I'll celebrate along with you! I have yet to receive mine as I only ordered it yesterday but am totally excited! Have been boring everyone in RL....

AnathemaDevice · 29/05/2010 15:32

Ooh, how exciting! I don't know if ours have arrived yet, they're being delivered to my mums.
This will be my 6th Glasto, but my first with a child in tow. I'm getting nervous now- am I mad to take a toddler?
Have you decided who you're going to see yet? I'm putting together a Spotify playlist of bands who are playing so I can decide who to see before I go. Frank Turner is a must, but apart from that there's no-one I'm massively excited about seeing. Well, except Rolf Harris!

poshsinglemum · 29/05/2010 21:48

Hi all. I'm going too and I'm very excited! I'm a bit dissapointed with the line up tbh. especially since U2 dropped out but should still be great fun!

CaptainWinky · 30/05/2010 01:30

I'm despairing actually- there is loads I want to see but lots on different stages so I am bound to miss something and my boyfriend is bound to veto something in favour of something crap

Frank Turner is a yes, Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling, The National, Teddy Thompson, Devendra Banhart, Midlake, Vamire Weekend, Peggy Sue, Beach House, Broken Bells, Richard Thompson, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Ray Davies, Loudon Wainwright III, Thea Gilmour. Oh and loads more. Am not too bothered about U2 dropping out but also not really bothered about Gorillaz so will probably watch The Flaming Lips or The XX.

Am trying not to plan to much as I don't want to be disappointed and its hard to know without proper timings anyway.

But I have VIP ticket so that should make things a bit better as I can nip through the hospitality area to get from stage to stage.

omnishambles · 31/05/2010 18:10

ooh get you captainwinky - are you staying in a pod pad?

The only people I really want to see are George Clinton et al...apart from that am ok - well maybe seth lakeman as well.

We tend to spend most of our time in shangri-la etc...

Envy
CaptainWinky · 31/05/2010 20:40

Yes to Seth Lakeman too! Think boyfriend wants to see Delphic also so may have to do some negotiating.

No not staying in Podpad, we are taking motorhome. I am a total glasto virgin so if anyone has any advice on what to take based on motorhome and corporate hospitality I would love it. It's really difficult to find out exactly what's available in the VIP area and boyfriend is being very nonchalant but i don't want to arrive and have not got something vital.

omnishambles · 31/05/2010 20:46

If you've got a motorhome you'll be fine - you wont need much else - well apart from clothes - if I could drive onsite I would take my entire dressing up box with me.

Am going to content myself with 40s siren for Saturday night.

He's playing twice though isnt he?

DuelingFanjo · 31/05/2010 20:58

my sister's arrived today (at my address) - am so jealous. Mine have just been dispatched so am expecting delivery some time in the next 10 days.

CaptainWinky · 01/06/2010 15:47

Omni- you have a dressing up box? Tell me more!

I am SOOOOOOOOO excited I can't tell you.

omnishambles · 01/06/2010 16:28

um no - thats overstating it somewhat. Its more of a few vintage dresses and a WW2 uniform.

Am learning how to do 40s Victory rolls - as yet am shite - even with online tutorials.

I'm debating as to whether I should take my fairy costume this year. At 28, am I too old to dress as a fairy?

omnishambles · 02/06/2010 08:09

erm yes...

OP posts:
CaptainWinky · 02/06/2010 16:30

Oh no, fairy wings out for me! I think I am going to go with a couple of floral dresses, some shorts and tops, some leggings to go under either if cold, a cardigan, wellies and flipflops in case it is totally dry? then i have a lightweight cagoule i can pop in my bag.

Does this sound reasonable attire?

steamedtreaclesponge · 02/06/2010 16:32

Ooh, I'm going too!

Am determined to take some fancy dress items with me as I always forget that people look bonkers at festivals, and end up feeling boring

CaptainWinky · 02/06/2010 16:38

I did wear little satin horns at a festival in 1997 but that is as bonkers as I get, I'm afraid!

Actually more worried now about what to eat as boyfriend is now on a gluten free diet so thinking it might be a lot of cooking for ourselves in the motorhome, instead of lovely food from all the exciting stalls

omnishambles · 02/06/2010 17:07

you'll need a big jumper as well captainwinky for the evenings when it gets cold...

I'm packing my pearly ringmistress outfit too - only the essentials you understand...

1footinfront · 02/06/2010 17:32

Me too!

It was supposed to be mine & partners 5th anniversary- thats where we met. Alas, we are well on the rocks at the mo and I'm going alone!

Ill be seeing Stevie wonder, the pet shop boys, staff benda billili, George Clinton, Femi Kuti, Empire of the sun, turin brakes and probably some dance stuff as well.

rather scared.....let loose on my own.... scareeeeeeee

CaptainWinky · 02/06/2010 17:40

Is a cardigan not enough then?
I could keep a coat in the motorhome, think hospitality camping quite close to centre of site.

CaptainWinky · 02/06/2010 17:42

1foot- I reckon I will be spending lots of time alone as I think boyfriend is going to park himself in hospitality tent with free cider and possibly refuse to move for some of the more, erm, eclectic bands I want to see

omnishambles · 02/06/2010 18:07

nope - you'll need a proper big jumper or a parka - you wont want to go back to the motorhome between sets - you'll be struggling from the Other to West Holts in the crush or vice versa.

Your OH will emerge eventually CW - its pretty dull in the VIP area honest...

OP posts:
CaptainWinky · 03/06/2010 08:34

oh damn now my plan of what to wear is scuppered

I will take a big hoody.

AnathemaDevice · 04/06/2010 15:18

I think I've got all my clothes sorted- a couple of tie dye dresses, shorts (I've not got the legs for them, but sod it, it's Glastonbury, who cares?), 14 hole Dr Martens for trekking through the mud, wellies, Glastonbury 2007 hoodie, and my big rainbow cardigan which comes down to my knees and has got me through many a cold Glasto night. Oh, and a raincoat, just in case. And possibly the fairy dress, I've not decided yet.

As usual I'll buy loads of clothes there, it seems to be the only place I can ever find clothes I like. Probably because the clothes I like are generally patchwork or tie dyed.

CaptainWinky- don't worry about forgetting anything, you'll be able to buy anything you need onsite. Just bring yourself and your ticket, and you'll be fine. As for food, I reckon you should be able to find something suitiable for your boyfriend. A tip for you- the further away you get from the Pyramid/Other stages you get, the better the food is. Cheaper, too.

CaptainWinky · 04/06/2010 15:22

I'll prob take a load of gluten free snacks and some corn pasta etc anyway, as we will be able to cook in the motorhome. We'll be able to do nice breakfasts anyway if we take eggs and bacon etc, fill up before we go out then we can prob survive mainly on snacks till later!

omnishambles · 06/06/2010 17:28

Sounds good CW - can you eat things like thali etc?

Am still a long way off getting everything ready and beginning to flap about leaving the youngest dc - it will be the longest shes been without either dh or I...
