Tea Room The 24th - San Francisco Painted Lady!

Welcome to the 24th incarnation of the One-Child Tea Room. Not that you only have to have one! Just so long as you enjoy chat, tea, coffee, cake!!

The usual rules apply - no bunfighting. If you like that sort of thing, go elsewhere.
Other rules: bring Wine. Or Brew.

Our ongoing voyage take us to one of San Francisco's Painted Ladies!

We've brought the Aga over, it's in the back in the cosy kitchen overlooking the back garden. The chintz sofa is in the front room, under the bow window! All of the pillows and duvets have come along as well!

What's that? The Priest Hole? It's just over there --> behind the bookcase!

Mellors is upstairs, preparing the bedrooms for naps and such. Wink

The aspidistras are thriving as they overlook Nob Hill! The horses have found themselves stabled in the Garden, which is much larger than these places usually are in this city!

So come in and have a seat!

::tea hurries off to Powell Street to catch the Cable Car to Ghirardelli Square::

G'night, Ladies. I'm shattered and can't keep my eyes open any more.

I've never asked for Mellors help before, but do you think he could wrap my SsiL birthday presents for me?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/03/2011 22:30

Yep. An early night would be good as we lose an hour's sleep tonight.

Mellors is wrapping those gifts as we speak, Scout!

Scout19075 · 26/03/2011 22:32

Oh, and can he prepare the overnight milk cups in case they're needed and make sure the medicine spoon is clean and ready for use?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/03/2011 22:34

You name it, Scout, and Mellors will do it. Good night!

Tee2072 · 27/03/2011 08:43

Morning.

Pancakes, toast and coffee/tea on sideboard.

I am amazingly chipper considering a certain small boy had us up at 3 (4 in the 'new money') just because. Hmm

::tee stands on a box and raises hand in the air:: I do swear that when he is a teenager and trying to sleep until noon on a Saturday I shall wake him at 6am, just because. Grin

::Amber continues to dry herself off after her sortie into the tea cup and heads for the new play house::

::removed her bead necklace from being eaten:: Hmm Grin

Scout, sounds like you were a couple of mins drive from me on the Ox/Berks/Bucks borders.

The Right Team won the boat race yesterday Biscuit

Pancakes? Wonderful! :gets onto the sideboard to drink the tea::

There is no possibility of waking sleeping teenagers. Nothing works.

Today, off for a lunch and a walk with dh. Then might re-tackle some of the seed-planting and potato-growing...and watch a nice bit of Time Team.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/03/2011 12:17

The Right Team won the boat race yesterday

Of course you are entitled to think that, Amber. Wink

Anyone for a pre-prandial sherry on the verandah before Mellors serves luncheon?

Scout19075 · 27/03/2011 13:50

Mmm, lunch!

Scout19075 · 27/03/2011 14:12

Amber, as we drive home tomorrow I shall wave in your direction. Grin

Think MiL is determined to spoil TS. In some ways I really don't mind. Maybe some day I will. We were chatting this morning and I found a cute little kitchen oven/hob toy in a catelogue and said "oh, that's really cute and not too big that it would overwhelm our house" (we don't have a big house so for big toys I check out the dimensions and pre-plan) and she said "oh, we'll get it for TS if you'd like, and have it shipped to your house." TS really does like to play with toy kitchens and his pots/pans/bowls/cutlery/tea sets. When I said "oh, maybe for his birthday that would be a very kind gift" she said "that's not until October and that's no fun. He could have it now and play with it outside in the nice weather along with his sand table and easel." Okay, fair enough!

I think TS will soon be the proud owner of a new easel (his Easter gift from PiL) AND a kitchen set (just because).

I am often overwhelmed by their generousity to me and to TS, but I know they do it because they want to (and can) and love us. I also know that MiL likes to get things she knows I'll like and/or thinks TS would like so often asks me what do I think and/or would I like before just doing (which is nice).

Scout19075 · 27/03/2011 14:18

BLIMEY!

Scout19075 · 27/03/2011 14:22

Again, blimey!

Scout19075 · 27/03/2011 15:15
Just because.
amberlight · 27/03/2011 16:27

The prices! Shock

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/03/2011 16:52

The sizes! The prices!

::faints::

Continuing our road trip across the USA ... .

Scout19075 · 27/03/2011 21:35

I know! ACK! I could see them being good for a nursery school/day care environment but who has the room and the money?

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 27/03/2011 21:38

Holidays!!! Angry

Today on what should have been a lovely family day out at Longleat, TMIMM started an argument with me about driving through France. Him: 'We could drive or take the train.' Me: 'Let's take the train. Driving is so stressful.' Him: 'Only because you never listen to anyone and always think about yourself and are totally inconsiderate'. Shock What is this all about??????? This was a peaceful Sunday morning up to 30 seconds ago.

He is actually rather grumpy because my sister won't come and look after AP for two or three weeks in the summer. He doesn't officially know that yet, but is getting suspicious becuase I can only say, 'Don't worry I will get everything sorted out.'

Who would have a family?? Couldn't Wriggle and I just live on our own with lots of pets?

Scout19075 · 27/03/2011 21:45

Family politics have come to a head again -- very glad that MrScout, TS and I live 80 miles away (everyone else lives within half-mile of each other).

Tee2072 · 27/03/2011 21:47

This is why I live in the UK and my family lives in the US. I don't do politics very well.

Also a reason I work for and by myself!!

Oh dear, Serpent. How upsetting, especially for being so unforeseen and for blighting a lovely outing. You are right, driving through France is stressful, especially if you're alone in the front of the car with only the sat nav for company. Why won't or can't Sister come to look after AP? Could AP go to stay with her, or is that unthinkable? Then again, MonsieurSnake shouldn't, perhaps, take it for granted that Sister or anyone else will be able and willing to devote a large chunk of the summer holiday to caring for AP. How much do you want to go to France?

Would you like to join Scout and me on our virtual road trip? I've always wanted to drive along .

Scout19075 · 27/03/2011 21:51

Unfortunately these are my inlaws politics and my inlaws are English.

I am torn between very Angry and very [bury head in sand] about it.

"The right team won the boat race yesterday"

Well..... anyone can be mistaken! Wink

Had a very relaxing weekend - which included a lovely meal out, and seeing a film at the cinema, and well as an uninterrupted lie in.....

DS was at Cub camp for the weekend. His first time. He enjoyed it too....:)

Here is some nice soothing Hot Chocolate with Brandy for those with family politics problems (or indeed any other problems).

Mellors is at the ready with the massage oils!

Please form an orderly queue - no pushing at the back there!
