Picture the scene...

From the edge of every terrace and every step hang brilliantly white stalactites, and you can hear the joyful splashing of the waters of the hot springs as they cascade down over slopes where their flow is impeded only by clumps of oleanders.

Nearby is an oasis of refreshments, in our Pamukkale residence, air conditioned and with white washed generously proportioned rooms, with Mellors at the ready, to offer Turkish Massage to anyone who wishes.

The NMBs are in their element, whereas the bishops seem to have found their speedoes again.

Priest's hole is at the back, in a quiet shaded area, stocked with What Car magazines, Turkish rugs and Turkish delight

TW, he's not going on to Uni this year - taking a year out to plan what to do next, so no pressure on grades thankfully

Thumbwitch · 18/08/2011 11:06

That's good! I think the less pressure on any of you at the moment, the better! :)

Brew?

amberlight · 18/08/2011 11:13

Please! Smile

CMOTdibbler · 18/08/2011 11:47

How about some celebratory squishy chocolate and cream cakes ?
My oldest niece and nephew got into their university courses, so I am thrilled for them, esp my niece as it has not been easy getting the grades at all for her.

JM, have you thought about doing a lot of modelling of trying new things ? Talking about 'mummy hasn't done this before, so she's a bit worried, but I'm going to give it a try, and sometimes you have to give things a few tries before you enjoy it' sort of thing

Scout19075 · 18/08/2011 12:20

Well done, FL!

I have a poorly Toddler, full of sneezes and cold. Sad

And I finally got an appointment for Toddler's first hair cut. I'm gutted. I know it needs to be done and but it just feels like by having it done I'm losing my baby (forever) and am now the mother of a real, proper little boy. It's not until the start of next week so I have all weekend to mourn the loss of my baby and celebrate my boy.

beanandspud · 18/08/2011 12:54

Well done Fine Lad - great news!

Scout - early start and poorly toddler = not fun. Hope you can both snuggle down for a 'duvet day' and get better.

Wish me luck - I am taking Small Bean for pre-school vaccinations this afternoon Sad. The baby ones were hard enough (to the point where the nurse always had a box of tissues ready - for me). Trying to put on a cheerful face and have loaded handbag with chocolate.

Tee2072 · 18/08/2011 15:33

Well done FineLad!

Scout! Yikes! How's the spider?

I am very mad that the place that usually cuts LCT's hair refused to do it today because he was crying. So what? He always cries! I have given up on them and am buying hair clippers tomorrow and doing it myself. It's either that or let him have long hair as no one else in Belfast seems to cut children's hair. At least no where I can get to easily. I use the same hair place so I'll be looking for somewhere new for me as well.

beanandspud · 18/08/2011 17:10

Tee - that's just rubbish - I would be really cross. Surely if you aren't stressed out by him crying they should take their lead from you? Sometimes you wonder who is the customer?!

UniS · 18/08/2011 19:15

well done teh fine lad.

Boo Hiss for wimpy hairdressers Tee. Clippers is fine and not very hard once DS is used to teh buzzing and stop trying to unscrew his head to find it.I clipper DH and DS. Started out with DS sat on DHs lap.

Scout19075 · 18/08/2011 20:48

Yes, Tee, Boo Hiss for wimpy hairdressers. I'm taking Toddler to the place where I go and they're willing to work with the littles. They said we can go early so TS can check the place out and to take snacks & toys if I think they'll help and wherever he wants to sit the chair, the sofa, the floor, my lap, any combination of they'll cut his hair there. They also said screaming/crying is part of the process.

Well, I've bowed out of Guides for this coming term. MrScout still doesn't have his visa yet so we don't know when TS and I are going but I'm keeping my diary open. Have to go to the pool tomorrow and see if I book for toddler swimming will they refund the months we're not there or can I go on a week-to-week basis. I'm hoping they will, especially since we've gone for the past four terms and will continue again in January. I don't want to not book in case we don't go but swimming's costly this term (long term) so don't want to waste the money. I'm just glad I don't have the weekly night commitment (I won't do it even if TS and I don't go away since MrScout usually collects TS and puts him to bed).

Scout19075 · 18/08/2011 20:49

Anyone have any suggestions for tomorrow that aren't the park/playground? It's very wet here and don't think tomorrow's forecast is much better.

Tee2072 · 18/08/2011 20:52

Scout before the hair cutting fiasco, LCT had a lovely time walking around the mall. Almost no one there on a weekend morning so very easy to just let him walk along and look at what he wanted to look at with no chance of losing sight of him. Weather here is totally rubbish I am really glad he's at nursery tomorrow and will get plenty of run around time with them!

beanandspud · 18/08/2011 21:15

Scout - are you close to a station? We often take a train to the next town, have tea and a cake and then come back! Small Bean just enjoys the ride.

beanandspud · 18/08/2011 21:20

Forgot to say that I have opened Wine to celebrate surviving Small Bean's injections. I tried to be honest with him and explain that it would be 'spikey' but over quickly and apart from a 10second cry he was fine (chocolate helped!!!) I was actually really proud of him.

Opticians tomorrow - I may be pushing my luck...

UniS · 18/08/2011 21:42

Train with toddler is a good idea, Boy and I used to do that. He loved teh station bustle.

Can you bear to get the play dough/ paint/ tray of rice or flour out at home?

I assume you have done a splashy wet walk or three this week.

Ceebebies.....

Scout19075 · 18/08/2011 21:50

Toddler hates (and I do mean hates!) playdough. Runs a mile the other way. And the train stations closest to us either don't have any facilities or have the minimum through the barriers so can't even go for a drink and watch the trains. Have done lots of walks this week (he even got to drive the trolley at the store today when we went for more juice and stuff to make dinners/lunches). Am thinking that later in the weekend/Monday, if the weather picks up a bit, we'll go to the National Trust Farm to pet the animals and play on their playground. Might have to bite the bullet and go to Toddlers in the morning.

Well done, SmallBean! Good job being brave! Grin Chocolate cures everything. How did you do, bean?

beanandspud · 18/08/2011 22:14

I was ok (just). I had a few tears in my eyes but I am a complete wuss! It's like a reflex reaction - anyone hurts my baby and I cry!!!

For what it's worth I hate play dough as well!

How are you managing on your own? How is Mr Scout? How long until he is back?

amberlight · 19/08/2011 13:38

Brew and soup du jour available, avec les rolls Turkish et suggestif

Thumbwitch · 19/08/2011 13:48

Cheers amber! How are you feeling now, are things starting to return to normal for you?
Did you have a nice big celebration of the Fine Lad's results?

amberlight · 19/08/2011 17:31

We're doing a bit more celebrating tomorrow and next week.
I'm not sure how I feel....
How are you, though?

Scout19075 · 19/08/2011 19:22

I need Wine.

How are all of the poorly and on-the-mend tea roomers this evening?

Steeplearningcurve · 19/08/2011 19:46

Sounds like theres been a few bugs going around. Hope everyone is well this evening and looking forward to the weekend. Got back from a meeting in London and got dd to bed so I've opened the wine in celebration if anyone is interested...

Scout19075 · 19/08/2011 20:04

Yes please to wine. TS is stressing me out this evening.

Steeplearningcurve · 19/08/2011 20:10

sorry you are stressed out Sad did you find something nice to do today?

UniS · 19/08/2011 20:13

ohhh yes please, def wine O'clock. Boy has been winding me up all afternoon. Just non stop noise, yatter yatter question question question no spaces for answers yatter yatter and he kept putting stuff right ion my face to show me. ARRRGH. I snapped a few times. Not his fault that I'm feeling a bit rough with period today and slightly stressed with guest this weekend and 2 shows to get stuff into tomorrow morning. Not that teh shows are important, BUT, I do like to try and enter good work.

Soup and a rool would be hand y too, in a nice big mug I can cuddle.
