The main things I remember them playing was Simon & Garfunkel, which is pretty good stuff by anyone's standards

But there was also stuff like The Wichita Lineman, and Strangers of the Shore, which aren't my usual taste...

AMumInScotland · 20/05/2009 17:50

on the shore, even...

TrinityIsLovingHerLittleRhino · 20/05/2009 17:51

queen
dire straits
paul simon (graceland)

mollyroger · 20/05/2009 17:51

Ha! I actually downloaded Wichita linesman in a fit of nostalia.
I shouldn't admit that, right?

Everybody loves Simon and garfunkel

Elvis, but that's not a sneaking affection, Elvis was The King after all...

and Cliff

PersonalClown · 20/05/2009 17:52

My parents didn't have bad taste then.
I grew up on a lot of Motown courtesy of my mothe(Stevie Wonder still rules!), Queen and other Glam rock from my father!!!

Quite glad I left home by the time my mother got to where she is now....Il Divo and various reality stars

wotsits · 20/05/2009 17:53

Boney M
Air Supply

gibbberish · 20/05/2009 17:53

Oh how embarassing... Barbara Dixon

Heard a song by her the other day and found myself happily singing along!

GentleOtter · 20/05/2009 17:53

Burt Bacharach but in small doses.
Nobody can schmooze like Burt.

GypsyMoth · 20/05/2009 17:55

abba, the carpenters and bloody jim reeves (dad)!!

later on they became ballroom dancers,so there was always waltz, tango, samba, rumba music on....so they could practice in their heads!!!

DoThisDoThat · 20/05/2009 17:56

Do enjoy Abba and the Beach Boys though.

NotSoRampantRabbit · 20/05/2009 17:57

Boney M

Aaaaahhhhhh...those Russians

fucksticks · 20/05/2009 17:58

Chicago. I've still got one of their old tapes that comes out on the odd occasion!

gibbberish · 20/05/2009 17:59

My brother used to listen to Chicago That's how old I am

MarshaBrady · 20/05/2009 18:00

Dolly Parton and Mozart - from Dad

mollyroger · 20/05/2009 18:01

PC - Ha! I know EXACTLY what you mean. My mum used to play Queen and Thin Lizzy when she was baking. Which was tolerably cool for a budding 12-yr-old rocker. Now she plays that blind Italian soft-opera chappie with the name like bertolli, agh, what's he called?

and now I'm behaving like my mum, who has no memory for names

Man, some of you lot are young.

My parents had Beatles records (can't believe they threw them out)

I have a soft spot for Shirley Bassey, we all loved her

DarrellRivers · 20/05/2009 18:02

Neil Diamond (love love Neil Diamond)
Andy Williams
The Beach Boys
{takes me back emotion]

Shoshe · 20/05/2009 18:02

Any and all country, and must admit, its about all I listen to, although more of newer country, like Josh Turner, Tim McGraw and Sugarland.

mollyroger · 20/05/2009 18:03

I downloaded Country Roads - john denver recently
We have certain songs we like to sing raucously en famille on long journeys. That's one of them. The playlist is very eclectic though.....
