Islamophobic attack by man on Muslim women

You just know he wouldn’t have done that to a man either. A racist Islamophobe as well as a sexist POS.

And seeing all the comments on the DM justifying it just makes it all that more painful.

Racist thug brands women wearing Islamic headscarves 'f***ing c***s'

Mobile phone footage shows the man follow the women down South Street in Romford and abusing them with a string of vile racist and Islamophobic slurs.

I know this is Muslim Mumsnet (I'm not Muslim) but I was looking for a thread about this as I read about it in the paper this morning.

There is no justification for this. It is absolutely horrible to watch. The aggression was really frightening to see. There is no excuse at all.

Same here. I am not Muslim either, but I would have happily laid into this absolute dick and dished out a few home truths to him. I am furious and disgusted that this happened. Apologies for butting into to your Mumsnet space but when I saw the thread title on active threads I couldn’t help it 🌷

SuperLois34 · 21/04/2024 22:21

and can't see how anyone could try to justify it in anyway, nor to try and use it to make some other type of terminology point

This. The 'but' comments just baffle me. At the end of the day, he could have been shouting and ranting about the colour of the woman's nail varnish - he's still clearly a violent, aggressive, abusive thug who needs taking off the streets.

You're very welcome here - no butting in at all! Come for the scumbag-criticising, stick around for the recipes and sales shopping chat!

WinterMorn · 21/04/2024 22:32

@Scirocco thank you very much, I will take you up on that 🙂 especially if there is talking about books, handbags or shoes! On a serious note though, I hate that this event happened and I promise you and everyone else on here that I will never be a bystander.

Bloom15 · 21/04/2024 22:34

Thanks @Scirocco - I would have confronted him, easy for me as I am white and non-Muslim

Scirocco · 21/04/2024 22:43

Thank you, everyone who has offered support.

What I would say is, don't put yourself at risk of harm - a misogynist with anger issues could easily turn on anyone challenging him. If you can, help women get to safety, check they're ok, and help them with reporting to the police if possible. Any evidence like camera footage or eyewitness accounts can also help bring scumbags to justice.

anotherlevel · 21/04/2024 23:21

Yes thank you all who are not Muslim but are supportive x

Yazzi - I'm not Muslim. I just thought I should clarify. I'd not noticed the name of the thread group, just the title, having seen the clip online just before. As a non-Muslim person I find the video and the behaviour horrid and can't see how anyone could try to justify it in anyway, nor to try and use it to make some other type of terminology point.

Sorry Logma, I definitely didn't mean you- I quoted you as you had the original comment in your post.

Personally I don't have an issue in Mumsnet of people not part of the representative group observing and participating in chats so long as it doesn't stifle room for the representative group.

BranstonPickleandPeanutButter · 22/04/2024 02:46

That's awful. Horrible man.(non Muslim, agnostic) But it shouldn't happen.

Spywoman · 22/04/2024 03:03

What a nasty bully. I bet he wouldn't have been so openly hostile to a group of younger men. Like all bullies, he picked on those he thought he could push around.

This is the kind of thing that definitely should be reported. I'm sure it caused a lot of distress and to be honest he was so aggressive that I would have been quite scared of him and I'm not generally a cowering type.
