The moving castle tea room touches down for the 29th time

Welcome to the tea room. Open to those with one child and those with more and maybe some with none ( hi dave the trucker).

This time we are heading to the mists and mellow fruitfulness of Autumn in a moving castle with a mind of its own. The roaring fire is maintained by magic and Mellors the gardener handles wine and spirits along with massage duties.

The first rule of the tea room is this
No fisticuffs.
The second is this
Put the kettle on for Brew and help yourself to a Biscuit

That's true, too, UniS. And I've seen how Toddler is with babies or other toddlers trying for my attention. Most tots are facinated by babies but not Toddler -- he'd rather go for the big kids. He would not be impressed if I brought home a baby.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 22:01

That reminds me of when my mum asked me if I would like a little brother or sister [hint, hint] and I said no, but I'd like a big sister!

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 22:35

My mom gave me "the talk" when she was pregant with my sister. Blush

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 22:41

Eek. How old were you then?

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 22:42

Nine plus.

DumSpiroSpero · 10/09/2011 22:43

George Clooney, Maud? George Clooney?! Shock

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 22:49

Come in Spiro!

And yes, George Clooney. I was swooning over Dr Ross's skill with a stethoscope long before my heart was captured by a dour northern industrialist. Besides, I have to share Cardboard George with other tea-roomers - when Oxeye is here there have sometimes been some rather unseemly fisticuffs over who gets to sit next to Cardboard George on the distressed chintz sofa.

We also have a cardboard Wesley Snipes somewhere, I believe, and then of course there is Mellors the tea room factotum.

DumSpiroSpero · 10/09/2011 22:55

You know what's coming, Maud, don't you...

... a certain TDHCMO is very disappointed in you Wink

On a more thread-appropriate subject - is it safe to admit here that having spent a fair amount of time with other people's kids this week, I am very glad to just have the one?! Confused

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 22:55

To welcome Spiro to the tea room cult.

DumSpiroSpero · 10/09/2011 22:58

I'll admit that's a rather fetching glimpse of chest hair he's got going on there.

I see the pogonophilia is not a new thing either Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 22:58

Yes, Spiro, this is a safe place in which you can express such thoughts.

I like other people's children, and (quite often) enjoy spending time with them, but that still doesn't make me wish I had more than one myself. Whatever wibbles I had about not having more fizzled out years ago.

LittleDeerandMe · 10/09/2011 23:00

Great photo Maud! I am also a big George fan and so is dh Grin.

Welcome Spiro.

Just reading Zoe William in the magazine. I have just moved for a school Grin.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 23:00

Look, Spiro, if I had to confess how long ago I was self-diagnosed with pogonophilia, you would realise that I was either (a) extremely old which some of the ladies here who have met me can corroborate or (b) a precocious child.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 23:04

It is a fantastic picture of Mr Clooney, whatever aspersions Spiro (who only has eyes for Richard Armitage) might cast.

Oh, I read Zoe Williams too. It wasn't coincidental, I think, that loads of The Girl's contemporaries left London for counties which still had grammar schools, at about the pre-school stage. And thinking of magazines, I also read quite recently (in one of the Sundays?) that George deserved some of the credit for the diplomatic solution in Sudan.

My hero

DumSpiroSpero · 10/09/2011 23:06

Hi LittleDeer!

Thanks Maud! I love having DD's friends round, but had to shepherd 3 of them through a busy shopping centre this afternoon then have them in the car there and back. Not major and not too horrendous but it did make me wonder how people with more do it on a regular basis. The noise levels alone were a bit of a Shock.

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 23:08

Well, this poorly girl is off to bed. Morning comes stupidly early and after a crap sleep last night I'm hoping to have better luck tonight.

DumSpiroSpero · 10/09/2011 23:08

only has eyes for Richard Armitage? Where on earth did you get that idea? Grin

I am not oblivious to the fact that Mr Clooney has got 'it' in spades - he is just a bit too perfect for me - I like them slightly quirky.

DumSpiroSpero · 10/09/2011 23:10

Hi Scout - hope you get a good night.

LittleDeerandMe · 10/09/2011 23:11

I think the school situation in Ireland is also probably somewhat different to the UK. Here something like 90% of all schools are run by the catholic church, and it's not background religion. Most people don't have anything other than the local catholic school near to their house. Alot of the schools are single sex too.

Dh loves George Clooney for his political work, he also admits he's not exactly ugly!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 23:12

Good night, Scout! I don't think you can be tried for treason, just for typing during the national anthem.

LittleDeerandMe · 10/09/2011 23:12

Will someone please tell me to go to bed and stop grumbling about schools

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 23:15

No, but MrScout may grumble at me as he's done before.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 23:18

Go to bed, LittleDeer!
