Tea Room the 23rd - The Canadian Rockies

Welcome to the 23rd incarnation of the One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading - although its inmates inhabitants mostly have just one child, we also have mums of many (but no dads yet... hmmm...). Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply - no bunfighting. If you like that sort of thing, go elsewhere.
Other rules: bring Wine. Or [tea]. :o

We find ourselves in a lovely spacious log cabin in the Canadian Rockies. Enormous west-facing windows show a gorgeous view of the sunset over the mountains, and there are log and/or gas fireplaces in every room, even the priest hole (which is a Hiding Spot of Requirement for Those In Need) and the bathrooms. In the open-concept living room, we find the Aga gently simmering against the wall, the bar fully stocked, and the cappuccino bar prepared to dispense any hot beverage of your choice.

Fluffy duvets and colourful pillows abound on the deep, squashy couches and armchairs. Outside, we see a vista of deep snow, dotted here and there with deer and bunny tracks. The walking trails and access roads have been ploughed clear of snow by our able (and hunky) handyman, Mellors, who is also available for massages and facial treatments in the Log Cabin Spa.
There is a hot tub outside on the west-facing deck, with a mini-bar conveniently nearby.

There are no aspidistras in this log cabin, as the cold of the Rockies causes them to shrivel and die. However, the Naked Mohawk Babies have come along and are swarming along the rafters, and in the adjacent stable, the Tea Room horses, Earl and Lady Grey are available for snowy rides. The bison are frolicking in their snowy paddock, and I have no idea if the bishops followed the trail of breadcrumbs or not.

(For newcomers, the last paragraphs obv. makes no sense - just go with, all will be explained.)

Jacksmania · 24/02/2011 19:49

Hi all, I know I've missed loads, RL been busy.

I've invited a friend, ChippinIn, to come visit us in the TR. Don't know how many sprogs she has but have assured her that a) we have Wine and b) we don't discriminate against those with more than one :o

How is everyone?

Can I just hide in here please? Another one of my friends who I was pregnant with has announced her second pregnancy. Gutted. Being stupid, going to eat loads of chocolate.

oxeye · 24/02/2011 21:09

I offer up chocolate
can't hope to catch up
we had no conversations but oxbloke does go off limpopoing butis tres hands on when home
we both face up ewuivalent of football when oxboy/ marriage served cos we prefer to be together than apart no big discussion
however I am spending weeks holiday with thoroughly unreconstructed Bloke and am beginning to really see what you are on about

Scout19075 · 24/02/2011 21:40

Argh, camp budgets!

Non-MN hug to PI.

badcrumble · 24/02/2011 21:55

Hello you wonderful, sane lot! So nice to find you all. Feel like a bit of an odd one out at school with all the 3 and 4 children Mums sometimes! I have a little chap who's nearly 6 and we're really happy with just the three of us. So nice to find others going through the same things. Well, am going to go and get in the hot tub now - hopefully be back another day! Grin

Jacksmania · 24/02/2011 22:27

badcrumble, you can't possibly have read the entire thread (or the last 22, for that matter), otherwise you'd know that while we are undoubtedly wonderful, we are nowhere near sane :o

Having said that, welcome, and budge up in that hot tub. It's bloody freezing here and all of me is covered in goosebumps. When I say all of me, I mean all of me... we are having unseasonably cold weather here on the Magnolia Coast and everyone is complaining bitterly. If this stupid weather kills my crocuses, Ia m going to be Angry.

Wine?

was a nice warm spring like day down here. snow drops are out, no daffs yet here on t'moor but they are out in teh city 20 miles away.

Can I have some of that there chocolate, my planning application is being a pain again. Challenging is the way I described the project to the techy builder chap today. We have to work out HOW to get concrete to the site which is at least 100m from a road and has access too narrow to get a concrete truck through.

Hi Crumble. is the hot tub working well ?? Can't tell as my glasses have steamed up.

Tee2072 · 25/02/2011 13:08

Howdy. Lovely day in Belfast.

Hi Crumble!

Anyone for a ham and cheese sandwich?

UniS · 25/02/2011 14:26

yes please- toasted if I may. Now wait, I'll do it myself on this handy toasting fork in front of the roaring fire.

Dismal day here today. Going swimming later.

Must say the aspidistra I took home from here to look after is doing rather well, should be very healthy by the time we move again.

UniS · 25/02/2011 14:26

Aspidistra is looking better than my bonsai sprouts.

amberlight · 25/02/2011 16:59

Am I too late for the sandwich?
Hi Crumble!

Tee2072 · 25/02/2011 19:35

Never too late for a sandwich!

Where is everyone today?!?!

Scout19075 · 25/02/2011 19:36

Shattered. Sitting like a zombie, practically comatose. Rough day with poorly BabyScout.

How's LCT?

Tee2072 · 25/02/2011 19:43

Just puked up his dinner, thanks for asking. Too much catarrh I think, other than an infection. Although maybe we should have gone to GP today. And I won't take him to OOH because they are horrid, so I guess we'll see how he is on Monday.

Scout19075 · 25/02/2011 19:47

Nice. We have that problem, too. Only he's not been puking up dinner, just coughing up phlem all night. Blurgh.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 25/02/2011 19:49

Today at large tourist attraction we visited there was a fridge magnet in the shop: 'How many roads must a man walk down ... before he'll admit he's lost?' I had much opportunity to ponder this on the way home this evening. I have a satnav in my car - he didn't want me to use it!!!! However, we are finally home; any wine about?

Tee2072 · 25/02/2011 19:50

Sorry to hear you're going through it as well, Scout. Ill babies are the worst!

::pours Serp a large glass of Wine::

Scout19075 · 25/02/2011 19:51

Wine for Serpent.

Scout19075 · 25/02/2011 19:57

MrScout still not home but I've eaten already. Fancy a pizza, though.

I might go to bed soon.

Donki · 25/02/2011 20:27

Tea anyone?
More wine?
Especially for those with ill babies.... sympathy and fortifying thoughts for you.

We will be very busy chez Donki for the weekend - we have 4 visitors to stay...

CMOTdibbler · 25/02/2011 20:31

DS staying at friends again tonight (they have been trying to persuade us that they neeeed to stayover with each other all week). Weather is vile, so dh and I decided not to walk to the pub which was the original plan.

How about a Friday night chocolate fondue ?

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 25/02/2011 20:38

Mmmmmm, what a good idea.

UniS · 25/02/2011 21:03

::UniS rustles up some strawberries and pineapple chunks to put on fondue forks. And some squares of choc fudge brownie::
One can not have tooo much chocolate in life.

Urgh for poorly babes.

Whos in the priest hole these days? If you get bothered by a bishop down there just nag him about finding us a vicar and send him back to work would you. No one has applied for teh post of team rector for teh group of parishes I live in. Can't help wondering if teh job ad was worded to put people off, challenging post,XX churches, large rural area, scattered communities etc. NOwt about teh attractions of living and working in a national park with good schools.

And if there is any one from the water board hiding down there, chuck them up here so I can give them a kicking. Blooming riles about not building anything with in 3 meters of a sewer.... grrr.

CMOTdibbler · 25/02/2011 21:12

:: puts out fondue pots, one with dark choc, one with white::

I thought of you today Unis - as I drove through town, there were two teens unicycling along Smile
