After yesterday’s horrific attack in Southport, the usual Islamophobia and racism has jumped up as per usual. Whilst there is no indication the suspect was Muslim and the police have confirmed it’s not terror related, the speculation and accusations on social media were rife, with many still claiming it’s why Islam should be banned in the UK and we should all be sent back.

And that is tough, because the sadness over what happened is magnified by fears for our safety and our future. So just thinking of you all and wanted to say hope you’re ok.

The people of Southport have been amazing. The community spirit has really shone through in the last couple of days.

Thank you to everyone who has come on here and supported us - it means a lot and I'm also sorry for those who are suffering even though you are not Muslim.

People were very quick to judge, spread misinformation about the killings in Southport. It turns out the killer is Rwandan, born to Christian parents.

Just goes to show how much Muslims are blamed for everything, and I am sure that it would have been labeled as a terror attack had he been a Muslim. They will probably say something along the lines of mental health being the issue

Another non-muslim but want to show my support. I can't imagine how frightened your community must feel right now and I am so sorry for that. These thugs are criminals and they don't represent us.

I saw some images of a brown taxi driver being held back by racist yobs in Hartlepool and letting other cars go. Just vile. Despite everything Tommy, Nigel and their news channel are allowed to continue spreading hatred.

I’m Jewish not Muslim, but wanted to stand beside you at this truly horrible time. My heart breaks for what you are going through. I can empathise with feeling hated and unwanted in your own country. This is not ok. Sending strength and support.

Also worth noting the EDL have a long list of Anti-Islam “marches” over the weekend virtually everywhere and most coincide with pro Palestinian protests so do be careful.

It's terrible for people to hate Jewish people too. We stand together against hatred. Please know that we are thinking of you too.
