The moving castle tea room touches down for the 29th time

Welcome to the tea room. Open to those with one child and those with more and maybe some with none ( hi dave the trucker).

This time we are heading to the mists and mellow fruitfulness of Autumn in a moving castle with a mind of its own. The roaring fire is maintained by magic and Mellors the gardener handles wine and spirits along with massage duties.

The first rule of the tea room is this
No fisticuffs.
The second is this
Put the kettle on for Brew and help yourself to a Biscuit

Oh. ::disappointed:: I was hoping it was going to be called the UniS Skate Park.

Well, as this will be the skate ramp of requirement and so I won't fall off and break my ankle but will be able to do amazing and gravity defying jumps, I'm in.

::Puts baseball cap on backwards and lowers jeans to reveal waistband of designer underwear::

::or is that only for the skaterboys around here?::

Oh, at MessyTots today TS spent most of his time playing with the Brio trainset that they had put out on the floor. Smile It seems that our plan for Christmas is a good one. Grin

UniS · 21/09/2011 21:19

I didn't find the money for it, two teenage boys did the grant application and got enough money.

May I have a proud mummy of PFB moment.

DS CHECKED with me before walking behind a (parked) digger at teh site today. Hurrah, he's remembered his site safety drill.

Oh, and he's been moved up half a book band- easy red to harder red.

I see you baggy jeans and designer underware showing. I raise you converse, short shorts and a vest. in the rain.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 21/09/2011 21:54

Ooh, yes, Converses. Can I have sparkly ones? I'll skip the short shorts and vest, though.

::Sails through the air and performs somersault::

UniS · 21/09/2011 23:07

Sparkley Converse eh!!! WOW, what a mover.

Mc demonstrated his broken shoes on day 4 of term... went back to the shop hoping that I'd get at least some money off a new pair as he'd only worn them for a term and then not at all over the summer hols - although that made it over the '4 month' normal warranty period. I think it was good that they keep a record of what shoes you've bought from them - and had seen that he had a pair of geox outdoor shoes and a pair of trainers too - so clearly he wasn't going to be wearing his school shoes in the holidays. To start with it looked touch and go as he's measuring a bigger size than the shoe - but the owner managed to see us after she'd got rid of her customers and said that the style came up big - he was checked wearing his shoes and there was a good amount of room - and he now has a nice new pair (had to be shipped in from another nearby shop).

Maud - your jeans are far too high up if only the waistband is revealed (based on the appearance of those on their boards and bikes using the skate park fairly near here). (I really have to restrain myself from lowering the car window and suggesting that trousers need pulling up - we say it so often now to mc its sort of a built-in response Blush)(although mc is now commenting on the fact that he can see someone's pants and that they should pull their trousers up now too Grin)

Just an FYI to people on the other space. I don't have the new feed thingy but I'm aware of what's going on. Our other space is set to private and I'm constantly checking it. Please let me know ASAP if you get info in your ticker thingy from it.

Tee2072 · 22/09/2011 11:32

Scout I've been checking that one an another private one I belong to and those seem to be the only places that continue to be truly private.

This might be the thing that kills FB dead.

Scout19075 · 22/09/2011 11:37

Thanks Tee.

Scout19075 · 22/09/2011 11:42

If the man with the greyhound type dog comments to me one more time about "slow going" when seeing TS and I out for a walk (Toddler pushing his Bunny in his stroller and me pushing the proper one along side) I think I will scream!! Every bloomin' time we go to into town (or in today's case, the recycling station at Tesco) via the footpath in the morning we pass this guy walking his dog and every single time he makes the same stupid comment. Yes, it takes away letting TS walk. I know that. I'm not stupid. I live with the boy. But walking is good, he loves pushing his Bunny and it's not like I had a time constraint (I don't let him walk long distances if I do). ARGH!

Scout19075 · 22/09/2011 11:44

Sorry for the rant but EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Tee2072 · 22/09/2011 11:48

Tell him you're building up to a marathon. You're hoping TS will be ready by the time he's 10, so you're building up slowly. Or just raise an eyebrow and say 'No duh Sherlock, he's not even 2!'

Scout19075 · 22/09/2011 12:04

Grin at Tee. I like the marathon suggestion.

And it's not like TS bothers him or the dog. He tends to stop behind me to let the man and the dog pass and he points/squeaks at the dog and wants me to acknowledge "Yes, TS, that's a dog." TS almost always pulls in behind me and stops when people are coming up from behind or wanting to pass from the opposite direction. I've taught TS not to run at (strange) dogs so he does tend to stop and watch them instead.

Tee2072 · 22/09/2011 12:09

BTW Scout, it is completely your fault that I bought Oreos today. Because I always do what people on the internet suggest I do. Grin

Thumbwitch · 22/09/2011 12:19

Yay to skateboard park being open and good for the tearoomers who are giving it a go

Tee2072 · 22/09/2011 12:22

I have actually seen two young men on the street recently with trousers as described by Thumb; so low they basically waddled when they walked.

I really wanted to tap them on the shoulder and say "You look like an idiot, not cool, not hip, idiotic. Pull up your damn trousers."

LittleDeerandMe · 22/09/2011 12:26

Scout - what's going on with fb? I suppose I could just check it Grin!

In laws and dh went this morning, I'm now cleaning the house as we have a playdate here this afternoon.

Scout19075 · 22/09/2011 12:26

You know, I used to think those things even when I was younger/not a mother. [uncool, unhip kid emoticon]

mistlethrush · 22/09/2011 12:30

Grin at TW! I can't contemplate how people keep their trousers up when they're so low slung (the trousers, ladies, the trousers! Shock) or how it can be remotely comfortable going around like that.

I'm not sure whether it was in here that I commented, but there was one morning I was driving into work and there was a bike 'balancing' waiting to turn right just to the left front of where I was (also turning). The rider was of a 'no back mudguard' persuasion and it had been raiding overnight. Of course there was the resultant spray onto his back. The real trouble was that he had low slung trousers that left at least 6" of pants exposed - up which - you guessed it - was a nice spray mark, which of course looked like something else being where it was.

So far this week, mc has played his violin, voluntarily, every morning - and complained this morning that dh didn't let him play it last night (I stayed working late). I am SO pleased we got the old one (and got it discounted and some work done on it) - it actually sounds lovely (when he's trying to play long bows rather than trying to play the right note). And in the few days he's actually been playing properly, he's now managed to get the hang of which open string is which note on the page. Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/09/2011 12:48

The low slung trousers thing is very prevalent here too. I saw a yoof a few days ago whose jeans were so low slung that his belt must have been below his ::ahem:: cheeks. In what way is that supposed to be attractive?

::disapproving old lady emoticon::

Can someone explain what exactly FB have done? I know it all looks different, but does it go deeper than that - is it making stuff public that used to be hidden?

Thumbwitch · 22/09/2011 12:50

So it's sounding like an actual violin now, rather than a viledin, MT? Wink

Scout - me too on the uncool, unhip kid Grin

I am watching (oh the shame!) Beauty and the Geek, Australia. It is entertaining me because for the first time they have introduced a male beauty and a female Geek - heh heh heh - am looking forward to how that works out! The male Geeks are completely freaked and intimidated by the male Beauty (expected) but the girls are equally intimidated by the female geek (not so expected!)

mistlethrush · 22/09/2011 13:10

Still a bit of both TW to be honest - because apparently (actually quite understandably) you forget all about the nice long smooth bows you've been doing when listening when you're trying to actually play the right string for the right note - so you go back to tiny bows near the heel with insufficient speed to sound properly!!!!
