all feeling better.

We are enjoying the first couple of days of our holiday. Small Bean is loving the pool and has a scary amount of confidence in the water. It is lovely just to kick back and chill out with him although, echoing earlier posts, he really doesn't stop talking from 7am to 7pm. Even when he is playing with his cars/trains there is a running commentary and so many questions that my head hurts!!

Maud - if you have Karen from Outnumbered I think I may have Ben!

The plus side is that Daddy is Number One choice and boring old Mummy got to lie by the pool and read her book for an hour this afternoon... I think that is the first time in three years Grin

:: puts slightly dodgy local wine and nibbles on the sideboard::

mistlethrush · 11/09/2011 23:41

Mc doesn't stop talking! Although since term's started I've discovered that he's quite keen on reading school library book during breakfast which is fantastic!!!!

Had a remarkably good day today - compared to how it could have gone. Mini was ver good.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 11/09/2011 23:53

::snort:: at Ben from Outnumbered and his attempt to be Heston Blumenthal.

Tee2072 · 12/09/2011 07:27

Hi all.

Off to ENT today to try to figure out why LCT has had so many courses of ABs over the last year. He's had about 13!

Bean sounds like a lovely holiday!

UniS I can so see myself tuning out LCT. I am not very good at pretending to be interested in something I am not interested in! We'll have to see how things develop!

Scout19075 · 12/09/2011 07:48

Good luck to Tee and LCT!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/09/2011 09:08

Good luck Tee and LCT! Hope you get some meaningful help.

CMOTdibbler · 12/09/2011 09:27

Good luck LCT and Tee - hope you get some answers

Thumbwitch · 12/09/2011 14:32

Good luck with ENT! Hope it's something easily fixed.

MiniThumb is a bit of a chatterbox too - but at least he repeats the same thing over and over until I repeat it back to him and then he stops. But I (or DH, or both) do have to repeat it back or he will not stop. It is wearing but easily dealt with, thank goodness. Unlike DH's singing Hmm

Tee2072 · 12/09/2011 15:40

Thanks for the luck. It didn't work. Since he has no speech delay and no hearing loss there is nothing they will do. Apparently a red ear every 4 - 6 weeks is 'how kids are' and 'GPs over prescribe ABs'. Hmm

Next stop, GP for an allergy clinic referral.

And possibly a formal complaint as I was patted on the head and sent on my way. No way is it 'normal' to have achy ears every 4 - 6 weeks. Just no way.

Thumbwitch · 12/09/2011 16:17

Well I didn't want to say beforehand but I had a bad experience with ENT as well. I went with transient vertigo issues and had had labyrinthitis a couple of times - they sent me for hearing tests/ ear examinations and then told me I had a permanently damaged inner ear, there was nothing that could be done for me but if I did dizzy-making exercises for 10 minutes, 3 times a day for the rest of my days (apparently) my brain would get so bored of being dizzy that it would stop doing it. Or some bollocks like that.

Two trips to the osteopath and my transient vertigo was fixed, when my neck was put back into line.

When I was working, I had a client who had been through the exact same process I had - between my work and the osteopath, we fixed her transient vertigo as well.

They (ENT) obviously do have their uses but I don't believe that they're all that good with the more ephemeral stuff.

amberlight · 12/09/2011 17:11

Helloooo all! Oxeye, you're back!

UniS, eek re your fall. You're not seeing double or being sick, are you? Get thee to a medic at once if so

Cotswolds truly lovely. Weather sort of missed us, though a large branch fell off a tree in the winds on the way back and bounced off the car's roof. Thank goodness Flora is made of stern stuff!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/09/2011 19:18

Eek about branches falling on Flora the (t)rusty Land Rover but three cheers for Flora.

Would anyone care to join me in a celebratory snifter of sherry?

Scout19075 · 12/09/2011 19:30

Poor Flora.

Scout19075 · 12/09/2011 19:40

Toddler with an elevated temperature. Sad He burst into tears at the end of In The Night Garden. But on the positive he had a great time at Bouncing Beans this afternoon (pre-fever).

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/09/2011 19:41

Oh no. Poor Toddler.

Scout19075 · 12/09/2011 19:42

Meatloaf made, not in a loaf shape, but in a cupcake/muffin tin. Awesome idea!
