Wow, that was cool - but we didn't get to meet the band, awww....

Weren't allowed to take any photos either, it was very regimented and loads of security. Almost like we couldn't be trusted to control ourselves around B-J

There were about 15 of us there, plus two people in charge of making sure we didn't wander off or do anything inappropriate, and about 100 security guards, cause they were all aready on duty of course.

So they did American Eulogy, King for a Day and 21st century breakdown, and a snatch of Minority. Plus assorted guitar twanging, mike checking etc. Billie-Joe did his wandering round the stage stuff... When he came over to our side of the stage, I gave him a big idiotic grin and a wave, and he did the same back, yay! Tre chucked us his sticks when they were done, and then we were unceremoniously herded out into the night.

It was a bit weird watching them practically all by yourself, with just a modest ripple of applause after each song - a bit like watching your mate's band play down the pub!

shame you didnt get meeting them, but wow!..your own private show almost

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 27/10/2009 19:52

I did end up bringing in a random girl from the queue, that was one weird conversation!

OP posts:
harleyd · 27/10/2009 19:53

oh yeah...your spare ticket...so how did you pick someone??

i mean, did you just do eeny meeny miny mo

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 27/10/2009 20:07

Needed a girl, cause asking a boy would be...odd! "hello, young man half my age, would you like to come on a Special Trip with me?", and thought it was unfair to ask half of a couple (divorce!), so I walked up to a group of girls and explained, and asked for a volunteer. They all ummed and aahed (god, us females are so polite!) until I said I'd have to go and ask a different group, then one of them jumped up and said, Me! She was a good pick actually, enthusiastic but not insane.

Oh, and B-J was wearing a hat like this which was... interesting!

enthusiastic but not insane

i like it

i would have been knockin people over to get my hands on the ticket...polite is so over-rated!

hmm, strange and interesting choice of head gear...

daftpunk · 28/10/2009 09:08

glad you had a good time

zisforzebra · 28/10/2009 20:44

I saw them last night at the LG Arena and they were amazing! They got three lucky lads up on stage and formed an impromtu band. I've never wanted to be 20 years younger and a guitar player more in my life!

Didn't think much of the support act though. Someone dressed as a pink bunny dancing to YMCA got a better crowd reaction than the support too!

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 30/10/2009 09:40

Saw them the second night at LG Arena (always the best ) and of course they were excellent - but they didn't play Jesus of Suburbia! Did American Eulogy instead, which is a decent song and all, but still...

I put a couple of video clips on youtube. And someone uploaded a great vid of the JoS from the 27th so will make do with that.
