Tea Room the Eighteenth - the Cricket Pavilion

Welcome one and all to our new abode - a lovely old-fashioned Cricket Pavilion, with decks outdoors and a rather lovely Members' Bar, complete with deep-seated leather comfy chairs and any drink you care to mention.

Our outdoor amenities include the well-tended cricket pitch, kept immaculate by Mellors, our multi-purpose man; a couple of tennis courts round the back for those who prefer the Wimbledon scene; and another multi-purpose pitch (can be used for hosting Fine Lad-style rugby matches, or Little Kickers' football, or the occasional All Comers' Lacrosse Tournament.

Bishops abound, mostly snoozing in the leather armchairs; there are sundry animals around - guineapigs and bison mostly - and of course the Naked Mohawk Babies, fetchingly attired in cricket whites (most unusual for them!)

The cricket pavilion tea room is open to all - those with only one child who need a safe haven predominate but having more than one child is fine - come in, have an egg'n'cress sandwich and a glass of Pimms!

*other fillings and beverages also available.

Just popped in to report that I found this and thought of Serpent, Tea and all of you too.

Scout19075 · 20/10/2010 08:51

I would like to say how proud I am of my Young Leader girlies. They rose to the challenge last night and, unknowingly, ran the whole night! Two of them knew they were planning/running two activities (one each) to last about 10-15 minutes each. The one lasted 5 and the other they got about 30 minutes out of. It was really good. Then all of them (there are four total) spent the rest of the night running games. They're only 14 and (young) 15.

[Proud Leader emoticon]

teafortwo · 20/10/2010 11:52

Well done young leaders!

I am getting better each day and tomorrow will be re-entering the World of work. I have been off for a week but it feels like seven years! It will be really odd walking back through work(s doors.

Today I ordered this -

www.highlandangel.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/HighlandAngel/_19021/352237/Ottilie%20Bangle

for my neice's first birthday and love my purchase so much I am telling as many people as I can all about it! Grin

Scout19075 · 20/10/2010 13:39

Did you know that Mommy's gloves are the most facinating thing EVER? They can fly and flap and shake like nobody's business. Surprisingly they weren't eaten, just shaken and waved and tossed around.

LOL

Right, onto hellos, etc., as I am VERY BEHIND (though lurking/reading)!

Donki -- Good to see you back! Hope all is well.

JBMM -- Hope your knee is on the mend and that you're being spoiled with cholocates.

amber -- Continued thoughts and prayers for you and MrAmber.

Mary -- I'll keep passing your bacon sarnies until you tell me to stop.

Small -- Nice to have you back. All set for the finale tonight?

Waves hello at everyone else!

I have a cling-on baby today. He just seems slightly off-color but can't pinpoint what/why. He was last night as well, and very leary at Guides which is most unusual for BabyScout. He loves Guides and the girlies and is normally fearless.

I could really go for some biscuits.....

Scout19075 · 20/10/2010 13:40

Oh, and tea, very sweet present!

Scout19075 · 20/10/2010 17:50

Felt sad and strangely teary as I waved my Seniors off on their coach to the cathedral near Mary. Sad

Scout19075 · 20/10/2010 19:23

Feeling very lonely (not here, but in real life) -- can I entice anyone over with biscuits and cakes and hot chocolate?

amberlight · 20/10/2010 19:30

Oh go on then - I quite fancy a biscuit/cake/hot choc/bath of Bolly.

I'm supposed to be out at a meeting but haven't got the oomph.
Feeling sad and teary and lonely isn't good - have a tea room duvet and a shoulder rub from Mellors.

UniS · 20/10/2010 19:45

one bath of hot choc coming up with a bolly biscuit on teh side..

I'm puttering about youtube watching shrewsbury folk festival bits. Then off to cook a storm in teh kitchen.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 20/10/2010 20:48

What a lovely present, Tea. Wish we had seen it before buying Christening present for our niece. We are off for a week in the South of France over half term to attend said Christening. Feeling exhausted at the thought. Please tell me how wonderful it will be.

UniS · 20/10/2010 22:09

One GF choc cake one the table for Mary and CMOT and every one else to enjoy. It smells fab in real life and has sooo little flour that I don;t think using GF flour will have made any difference to its normal fantastic taste. Tis my entry in the GF cake class at our village show on Saturday so in RL I have to NOT eat it till then.

Also on the hob is pumpkin soup and in the oven roasting pumpkin seeds. ...

storm is well and truly cooking up.

Evening all. Thought of you tonight Scout as I was up to the elbows in said pumpkin- and we had maple syrup at tea time .

oxeye · 20/10/2010 23:17

Racing, the christening will be good. Is Aged P coping alone or coming too?
Amber help rifling throughoney box and private stuff would freak me too. Dont want to see bishops in swmwaer
hope all operations are going well and colds receding
scout sorry you are feeling lonely you always sound so upbeat. Can we hflp?
I think first birthdays are really about the mum/ parents and reflecting on the enormity of the pass twelve months mre than the babys day
hugs to all

Scout19075 · 21/10/2010 07:12

How was the cooking, UniS? What did you make?

oxeye, I agree about baby's first birthdays. I know that's exactly why we're havng BabyScout's "1st Birthday Tea" next weekend with the ILs and some extended family. I figure my only baby will only be one once, so I want to celebrate the fact that he's here, and one, and that we didn't all kill each other. Grin

Speaking of which, one week until BabyScout's birthday! Shock How did that happen?!?!

Am fine now. Not sure what came over me last nght. Very odd since I was, at the time, chatting online with an old school friend who now lives in Canada AND my mom AND emailing back-and-forth with my best friend who lives in Florida. No shortage of company.... I did realize this morning, though, that I haven't been to any baby groups except for swimming (never miss swimming unless we're away or BabyScout is utterly poorly) so am wondering if that contibuted to my mood. Shouldn't think so cuz we went swimming, and to Guides AND I saw my Guides/Seniors/Leaders at the coach pick up for Vision last night.

Going to have an errand morning, I think, so being out and about will help. And this afternoon BabyScout and I are going to a Rainbows meeting to lead campfire singing and an autumnal themed craft.

Who turned on winter?!

CMOTdibbler · 21/10/2010 08:07

I know - its so cold all of a sudden isn't it ? But I'm off to San Diego next Wednesday, so am looking forward to the sun -and I know that where we are staying is a nice walk to the convention centre and by the water - lush

Am v impressed by there being a gf cake section in the competition UniS.

Has MrOxeye gorn yet ? If so, are you eating properly . I do worry about you Oxeye

Bacon butties anyone ?

amberlight · 21/10/2010 08:44

Yes please for a bacon buttie!

MrAmber is feeling much better but is now in the Being Silly By Overdoing It phase that inevitably leads to Big Problems Later, so I'm having to watch him closely.

MaryBS · 21/10/2010 08:57

Thanks for the cake, UniS, am back on gluten containing products, as test came back negative! Argh! So I have an appt in 4 weeks at a clinic so they can investigate more.

Since I've been eating gluten again, I've not had any REALLY bad reactions, although my stomach is starting to feel sorer and sorer, so it may be the rest gave it a chance to heal.

But I NEED answers, can't bear things not being solved!

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 21/10/2010 14:15

Scout or JM - is broiling grilling?

And yes yes yes to Wilton House.

Scout19075 · 21/10/2010 15:23

Serpent -- Yes, grilling in the oven (as opposed to on the BBQ). All of my ovens at home have had a separate little slot in the oven to do this, usually at the bottom.

teafortwo · 21/10/2010 15:25

unserpent - I know what you mean. I am feeling much the same about life lately. Oh, but, hey do listen - it really will be very lovely. Celebrating a new addition to the family always is in the end.

What will you all wear and what did you choose for a present and what will the party be like afterwards???

We seem to be heading Blighty way for Christmas... would anyone be up for a Christmas tearoom cha cha cha!?!

Scout19075 · 21/10/2010 15:49

Oh, tea, when are you coming and are you coming back my direction?

CMOTdibbler · 21/10/2010 16:13

Oh yes ! Ds finishes school on the 15th, so can meet anywhere from then onwards

amberlight · 21/10/2010 16:52

Possibly may be able to do a tea room meetup. Depends where and how and whether an Amber can cope with it.

MaryBS · 21/10/2010 19:37

Came out of the priest's hole long enough to have a car crash. Am going back in there again. Thank God, few injuries - my mum broke a bone in her hand, and that was all. I'm fine. Kids fine. Car a write off :(
