Tea Room The 24th - San Francisco Painted Lady!

Welcome to the 24th incarnation of the One-Child Tea Room. Not that you only have to have one! Just so long as you enjoy chat, tea, coffee, cake!!

The usual rules apply - no bunfighting. If you like that sort of thing, go elsewhere.
Other rules: bring Wine. Or Brew.

Our ongoing voyage take us to one of San Francisco's Painted Ladies!

We've brought the Aga over, it's in the back in the cosy kitchen overlooking the back garden. The chintz sofa is in the front room, under the bow window! All of the pillows and duvets have come along as well!

What's that? The Priest Hole? It's just over there --> behind the bookcase!

Mellors is upstairs, preparing the bedrooms for naps and such. Wink

The aspidistras are thriving as they overlook Nob Hill! The horses have found themselves stabled in the Garden, which is much larger than these places usually are in this city!

So come in and have a seat!

::tea hurries off to Powell Street to catch the Cable Car to Ghirardelli Square::

I'll run errands for you, Tee. Nice and sunny here in Berks.

Maud, TS and I are having lunch with his G-parents then heading home to Scoutshire.

Am really rather hungry -- wish I had bagels in RL.

MaryBS · 04/04/2011 11:11

UniS, hope ad 3 is successful. We haven't even advertised and have interviewed a candidate, which seems a strange way of doing it, really. I still don't understand how you can make a proper decision without having a say in who it is, but there you go... argh. Its caused a bit of upset in the church, to say the least!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/04/2011 11:12

Morning all! I'm going to spend the morning in the garden with Mellors sowing seeds.

::grabs bagel::

UniS · 04/04/2011 11:19

I kinda see how a candidate can be interviewed pre job advert. If the diocese have a candidate from elsewhere in the area who may be a good fit for a parish. It becomes an internal job move situation.

Morning all.

I've just had some fudge, would you like some??

Off to fill in a job application form now. For a post that as far as I know is being advertised by word of mouth.

Hello all Smile Ds went bouncing off to holiday club today - he is very excited at it being all the good bits of school, and no work Grin. Also the excitement of a packed lunch - we let him choose, so he has 2 sandwiches and 8 different fruits and veggies

Tee2072 · 04/04/2011 14:34

Thanks Scout, the weather actually cleared before I left to run my errands. Now I am taking a break from checking the company accounts for the year. That may kill me! Grin

Yes please UniS!

CURRY NIGHT - oooh yes very very good!!!! Smile I am toying with coming over for Spring hols... but Springtime in Paris is hard to leave... might wait until the summer kicks in.

Brew time?

Seeing as the current bun recipe CMOT gave us was obviously completely fool proof such a success Milk and I have decided to make current buns for the school cake sale! I We are ridiciously excited about it!

Thanks again CMOT! x

UNiS - Hmmm - your job ap sounds very underground and interesting!

::waves at everyone between rushing about doing the unpacking::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/04/2011 15:02

Amber - Stop rushing and move instead at a leisurely pace. Or we will have to get Mellors to tie you to the distressed chintz sofa again.

Twiglet tikka masala and lewd poppadoms for lunch, anyone?

::Ooops. Maud notices what time is it, having lost all track of it while getting her hands dirty in the garden::

amberlight · 04/04/2011 15:05

Wise advice, esp since chemo has given me a hurty arm and I've gotta see the doc later - grr

::holds out plate for Tikka and lewd poppadom:: Blush Shock

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/04/2011 15:14

::Looks sternly over her lorgnette::

Amber!

::Dusts off fake doctor's diploma, bought for £20 from a nice man on the internet::

It is my considered medical opinion that you are overdoing it. Sit down and eat your twiglet tikka masala and lewd poppadom or I shall have to send you to see the Scary Nurse.

amberlight · 04/04/2011 15:18

::sits down sharpish...:: Blush

thumbwitch · 04/04/2011 15:22

FFFS!!
4th time.
Amber - pleased to see you have sat down and are behaving! What are/were you unpacking?
Indian - Mr T made curry tonight, from leftover mince thing that he had added too much oyster sauce to and that I coudln't face - so he fed it to himself and his mum instead.

We now have an Indian takeaway here as well! They are much rarer here than in the UK.

amberlight · 04/04/2011 16:26

Well, I was unpacking the cases from the wild weekend away in Worcestershire, but now dh has taken over Smile

CMOTdibbler · 04/04/2011 16:31

And I bet you drove past me (or certainly dpony) too...

amberlight · 04/04/2011 16:33

I may have done Blush. I lose track of who lives where... Blush

CMOTdibbler · 04/04/2011 16:43

Pony lives right at j7 of the M5 (his field is separated from the motorway by the hedge)

purpleknittingmum · 04/04/2011 16:47

Afternoon all! Hope all is well with everyone!

Ooo I am a bit shattered! Got carpet fitted today in the lounge, finally after moving in 6 months ago! They messed up when they measured up and there wasn't enough for the hall so they are coming back in a couple of days do do that

MaryBS · 04/04/2011 17:07
amberlight · 04/04/2011 17:55

He's a very well trained horse, y'know.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/04/2011 18:17

Well trained and versatile, it seems. Rather like our own dear Mellors.

amberlight · 04/04/2011 18:45

Hardly any resemblance, thankfully Grin

At least doc is happyish with hurty arm as long as I rest it when it hurts. Good. Glass of Wine anyone?

Jacksmania · 04/04/2011 18:56

Is there anything comforting going? I need some...

Feeling a bit down because JB is still having issues settling in at the lovely, lovely nursery where he goes on Monday. The woman who runs it is a friend of a friend and she is a prize... loving, kind and understanding. We had a good chat this morning about JB, and I know he's in the best of hands... I just wish he'd feel better/ safer/ whatever, without either me or DH or G-ma around. Yvonne says he's always a bit anxious and uncertain when she's not around and he's not really good at figuring out how to play by himself, she always has to direct him and bit. And this morning it was tears and drama as soon as he realized it was Monday and he had to go to nursery. Fortunately she sent a text saying he was doing great and it was all good about an hour after I'd dropped him off... sigh. Sorry, I know this isn't a really coherent post.

UniS · 04/04/2011 19:06

sympathy JM. He will get the hang of it eventually. Hes safe and cared for in a nice environment and you can get on with your monday.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/04/2011 19:26

Sympathy here too. It may be a slow haul, because he's only going once a week, but that's a good thing as it gives you plenty of opportunity to talk or role-play (or whatever) about it during the week. Could you give him a little treat on a Monday afternoon - going to a bakery to buy a cookie, say - so that Monday has some positive associations too?

I'm just enjoying a glass of rose Wine. Wanna share?
