Islamophobic attack by man on Muslim women

You just know he wouldn’t have done that to a man either. A racist Islamophobe as well as a sexist POS.

And seeing all the comments on the DM justifying it just makes it all that more painful.

Racist thug brands women wearing Islamic headscarves 'f***ing c***s'

Mobile phone footage shows the man follow the women down South Street in Romford and abusing them with a string of vile racist and Islamophobic slurs.

Racist, sexist and Islamophobic. Truly a prince among men. How sad his life must be, that he needs to do that to feel like a big man.

Charlie2121 · 21/04/2024 12:44

How can you determine he’s Islamophobic?

How can you determine he’s Islamophobic?

He can be heard calling them 'Muslim c*' and telling them to 'f** off out of England'.

He says: 'You Muslim fing c. You're c. Muslim c. You f Muslim s*. Go away you f**ing idiots.'

Theimpossiblegirl · 21/04/2024 12:51

Are you suggesting it's reasonable for a man to verbally abuse and intimidate women based on their faith?

If I encounter something or someone of which I have a rational and justified fear, I don't start swearing at it or them.

Longma · 21/04/2024 13:00

That doesn’t mean he’s Islamophobic. He may have a rational and justified fear of Islam.

There is no justification for shouting such phrases to a group of women who are going about their own business.

Where on earth did I suggest that?

Who said there was? I didn’t.

So terrified of Islam that he's happy to abuse Muslim women in the street.

And this, ladies, is exactly why we needed a Muslim space on Mumsnet.

I know this is Muslim Mumsnet (I'm not Muslim) but I was looking for a thread about this as I read about it in the paper this morning.

There is no justification for this. It is absolutely horrible to watch. The aggression was really frightening to see. There is no excuse at all.

Homecountieshome · 21/04/2024 13:12

I’m just here to read more from the wonderful @Charlie2121 whilst my heart explodes with rage at this video.

What is your issue? I haven’t claimed there is anything whatsoever appropriate about this man’s actions far from it in fact. I simply pointed out a fairly significant misuse of language which you appear to adopt as well.

Hermittrismegistus · 21/04/2024 13:20

Why connection do you have with Islam, Charlie2121?

Hermittrismegistus · 21/04/2024 13:22

Sorry what* connection

The term 'Islamophobia' is widely used and recognised as meaning a hatred, prejudice or bigotry of Islam and Muslims. While many people, myself included, dislike the term for various reasons, it is the general term used for that and it has been used in that way since around 1918, as a translation of a French term describing a hatred of Muslims.

Perhaps if you'd like to discuss the origins of terminology used for defining hate crimes and prejudice, it might be better to start a new thread to discuss that separately from the report of women experiencing verbal abuse and intimidation in the street.

anotherlevel · 21/04/2024 15:48

Absolutely awful and disgusting. Does he really think it makes him look better than them.

Starbugg · 21/04/2024 21:27

From those who aren’t Muslim, thank you for your support.

@Charlie2121as always, a non Muslim person telling Muslims we don't know what Islamophobia is. Aren't you embarrassed @Charlie2121? You should be.

Bloom15 · 21/04/2024 21:47

What an absolute piece of shit - I'm agnostic so apologies for hijacking your thread but this annoys me so much

DuesToTheDirt · 21/04/2024 21:54

I'm no fan of hate crime laws (see all the furore about the Scottish one) but for me this would absolutely qualify as a hate crime.

No apologies needed, and you're quite right in your assessment of him.

Longma · 21/04/2024 22:17

Yazzi - I'm not Muslim. I just thought I should clarify. I'd not noticed the name of the thread group, just the title, having seen the clip online just before. As a non-Muslim person I find the video and the behaviour horrid and can't see how anyone could try to justify it in anyway, nor to try and use it to make some other type of terminology point.

SuperLois34 · 21/04/2024 22:18

This is such a nonsense, reaching, illogical statement I don't even know where to begin.

It must have been terrifying for the woman, especially the way he kept lunging towards her. At least there's a nice clear shot of his face. Someone will be bound to report who he is.
