Tea Room The 24th - San Francisco Painted Lady!

Welcome to the 24th incarnation of the One-Child Tea Room. Not that you only have to have one! Just so long as you enjoy chat, tea, coffee, cake!!

The usual rules apply - no bunfighting. If you like that sort of thing, go elsewhere.
Other rules: bring Wine. Or Brew.

Our ongoing voyage take us to one of San Francisco's Painted Ladies!

We've brought the Aga over, it's in the back in the cosy kitchen overlooking the back garden. The chintz sofa is in the front room, under the bow window! All of the pillows and duvets have come along as well!

What's that? The Priest Hole? It's just over there --> behind the bookcase!

Mellors is upstairs, preparing the bedrooms for naps and such. Wink

The aspidistras are thriving as they overlook Nob Hill! The horses have found themselves stabled in the Garden, which is much larger than these places usually are in this city!

So come in and have a seat!

::tea hurries off to Powell Street to catch the Cable Car to Ghirardelli Square::

Oh - and MC's teeth also haven't read the books - as he's got a new molar at the back before any of his baby molars have dropped out Shock

thumbwitch · 01/04/2011 12:24

Dive in folks, it's consolation cake.

Thankfully tis not mothers' day here until June. That would have been a bit much to cope with, I think. Mr T is variable with it - the first one was a bust, the second one he got a fabulous card, last year I had 2 mothers' days because he had 2 fathers' days the year before (Aussie one is in September) and he did one well but not the other. This year - who knows.Confused

MT - your DH is not good at taking responsibility for his own mess then, hmm? That's very annoying.

I think all of miniT's front teeth came in before the molars but I'm not sure - actually, perhaps not - he had the front 8 (4 up, 4 down) but perhaps not the canines and premolars before the molars started irritating. Can't remember - didn't make notes Blush

TS has four tops and three bottoms. He had been working on "matching teeth coming together/within two days of each other" but so far he has a lone new tooth on the bottom (discovered last weekend) and what feels like a new back tooth on the top. He won't let me in to have a good look or feel but when he lets me in for gum-gel it feels distinctly like new, sharp tooth. THAT could explain the struggles with teething this time when the fronts have been a snap.

My first Mother's Day I had two the UK one and I happened to be at home for the US one, so my best friend made sure to send me a package "from TS" (to my parents' house) since she is his Godmother. It's hard finding cards here to send home since Mom is MOM not MUM and Mother is just too formal and not us. My MiL gives me a small token gift on Mother's Day makes me a bit uncomfortable but think it's because I'm the mother of her grandson and she loves me.

Ohhh, happy birthday to MistleChick.

Went to a group at one of our SS centers. It's a group just for 12-24 month olds, which is nice as it means everything is geared for them and no big kids running them over. All the tots were sitting having snack and TS decided he wanted to play with the kitchen without interruption. Sometime later just about all of the kids gravitated towards playdough but not TS, no, he spent that time walking around the table, looking at the kids and doing a circuit around the room. At least he didn't have a wobbly when it was time to leave like he did last time we went.

Scout I send my mom and step- mom 'mum' cards. They think they are funny!

Have finished my Mother's Day shopping for UK and US and must remember where I've put the US ones in a month...

Really should fold laundry or something as LCT fell sound asleep in his pram after doing his 'I'm not tired don't put the pram back' crank. It ended with 'zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz'! I love that!

Tee -- Hehehehe, I do love when the fight and fight and fight and ZONK the minute you lay them down. Grant it, the fight isn't fun but the end result is fab!

Scout19075 · 01/04/2011 13:37

I need to come up with some Easter/spring-themed activities for Guides as a back-up in case the existing activities don't take long enough and/or the girls that are meant to be running something don't show. What do you think of this?

Tee2072 · 01/04/2011 14:06

Those are adorable Scout!!

Scout19075 · 01/04/2011 14:42

Not too lame if you're 11?

Tee2072 · 01/04/2011 14:55

Don't they think everything is lame though? Grin

You'd think, but my 14/15s loved, Loved, LOVED playing with playdough the other night.

I found this too and think it might be better in terms of less prep/things to buy/return in case we don't get to it.

Tee2072 · 01/04/2011 15:10

Not as cute, but deffo easier!

Thing is I don't actually know what the plan for our meeting is. I can't find the term's schedule and MrsGuider is on the other side of the world (literally). So want a back-up in case the people who are supposed to be taking/running things aren't there or forget. Just don't want to spend loads of money or time prepping.

Poor Bunny is all soggy and sad looking. Managed to get him from TS while he was napping. Hope he doesn't decide to get up and look through the washer/dryer and see Bunny tumbling. There could be tears!

Scout19075 · 01/04/2011 15:53

Is it too early for Wine?

Tee2072 · 01/04/2011 16:41

Never Scout, it's always 5pm somewhere!

Wine

Jacksmania · 01/04/2011 17:42

Is that a good enough reason to have wine for breakfast? :o

Thumb, darling, how are you? :(

Tee2072 · 01/04/2011 17:56

Yes, JM, it is. Grin

It Wine O'clock somewhere. I'm being very good and NOT having pizza tea before going out for Girlie Indian Meal in town later.

Pub quiz ( not the regular one) Last night and we came 3rd!!!! I was rather chuffed. team was me and 2 dads of Boys friends.

I'm getting my "mums choice" day tomorrow, rather than Sunday. as teh weather forecast is better tomorrow and DH has cricket practise mid day sunday. I'm choosing to go for a walk on the moor.

Scout19075 · 01/04/2011 19:11

I am sensitive but my FiL has just referred to us (MrScout, TS & I) has his 2.5 guests. TS is a full person!!! Abiet a small one but he's definitely his own person with his own likes and dislikes. Angry Then again he likes to tell me what I'm doing wrong and/or MrScout is doing wrong regarding TS.

Yay for UniS's pub quiz team! And a walk on the Moor sounds wonderful. Enjoy your Girlie Indian Meal out and your Mummy Day tomorrow. Grin

Oh, JM, no package from Canada yet. I am keeping my eyes out.

Scout19075 · 01/04/2011 20:23

Does someone have any magic sleeping dust I can borrow since mine must be old as it doesn't seem to be working?

CMOTdibbler · 01/04/2011 20:56

I've just used mine up on ds and sleepover guest. Sorry, but they were still bouncing..

Scout19075 · 01/04/2011 21:08

Was nearly 8:30 before TS gave up. He wasn't whingey but I could hear him chattering/playing.

Hope yours settle soon, CMOT!

CMOTdibbler · 01/04/2011 21:15

They are asleep now, after a row about duvet stealing/foot poking.

It must be bolly o'clock now !

Scout19075 · 01/04/2011 21:15
Tee2072 · 01/04/2011 21:51

9 freakin' o'clock here, Scout. I didn't think he was ever going to go to sleep.
