The moving castle tea room touches down for the 29th time

Welcome to the tea room. Open to those with one child and those with more and maybe some with none ( hi dave the trucker).

This time we are heading to the mists and mellow fruitfulness of Autumn in a moving castle with a mind of its own. The roaring fire is maintained by magic and Mellors the gardener handles wine and spirits along with massage duties.

The first rule of the tea room is this
No fisticuffs.
The second is this
Put the kettle on for Brew and help yourself to a Biscuit

Hurrah for sturdy Flora! And Amber - I like your style!
Have a bracing carrot.

(Snigger, typed a "manly carrot" and then realised how it looked) Blush

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/09/2011 19:46

Well, really!

Scout19075 · 12/09/2011 19:47

As I posted more pictures for M&D tonight I've come to the conclusion I take WAAAAAYYYYY to many pictures.

DontCallMeBaby · 12/09/2011 19:51

It IS windy, isn't it? DD went to her friend's for tea, and when I went to pick her up I just spotted friend's mum with the girls at the far end of the road, heading into the park. It turned out they had foregone pudding in favour of going to check out the fallen tree in the park.

MT thank you for the cello advice! My current take is 'leave the bow in the case until your teacher tells you to take it out'. Fortunately for my sanity she came out of school telling me we had to buy a black rubber thing for the spike of her cello, otherwise I would have thought the instruction in her book to 'buy a black hole' was some sort of left-handed screwdriver-style initiation rite. Hmm

The talk of Lego books has made me muse that an advantage of having only one child is you are hugely unlikely to have to read Lego books AND Magic Rainbow Fairies. Even if you have more than one child of the same sex, they might have wildly different tastes and you could be subjected to both ordeals, but a single child is really unlikely to be into the worst excesses of boy-orientated and girl-orientated books.

Wriggle we get a bit more out of DD about school now, but she was as secretive as an oyster when she first started. I tried not to pry too much, given that I got into trouble as a child for unauthorised writing in class - I was writing notes about what I was doing, so I could tell my parents, because they kept quizzing me ... !

Finally - NMB-arama!!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/09/2011 19:56

Ah, the NMBs, like the poor, are always with us.

You know, I would happily swap the Magic Rainbow Fairies for Lego! Luckily, we have moved on from MRFs now.

We were told today that The Girl needs a bigger violin, so it's back to the music shop we go. Hey nonny nonny.

amberlight · 12/09/2011 20:01

No, Hey Nonny Nonny requires bells tied to the legs, as I understand it. Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/09/2011 20:07

::Goes a-googling::

Well, did you ever. There are internet sources which (although of course they may not be authoritative) suggest that hey nonny nonny, which I thought meant much the same as tra la la, is actually Very Rude. Gosh.

Scout19075 · 12/09/2011 20:10

Umm, umm....

amberlight · 12/09/2011 20:14

Definitely best done with bells Wink

UniS · 12/09/2011 20:21

I believe bells are pratically compulsory- unless one is ina boarder team. At which point swap bells fro mirrow shades and black face paint- beards are optional but encouraged.

Hi Amber- I'm fine ish now, head is back to normal after a few hours of "fuzzy, don't want to eat do want to sleep time". EYe sight returned to normal once I'd straightened out my bent glasses. Just got aching ribs now. like whiplash but lower down I guess.

(I wouldn't be going up to any female and asking to see their nonny nonny, that's for sure!)

mistlethrush · 12/09/2011 20:56

Maud - I'm picking up MC's 'new' violin this week - although its not 'new' - managed to find an old one. I went into the shop - it looked really crummy and I can see why no one had looked at it - but I had a play and even with crummy strings it was a nicer tone than the 'new' ones. Luckily, when I went in with mc, having already discussed with him that he was getting an 'old' violin 'like mummy's violin and viola and daddy's db and 'cello' he had a play on it and then tried the 'new' violin (purple Shock) and gave it back and asked to play 'his' violin again Grin. We're also going to get a bracket like they have in the shop that we can fix to the wall so that we can hang it up rather than putting it in the case each time....

Ears: well, we didn't get anywhere until we managed to get referred to a consultant that we trusted (we went privately). Oh - and he does have hearing loss - although no one hearing him speak would believe it.

MC has happily brought home a magic fairies book - although I think we'll manage to get more of the more traditionally boyish books this year probably. But we've not had a lego 'book' yet.... we do have LOTS of lego though Grin

CMOTdibbler · 12/09/2011 21:02

Wine all round tonight !! Dad had his biopsy results back today and it is an autoimmune condition, so treatable with steroids. Am vvvvvvvvv relieved

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/09/2011 21:06

Oh that is fantastic, Cmot! Would you like some Twiglets A Gogo to go with the Wine? Or Mellors for a foot rub?

Scout19075 · 12/09/2011 21:08

YAY for CMOT and her dad!!!

CMOTdibbler · 12/09/2011 21:16

Twiglets a gogo sounds fascinating. Will you be sharing the recipe with Hugh FW on his webchat ? The venus fly trap thanks you for the help btw

If Mellors could just pop over and scratch under my bandages (I'm sure he has his ways), that would be perfect

mistlethrush · 12/09/2011 21:17

Oooh good news CMot!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/09/2011 21:20

I like to think that Twiglets A Gogo is the recipe of requirement - one uses whatever is to hand. Did you notice the gorgonzola, mint and kumquat?

Mellors will be right there. How is the wound healing?

CMOTdibbler · 12/09/2011 21:33

And was that, perchance, a hint of aniseed too ?

No idea on the wound - it is under layers of bandage and dressings. Nothing has oozed out, so I guess all is ok.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/09/2011 21:39

Probably - I always think a good slug of Pernod makes it all the more piquant.

How does your elbow feel? Does it feel as if it's going to be better or is it too soon to say?

CMOTdibbler · 12/09/2011 21:47

Too soon to say - the movement I don't have is blocked by the cast. But he did shove it into a better overall position, so even if it just stays there it will have been worth it

mistlethrush · 12/09/2011 21:56

that's good to hear CMot.

Donki · 12/09/2011 22:11

Excellent CMOT - how soon will you be able to ride?

And how is your DS doing with DPony at the moment?

CMOTdibbler · 12/09/2011 22:21

Should be back riding in 3 weeks or so - can't wait ! Ds and dpony are doing really well - they sould be cantering soon, and have been doing little jumps nicely. My running skills are being severely tested I can tell you

mistlethrush · 13/09/2011 09:03

Oooh - btw, Dr didn't completely dismiss my concerns re mc - she suggested I take mc along to one of her colleages who tends to deal with that sort of issue - and perhaps write to her first outlining the issues so that we don't have to spell them all out in front of mc. Have booked appointment - not until 5th Oct, but its booked.
