...we're too embarrassingly old.

I don't care though.

Oh me - I love them even though I'm probably old enough to be their mum!

snigger · 18/09/2008 22:33

I have just alienated my DSD forever, after twelve years of ardent effort, by singing along to Sex On Fire with the car window down.

36, old enough to know better, and proud !

SixSpotBurnet · 18/09/2008 22:40

I haven't heard the new album yet though - is it any good? I read a review of it which made them sound a bit worryingly bombastic and kind of stadium rock - say it ain't so, someone!

WilfSell · 18/09/2008 22:48

I am going to go out and buy it this very weekend SSB. I like a bit of stadium rock.

SixSpotBurnet · 18/09/2008 22:49

Well, I look forward to your review then WilfSell!

iLoveIceCream · 18/09/2008 22:51

My dad is their biggest fan - lol you're never too old. I dont think their new album is out yet, only on pre-release

WilfSell · 18/09/2008 22:52

Anyone in the music biz can send me a burned copy?

Come on, it was worth a try? Whiley must MN, no? Or does she hate them?

OP posts:
moondog · 18/09/2008 22:53

I thought I'd be really into them.
But CD i bought was a fucking racket.
Must try again.
I must have been in a vile mood.

SixSpotBurnet · 18/09/2008 22:55

Which one is that, Moondog?

There is a very Pixies-esque track on the last album which could justifiably be described as a racket. Fine if you like the Pixies (as I do).

iLoveIceCream · 18/09/2008 22:56

u must be able to import it from america as my dad got a copy from a lad he works with - unfortunately it jumps the whole way through, i was gutted!!!

moondog · 18/09/2008 22:57

Because of the times

I like the Pixies too though.

SixSpotBurnet · 18/09/2008 22:58

Ooh, I recommend you persevere, moondog. 'Tis fantastic. Honest, guv.

moondog · 18/09/2008 22:59

Alright,will give it another whirl.

I am very into blasting Souther rock anyway.

WilfSell · 18/09/2008 23:00

Moondog!

a telegraph reading, Toryish, Phase 8 wearing, Dickenson loving, Welshish, radical BFing...

...Pixies lover.

God, you rock.

moondog · 18/09/2008 23:05

Why thank you!

Top band ever is/was Creedence Clearwater though. I reckon 'Fortunate Son' (slagging off sons of politicians who draft dodged in 60s) is poss. in my top 10.
I ran my best ever 5km in gym to this today.

SixSpotBurnet · 18/09/2008 23:07

Oh, I love that song - I have it on my iPod!

(I'm an Irish, Guardian-reading, Coast-wearing, Roth-reading feminist who rates the Pixies, just in case you're interested .)

moondog · 18/09/2008 23:10

I don't know much about Coast...
Ireland v nice last summer though.
I career through hills full of sheeps, air punching and yowling to that.
I grew up on it. My parents were/are huge CCR fans.

piratecat · 18/09/2008 23:14

ah they are so yummy, i went to see them in 2005, at the ripe old age of 36!!!

AstroPup · 18/09/2008 23:14

Theyre bloody brilliant.
I said to someone the other day how fantastic the single is (probably my song of the year so far) and he said "oh, whats it called?"
"its called.... um, yeah im not too sure" i couldnt bring myse;f to say 'sex is on fire'

piratecat · 18/09/2008 23:26

AstroPup · 18/09/2008 23:49

Oh @ that song...

And at 1 or 2 of the others while i'm at it, I suppose!

piratecat · 18/09/2008 23:51

imagine boxing day ruond at their house!!

Raahh · 19/09/2008 18:01

mmm LOVE this song...

They SOUND older than they look though, don't they?? ( justifies crush to self )

southeastastra · 19/09/2008 18:03

i went to see them moondog and thought they sounded like a racket too, don't mind some o f the songs but they're not a stadium band and they're really for blokes

niceglasses · 19/09/2008 18:05

Oh God am obsessed. Saw them at Glastonbury.......want to marry all of them. Am 40 but don't care.
