To pinch an intro from the very first one and only tea room thread. in 2009.

The tea room is now officially open, serving hot chocolate, tea, freshly-squeezed orange juice and a range of home-baked muffins. Tablecloths and crockery are charmingly mismatched antiques (no Cath Kidston here). We overlook an attractive although somewhat overgrown garden, with a distant view of rolling countryside.

Everyone is welcome but house rules dictate that anyone indulging in fisticuffs will be ejected.

Please come in.

We seem to have fetched up in Ireland, this place looks remarkably like a pub,There is even a guiness barrel over there. The NMBs are all sporting shamrocks. The mirror ball is here, but I leave teh rest of the unpacking to someone else.

Re: masked man, I think we came across as too desperate UniS :o

V. tired and slept this afternoon. Feel very lethargic. Why am i feeling like this?

mistlethrush · 19/07/2011 18:31

Do you think if we left some cake out with a teaspoon next to it (carefully chained up of course) we might interest them in coming back?

Spent the day on the beach, gautex zipped up, part of the time under an umbrella (with the dog when I could coax her under the 'frightening' umbrella (Hmm)

Had to drag mistlechick kicking and screaming back to the car park (more or less). Aren't wetsuits wonderful!!!

Oh - and we're perfecting the dash out of the car to be sick now rather than simply resorting to recepticle in car.... making progress Grin

UniS · 19/07/2011 19:14

Cake- large and chocolaty and gooey- in position.
Tea spoon securely fastened next to it. Check.

All other tea spoons securely locked away in Ambers tea spoonairium.

Denizens of teh Tea room behind the bird hide ( that big screen thing in the corner covered in chintz throws, don;t worry there is loads of space and the Bar is in that corner. Check.

Now we wait.

Will teh teaspoon thief repeat its rare appearance or was it just a megapixie in a mischievous moment??

What am I supposed to sleep on?

Scout19075 · 19/07/2011 21:11

Please, please, PLEASE, when asked to fill out and return a form for your offspring, make sure you READ everything, COMPLETE ALL relevent parts/questions, and ONLY RETURN the part of the form you're meant to.

Honestly, half of my permission forms for camp (a week away in the deepest darkest Norfolk!) came back missing emergency contact information! And a quarter of the forms didn't have the yes or no bit circled for which adventure activities the girls could/couldn't participate in.

beanandspud · 19/07/2011 21:49

Scout - that would drive me mad! Are you allowed to just fill in 999 for the emergency contact and circle rock climbing/abseiling/potholing on their behalf Wink? I'm assuming instead that it involves a whole round of phone calls and emails etc??

Please join me with a restorative Wine. I survived taking a 3-yr old to London for the day and felt quite pleased with myself - I can't even begin to imagine taking 20 teenage girls camping in Norfolk

::takes off hat to Scout::

Scout19075 · 19/07/2011 22:07

Blush Actually, I have 7 Seniors, 25 Guides, 1 Rainbow and 4 other/non-Guiding children (two of which are toddlers under 3). Oh, and two of the participants have come over from the States. I have girls coming, girls going, staff/leaders coming and going. Travel sickness, wonky eating (likes/dislikes, not religious or veggy diets), medicine, tents to borrow, gaz cans to get filled and a hut (and house) full of crap to load into a trailer and onto a coach (with girls and all of their shit kit).

It's at this point in the process where I want to weep and wonder why I do it. When I get there it's fine.

I'm doing it mostly by email -- most of the parents work during the day and it's hard to call with Toddler up and their evenings are so manic I dare not call.

What did you get up to in London?

beanandspud · 19/07/2011 22:37

Blimey Scout - that sounds crazy - why are you not running the country? It's people like you though that make these things happen and mean that organisations like Guides keep going - I am very seriously impressed. Is Toddler Scout going with you?

Spent today at the Natural History Museum with friends. I have been a few times before but it was fantastic to see some of it again through 'toddler eyes'. Small Bean was shattered by the end - the highlights for him were seeing the Flying Scotsman engine at the station, the train ride and the underground. He liked the dinosaurs but not as much as the ride in a black cab Grin. Oh, and he insisted on getting a postcard of Prince William and Kate to take to nursery tomorrow Hmm.

My highlight was the businessman who didn't get off the train on time and had to carry on 40 miles to the next station!

Donki · 19/07/2011 23:59

Thankyou Scout!

Morning all!

Tee2072 · 20/07/2011 09:14

Morning all.

ARRGGHH! Another earlish wake up thanks to a leaky nappy. Anyone have any recommendations? Pampers is really letting me down.

Brew?

CMOTdibbler · 20/07/2011 10:37

bean, ds loves a ride in a 'proper' taxi too - not sure what is so special tbh

Holiday starts tomorrow ! Although we don't go away till next week - so maybe I should start corralling camping stuff tomorrow Hmm

Coffee and cream cakes anyone ?

AandO · 20/07/2011 16:15

I will shortly be placing a large plate of crumpets on the tea room table....I am making them at the mo in rl using a hugh fearnley whittingstall recipe. Yummy... or at least I hope they'll turn out that way Grin!

amberlight · 20/07/2011 16:30

Did someone say coffee, cream cakes and crumpets? Yes please!

Leaky nappies - Tesco have a very good reputation for their nappy range. Might be worth a go...

MaryBS · 20/07/2011 18:37

Donki, PLEASE don't eat the hay until Amber gets down, we don't want any accidents!

UniS · 20/07/2011 19:24

coffee cake, cream tea and crumpets?? perfect. Count me in.

Donki · 20/07/2011 19:29

Thankyou Amber and CMOT

And what a lovely deep bed of hay. Were they big bales?

Oh no! where is my sack of carrots? Don't tell me you buried it......

Tee2072 · 20/07/2011 21:05

OMG LCT actually fell asleep before 9! It's a miracle.

Who has the Pimms and Twiglet Surprise?

Scout19075 · 20/07/2011 21:10

Tee, we use the Tesco ones. Usually no problems. We switched last year when Pampers changed their diapers.

Had a call this morning just after 7 a.m. from MiL that hospital where my NaniL is rang to say they had better visit. Whole family rallied 'round in Herts very quickly. Overnight/early morning Nan had major stroke and prognosis is not good. She's in her mid-90s and has a full life but the last few years have not been kind to her body. Please pray for a quiet and pain free passing for her and strength for my MiL (as it's her mother and the last remaining grandparent for MrScout and his sisters).

Scout19075 · 20/07/2011 21:12

Oh!

And on a positive note, things are looking really good for MrScout's working in the States and therefore us going, too!

amberlight · 20/07/2011 21:13
Blush

Hurrah re LCT!
