What do you really detest?

OP posts:
Saturn74 · 27/12/2008 19:09

Jaaaaaazzzzzzz.

frankbestfriend · 27/12/2008 19:13

Anything which takes another genre and dilutes it for mass consumption

So Katherine Jenkins type 'classical'
Soft Metal- Def Leopard etc
Pop/Indie crossover-The Feeling/The Script etc

Hideous.

UQD you seem to be acquiring a bit of an mn fanclub with your sparkling wit

2AdventSevenfoldShoes · 27/12/2008 19:39

rap

beanieb · 27/12/2008 20:12

Speaking as an EX-Goth, anyone mentioned Goth

random · 27/12/2008 20:20

drum and bass

UnquietDad · 27/12/2008 21:17

I'd rather hear "white boys whining" than "white boys trying (and failing) to sound black...". Innit.

TheVirginGoober · 27/12/2008 21:18

Jazz.

daftpunk · 27/12/2008 21:19

how can anyone not like jazz?

MrsDoylesMole · 27/12/2008 21:24

regaee

Thunderduck · 27/12/2008 21:24

Very easily, DP.

TheVirginGoober · 27/12/2008 21:26

Jazz= bagofshite.

daftpunk · 27/12/2008 21:30

you don't know what your missing...honestly.

Thunderduck · 27/12/2008 21:31

I do. I've been to a few Jazz concerts unfortunately, and I'd rather gnaw my arm off than sit through another.

OP posts:
TheVirginGoober · 27/12/2008 21:32

Yes, I do, that's why I miss it.

solidgoldstuffingballs · 27/12/2008 21:35

Parumpumfum: Oh I love that (nina gordon)!

What I hate the most is people who take any old song and shove a ropey dance drumbeat at it and claim this is a reworking or reimagining. But I would struggle to say whether i hate it more when they do it to a good song or when they do it to some indifferent cheesy piece of crap that I had a vague nostalgic fondness for.

(Oh and I particularly and specifically hate Starsailor or whoever did that song that goes @If I lay here, if I just lay here, would you lay with meeeee'. Partly because I always kind of want to slap people who use 'lay' when they mean 'lie' but mostly because the intro sounds like Joe Jackson's It's Different For Girls which pisses all over their mess and I used to get unnecessarily excited and then hideously disappointed when I heard the introduction on the radio...)

daftpunk · 27/12/2008 21:43

... picture a summers evening in your garden.....kicking back and opening the wine.....the only music you need is some coooooool charlie parker......oh man i can feel the sun already..

daftpunk · 27/12/2008 21:45

solidgold...do you mean chasing cars...snow patrol?....thats a very good song.

expatinscotland · 27/12/2008 21:46

Most rap or cover songs turned into 'dance' shite.

expatinscotland · 27/12/2008 21:47

People who don't know the first thing about how to read or play music, much less sing it, and put out stuff that is so-called music.

Thunderduck · 27/12/2008 21:51

I don't really enjoy mellow music, unless it's a classical piece.

If I go to a concert, and don't return with a sore neck, I haven't had a good time.

OP posts:
solidgoldstuffingballs · 27/12/2008 22:06

Oh, and all those reality-no-talent-show winners whose 'hit' is a cover. They are always all vibrato and no brains, and sing the song as though the lyrics were in Martian or something - no one needs another cover version of Unchained Melody or Love Me Tender....

And while I'n on the subject, is it just me who reckons that the whole video of Bloke Thing who won one of these shows with Against All Odds is like some kind of homoerotic romcom (if you hadn't watched the show)? It's all lingering looks between him and Grouchy Presenter, and lots of hugging and weeping, and then listen to the lyrics...)

solidgoldstuffingballs · 27/12/2008 22:07

Daftpunk. Possibly. And it's not a good song.

expatinscotland · 27/12/2008 22:09

i heard that bloke who won with that Against All Odds cover was playing cruise ships, IIRC .

DoubleBluff · 27/12/2008 22:09

anything sung by screechy women, ie Mariah carey,KT Tunstall, et al

daftpunk · 27/12/2008 22:12

who do you mean solidgold.....was he on Xfactor?.
