I am a Foster Mum to two adorable little girls.
Any other Foster Parents out there?
I am married with two grown up kids, five grand children, (one who lives with us)and alls the joys, trials and tribulations life brings.
I have a cat ๐Ÿฑand two bearded dragons ๐Ÿ‰ ๐Ÿ‰
I am interested in what's going on and having family fun when I'm not doing all the mundane stuff.

Hi everyone
I am mum of three teenagers and want to say hello Wink

sandrinezambaux · 11/11/2016 16:55

Hello to all the happy mums! Sadly I'm not a mum myself but having been in education for years I do consider myself as a part-time mum sometimes. Working with children is like playing for me. In fact children sometimes think that I am a child.
Bye for now!

user1478489910 · 11/11/2016 20:47

Hello Sandrine,

It sounds like you are doing an amazing job! ๐Ÿ‘

Hi everyone! I decided to come and check out this forum after I heard about it in the news this past week, all of the helpful advice women on here gave helped another woman Smile I've just had a quick look through the site and it looks great. Glad I read that news article this week!

joan77joan · 14/11/2016 21:32

I'm a newbie, have heard lots of about it.
I have 14 year old twins (boy & girl).
Have done quite well up to now, but struggling to support my daughter as she goes through the teenage years. My son is doing ok apart from he's that laid back he'll fall over soon.
Am married but sometimes he has no idea.

HappyPeaPod · 16/11/2016 09:26

Hello everyone. I've just joined today. I'm in the early stages of pregnancy and have joined Mumsnet to make it feel more real! I'm looking forward to being part of the Mum community - both online and in the real world. I live in Edinburgh.

Not a mum, but a dad! Rejoined having lost username and password. Older, but no wiser.

Redcarfiesta2000 · 28/11/2016 04:57

Hello I have very recently become a foster carer to my 14 year old grandson. He is settling in well after the last 2 years of life living away from the maternal side of his family. I am anxious about the influence the internet has on him. It is early days but I want to start off with giving him good boundaries. Does any one have any advice on how to impose limitations on him after the last 2 years he has been free to do as he chooses?
There were no out side influences such as the internet when I was bringing up my own children. Thank you.

Lostpangolin · 28/11/2016 08:19

Hi redcar, unless you're quite techy, get someone to set up your broadband to limit sites that can be accessed. Also times when no devices may be used, mealtime, homework time etc. Well done for taking the steps to improve a young man's life. Encourage him to talk, be as openminded as you can, and use to vent or seek support or advice. Sorry, meant to start with welcome!

user1480352821 · 28/11/2016 17:10

user1480456766 · 29/11/2016 22:52

Hi there.

Just a brief e mail to say hello to you all.

Lostpangolin · 30/11/2016 07:55

Morning jarek and user 1480----, I'm older with a grown up daughter, also a dad not a mum. Jump in with both feet!

Redcarfiesta2000 · 05/12/2016 06:40

I saw your post and thought I would say hello - I am also new to the site and new to fostering. We recently became foster carers for my 14 year old grandson. He is a good boy and the problems that caused him to be this present predicament were not down to him. As with most abused children they want to stay with their abuser so although he is a good boy he is not making life easy for himself or us! Our main concern is he is refusing to go to school. The LA is on board but we wish there was more that could be done. So well done you for your roll as a foster carer and doing your bit.
