Tearoom 25 - Benvenute a Venezia!

1001 replies

thumbwitch · 08/04/2011 00:28

YOu find us this time in a glorious palazzo in Venice, near to St. Mark's square, and on the water. With gondolas and vaporetti in abundance to transport us around to the various sights etc.

The palazzo itself of course has marble floors and fabulous murano chandeliers but aside of that we have the usual distressed chintz comfy sofas, assorted animals, bishops in their corner, priesthole for emergencies and a single solitary aspidistra in a bomb-proof glass cage to protect it from the ravages of a certain Canadian.

All are welcome - drop by for a cuppa, a glass of something stronger and a chat and relax in the safe and kind surroundings here.

Cin cin! Wine

A propos the Royal Wedding, . Girl and I are obsessed with it and she has taught herself all the moves.

::Proud mummy emoticon::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/04/2011 23:01

I've been looking for a source on the question of the Sovereign's right (or not) to vote. It seems the Royal family aren't prohibited from voting, but elect (so to speak) not to do so. See the Monarchy website.

beanandspud · 18/04/2011 23:04

Good evening!

Hope everyone is ok. Tee - sorry that you're having a rough day.

Maud - I love that clip, it makes me smile every time.

UniS · 18/04/2011 23:12

bolly here please.

ohhhh, bubbles up me nose.

I did take boy to the Dr today, Dr says, not chest infection... maybe hayfever/ allergy reaction cough, try anti histamines for a month see what happens.

Boy had a nap again in afternoon, having spent much of the morning on his bike. he should be well rested by teh time school go back next week.

Mistle- I shall PM you....

Donki · 18/04/2011 23:12

Does anyone remember the Pooh sticks scene in Winne the Pooh, and what happens to poor Eeyore, when someone drops a large rock and narrowly misses him?

Let's just say that the generator narrowly missed me as I was practising donkey-paddle in the canal.....

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/04/2011 23:26

Oh dear, Donki. Here - have a galvanised bucket of tea and some select carrots.

Hi again beanandspud. I am trying to spread that clip all over the interweb. I know it is but a vulgar commercial, but it does make me smile. I think I might practice the Princess Anne moves, ready for the next tea room disco.

UniS · 18/04/2011 23:26

poor donki.
Unis strokes donk'is ears and finds a stray thistle for her.

thumbbunny · 19/04/2011 00:36

I love that clip too - it's the funniest thing! although Kate's moves are a bit on the staid side, I thought. Grin

Donki - am Shock to hear that someone's been throwing generators at you!! eeeep!

UniS - hope that Boy responds well to the antihistamines, although that might then indicate a propensity towards hayfever, which is a pity. I have something like it at the moment and it's Very Annoying.

Was someon waving Bolly around earlier? Ta very much (holds glass at appropriate point in the arc to catch some of the flying fizz)

teafortwo · 19/04/2011 08:23

Unserp - I love blaming no Easter card on the English weather. We did simple ones for Grandparents - coloured in printed off colouring page on a card.

[lazy]

I sent an Easter bonnet to my little
neice... a straw hat with mock Liberty print bow.

Tee2072 · 19/04/2011 08:29

Gosh, I hadn't even considered Easter Cards from LCT to Grandparents! Confused

LCT is off to work this morning with MrTee. No classes to teach so MrTee decided to show LCT where he worked and show him off a bit! It means I get to go to the grocery store with no little person in tow! Bliss! [boring emoticon] Wink

thumbbunny · 19/04/2011 08:36

buggeration! How daft am I - went all out to post niece's birthday card today, despite knowing that it isn't going to get there in time because I should have posted it yesterday and her birthday is Good Friday - and knowing that it was actually Good Friday I still failed to realise that I should have also posted my Easter cards! What a tit. Blush

teafortwo · 19/04/2011 09:37

The generator thing is confusing - is it a metaphor for something or did it really happen???

[still the morning]

We are going to the farm today - YIIIPPPPEEEE!!!!

teafortwo · 19/04/2011 09:38

Thumb - your post made me laugh like a kookabura (sp?).

Scout19075 · 19/04/2011 09:38

(Selling a toddler -- cheap!)

amberlight · 19/04/2011 10:03

Who can discern whether what goes on in here is a metaphor or reflective of real life events or just fevered imagination? Grin

Scout, how much for the toddler? Can they be put to useful duties like sweeping chimneys yet?? Have a Brew. Can swap you for an 18 yr old with too much attitude?

Tee, enjoy that freedom!

I'm feeling a bit cream-crackered. I suspect I should, though.

beanandspud · 19/04/2011 10:22

Scout - I am happy to part-exchange toddler for a 3 year old who thinks he is a teenager this morning - 'it's not fair mummy... I want to stay in bed and watch trains on your iPad'.

LOL swallowedafly about it being 'years' since he had a lolly. Ask him if that means he had one before age 1!!

beanandspud · 19/04/2011 13:30

Swallowedafly - I would also love to know where the dramatics come from. Last week he fell off a slide and 'almost died' - goodness where he learned that.

Their grasp of technology scares the life out of me though. I still remember the high school having one computer that was pushed round on a trolley - if you were lucky you might touch it once a year!

Scout19075 · 19/04/2011 13:52

Toddler's useful qualitities include: opening/closing doors, putting laundry in/out of machine (usually the opposite of what you want him to do), drinking lots of liquid, eating, sleeping and cuddles. Not so useful qualitities include: doing the opposite of what you want, sitting on the floor and wailing for unknown reasons and fighting during bottom changes and getting dressed. Qualities that are good or bad depending on your opinion: chasing cats meowing at them (not for harm but because he loves them and wants to study them and stroke them), opening/closing doors/cabinets/the washing machine, cuddly, painting.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 19/04/2011 15:03

Swallowedafly - every morning Serpent makes breakfast for M.Snake and Wriggle. Yesterday Wriggle fell asleep again in bed with me so M.Snake brought tea and toast. Wriggle: 'Serpent, why do you never make breakfast?' Hmm

Today is my birthday. I bought myself a nice rain jacket in the sale from dh, a lovely tunic and spring 'card' as Wriggle calls them in a vivid shade of pink from AP and frogmarched dh to a stall at the market to buy a cake. Friend dropped in with her toddler this morning and the children played in the paddling pool and toddler spent a happy couple of hours trying to fall out of the tree house. Perfect! (RacingHound stole the cake.)

DutchOma · 19/04/2011 16:21

Happy birthday Serpent

MaryBS · 19/04/2011 17:54

Yes, happy birthday! Eek, re: stolen cake! Not stollen then?

teafortwo · 19/04/2011 18:03

Happy birthday to youuuu!!!!!!!!!!

Many happy returns of the day, unserp!

teafortwo · 19/04/2011 18:21

Our farm trip today went very well indeed... except...

My friend and I couldn't stop talking and the children were running about like looneys. SUDDENLY her two year old completely disappears. "Where is HEEEEEEEE" screams my friend.

"He is right down there" Explained an American woman with children that were unnaturally clean for a farm visit and probably smelt of roses. "You better run or something because he is heading right out of the farm VERY quickly..."

GULP!!!

so Milk, me, my friend and her big boy all ran after the two year old who I SWEAR was under a Nanny McFee spell iyswim!!!!

When we got him he screaaaaaaamed and screeeeamed like a piglet -

WOW!!!!

Lesson: Don't chitter chatter too much at a farm when lickle childrenliwinks are in your care!!!
