Turkish Tearoom? Turkish Bath? Anyway, a Turkish delight awaits...

Picture the scene...

From the edge of every terrace and every step hang brilliantly white stalactites, and you can hear the joyful splashing of the waters of the hot springs as they cascade down over slopes where their flow is impeded only by clumps of oleanders.

Nearby is an oasis of refreshments, in our Pamukkale residence, air conditioned and with white washed generously proportioned rooms, with Mellors at the ready, to offer Turkish Massage to anyone who wishes.

The NMBs are in their element, whereas the bishops seem to have found their speedoes again.

Priest's hole is at the back, in a quiet shaded area, stocked with What Car magazines, Turkish rugs and Turkish delight

I'm actually quite glad dd can't talk yet- I've a suspicion I won't be able to shut her up once she starts! Smile what sort of show do you mean? Sorry, still quite new here!

UniS · 19/08/2011 20:20

show one is horticultural show- Prizes ( cash, modest) for best fruit and veg and home baking and craft. Show two is a fashion show/ fancy dress show that DS and I have been making things for all week at holiday club workshops.

Steeplearningcurve · 19/08/2011 20:23

That sounds like fun. I used to make loads of clothes and jewellery before I had dd, really hoping I get time to do it again. My dream is to sell enough jewellery so I can escape from work, but only sold to family and friends so far.

Tee2072 · 19/08/2011 20:54

Evening all.

Have been dealing with poorly computers all day. Have one replacement, thanks to a friend and one fixed thanks to long conversation with tech support. Did someone say Wine?!?!

Amber, rest! And have fun celebrating with FineLad!!!

Good luck tomorrow UniS. I hate it when things get shoved in my face. Gets LCT in trouble a lot, actually.

Steeplearningcurve · 19/08/2011 20:59

think you deserve that after dealing with computers all day!

Scout19075 · 19/08/2011 21:04

It would be bad of me to a have RL wine, wouldn't it?

Actually, feeling a bit sick from eating crap all day.

Good luck tomorrow, UniS.

Tee2072 · 19/08/2011 21:22

Why would it be bad Scout?

Donki · 19/08/2011 22:49

Please can I join Scout in having a Wine
The YD has been testing the limits all day....... his life expectancy was definitely diminishing....

Thumbwitch · 20/08/2011 07:55

Good luck today UniS! Hope you win lots of prizes :)

Amber, I am feeling better today thank you - a short sharp cold, it would appear - hope it doesn't linger on my chest. :)

I get very snippy if miniThumb (or anyone really) shoves things in my face. I used to work with a man who had terrible problems with invading personal space - and to make it worse, he had shocking halitosis and was not much taller than me. I had to take to putting one foot sideways (almost against his toes) in front of me, then taking a step back with the other and leaning on that leg to get away from his proximity!

miniThumb has been out with MIL and 2 older girls that belong to a friend of MIL's today. HE has just come back and is wired.

Thoughtful question: how old should a child be before they are allowed to own marbles? I think I was school age, probably even 7 before I was allowed them - any other offers?

DutchOma · 20/08/2011 09:42

Old enough not to be losing them!! Grin

Thumbwitch · 20/08/2011 09:47
Grin
Scout19075 · 20/08/2011 18:53

But young enough to not have lost them!

Scout19075 · 20/08/2011 18:54

Poor Toddler -- I wish those fangs and second molars would just cut for the poor boy already!

Scout19075 · 20/08/2011 20:18

Oh I am enjoying this Saturday night without MrScout luxery chocolate ice cream (something I usually never buy for myself) and X Factor. Think TS has finally given up the fight and gone to sleep (I gave him drugs about half and hour before putting him down poor sore gums). Having a pause before doing the washing up, etc.

Donki · 20/08/2011 20:41

Thumb - the YD was 7 before we got him any marbles, however I have not noticed any interest in marbles amongst his peer group. Glad to hear that the cold has fizzled.

UniS How did you do?

I have just delivered the YD to my MiL for the week. And the best of British luck to her! (I am sure he will be fine - I don't think he will be boundary testing in the same way...) So what debauchery shall I get upto this week without him?

Finally going to see Harry Potter at the cinema?
Going out for an anniversary meal with DH?
Getting all my school prep done....?

Unfortunately I think the last one wins - but I'm hoping to sneak in the other two as well! Grin

I have a large sack of carrots and a bucket of hot chocolate for anyone who wants it, and the tea room is smelling wonderful! I have just put down a fresh bale of sweet smelling new hay...

Scout19075 · 20/08/2011 20:52

Donki, I vote for Harry Potter. We finally got to see it last weekend and I enjoyed it (though think if you didn't see Part 1 you'll be a bit lost).

Went up to check on TS and he managed to pull some books into bed with him and had fallen asleep with one next to him and one across him. Awww, bless.

CMOTdibbler · 20/08/2011 21:02

Like golddust that is y'know. £30 a big bale already, and I'm having to give dpony a haynet once a day as there is no grass at all.

AIBU to think that maybe mil and fil could have wanted to spend a little time with ds over the summer ? They were on holiday from the end of April to mid July, and go back September 3rd till end of October. This means they'll have seen him twice in 6 months.

Scout19075 · 20/08/2011 22:15

Who has the snacks?

beanandspud · 20/08/2011 22:56

Just popping in with snacks - cashews and Percy Pigs tonight.

Busy day with parents, absolutely shattered and heading to bed.

CMOT - not unreasonable at all but probably one of those things where it is better just to accept that that's the case than to waste emotional energy feeling angry/upset. We rarely see the in-laws due to distance/health/time etc. and I suspect they possibly feel that we could/should make more effort. On the other hand we see my parents about once a month and could see them more often but they always feel they need to be formally invited! The fun of families....

Donki · 20/08/2011 23:47

Oi!

Where is a Donki supposed to sleep at night huh? It took me ages to find that hay....

Donki · 20/08/2011 23:48

Scout

They are very tasty!

Thumbwitch · 20/08/2011 23:58

Well I must say I thought 3 was too young for marbles myself.

Hay's very expensive, isn't it? I remember my horse-owning friend fretting when bale prices went up more than expected one year (I think it was bad harvest year so there was a shortage)

We love carrots here

Scout19075 · 21/08/2011 19:43

Might break down and have a RL Wine. I hate drinking alone -- who's going to join me?

Cheers for the carrots, Donki. Nice and crunchy.

Thumb, do you find yourself going to old things there and thinking "this isn't old"? When we do tourist things here I often find myself thinking "this is older than my country!" The church MrScout and I got married in certainly was!

Does anyone have any tips on how to get a Toddler to stop kicking his headboard (and occasionally the wall)? I ignore ignore ignore and it's getting worse, not better. I can't handle the banging any more!

amberlight · 21/08/2011 20:31

Yes please for Wine.
Take the headboard away? Might be worth padding the wall temporarily.

Scout19075 · 21/08/2011 20:35

Can't take the headboard away -- it helps hold the rails in place. Sad He's still in a cot (though it's a cot bed so will eventually become a "big boy bed." I'm not sure how to pad the wall. It's usually the headboard he goes for....

Sorry, mugs and pint glasses are all I have. Nothing says class like white wine in a "Bang on the Door" Caterpillar Eats His Greens mug. Grin
