Tearoom 25 - Benvenute a Venezia!

thumbwitch · 08/04/2011 00:28

YOu find us this time in a glorious palazzo in Venice, near to St. Mark's square, and on the water. With gondolas and vaporetti in abundance to transport us around to the various sights etc.

The palazzo itself of course has marble floors and fabulous murano chandeliers but aside of that we have the usual distressed chintz comfy sofas, assorted animals, bishops in their corner, priesthole for emergencies and a single solitary aspidistra in a bomb-proof glass cage to protect it from the ravages of a certain Canadian.

All are welcome - drop by for a cuppa, a glass of something stronger and a chat and relax in the safe and kind surroundings here.

Cin cin! Wine

Ooo, what was she doing?

Scout19075 · 18/04/2011 07:53

She has a medical condition and had had strokes/seizures as a baby. She had a really bad one while I was pregnant and they didn't think she'd make it. But she did and she's slowly walking/talking again. The clip was for another fundraiser they had for her to help pay for the rehab, modified supplies, etc.

MaryBS · 18/04/2011 09:36

Does her name begin with M - in which case I saw that news article too?

Scout19075 · 18/04/2011 09:38

It does, Mary. Usually my friend tells me when there's event and she didn't tell me about this one, so was surprised to see her/her parents (who I know) before I even heard the name.

MaryBS · 18/04/2011 09:41

I thought she was lovely :)

Scout19075 · 18/04/2011 12:25

My friend was in the clip, too. Thought I saw her the first time but it was confirmed the second one. She is a lovely little girl and looks/is amazing to how she was 18 months ago.

I am the proud Mommy owner of four new painting and one amazingly clean Toddler. Shock

Tee2072 · 18/04/2011 16:29

Afternoon.

Having a bad health day so I've been working a bit and resting a lot. I hope all are well!

Wow, Scout, 4 paintings and a clean toddler? You must get nursery to tell you their secret! Glad your friends daughter is doing better.

MrTee is picking LCT up so I really should do some MNing tidying before they get home!

teafortwo · 18/04/2011 18:11

Milk: Mummy come and see - I am going to glue the picture I made for my baby cousin on our livingroom wall.

Me: Do you really need me to explain why that is basically nuts?

Milk: (starts eating the blue tac) La la la - Cousin will like this more on the wall...

teafortwo · 18/04/2011 18:18

Evening all!

Off work all this week, made a start on cleaning out all the kitchen cupboards this morning, got about half done and then went to a big local park. Never been there before. Was lovely seeing the ducks etc!

CMOTdibbler · 18/04/2011 19:55

Evenin all. Back from the US, and had a delightfully geeky moment this morning as the transit at heathrow from T5 to the business car park is finally working and I got to ride it. Lovely and accessible too Smile

amberlight · 18/04/2011 20:17

Ooo, Bolly! Just the thing!

Yay re the transit!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/04/2011 20:39

::awaits Amber's powerpoint presentation illustrating the bottle's trajectory::

Tee2072 · 18/04/2011 20:42

::ducks the drops of bolly flying around the tea room from the swinging bottle::

amberlight · 18/04/2011 20:51

Are we sitting comfortably?

::Amber arranges her wig into a suitably Einstein-like birds-nest and dons her Mad Professor white overalls::

::Mellors pulls the fuse out of the Powerpoint box::

Oy! Put that back right now! Hmm

::Mellors chucks the emergency generator into the nearest Canal, narrowly avoiding several tea room occupants apparently taking a late evening swim in their birthday suits Blush Shock ::

Wriggle, who is still suffering Unnatural Fatigue, slept all afternoon and is now Very Full Of Energy. In fact, she is howling like a puppy lost on an island Confused, which is in turn making RacingHound cry.

When she woke up, we sat down to make Easter cards for various friends, grandmothers, etc. She made a card for Vesna with great enthusiasm and creativity ... and then totally refused to make another. How will I explain this to Mamia? (I usually find that blaming the English weather works for almost everything.) Now I need to find the Very Safe Place where I have recorded Tea's address.

Scout19075 · 18/04/2011 21:28

for Wiggle and Wine for UnSerp when Wiggle finally goes to sleep.

Ohhh, CMOT, is the bolly Californian?

I love a good powerpoint.

Tee, I'm sorry you're poorly today.

Scout19075 · 18/04/2011 21:33

Because I have an odd facination regarding the Royal Family don't give a toss who the princes marry but the pomp and protocol are facinating I got to thinking while making dinner. When Kate marries William does that mean she has to give up her right to vote?

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 18/04/2011 22:12

Presumably, yes. But since most people don't bother anyway ...

Scout19075 · 18/04/2011 22:22

I've never missed an election I'm eligible to vote in (US and UK).

Scout19075 · 18/04/2011 22:36

Having discussion with MrScout re above question. He keeps saying it would be taken away, she wouldn't give it up. But if Kate (or Camilla for that matter) will never be Head of State why shouldn't they be political (read: vote, not go and be an MP or something)?
