F*ck me this thread takes me back .

Slightly odd to have SoM on with 64 zoo lane in the background.

I remember seeing Fields of the Nephilim in Newcastle in 1989 I think and being disappoined how small the lead singer was in real life LOL!! Carl something or other. Better looking than Andrew Eldritch anyway - wonder what he's doing these days - what does a retired Goth lead singer DO???

retiredgoth · 12/08/2008 19:06

....sadly, Andrew Eldritch is a non-retired Goth.

He drags himself around second rate venues with a bunch of black clad journeymen grinding out old Hot Chocolate songs and the like to this day...

...saw the bedraggled proof for myself about a year ago..

Old Goths never die, they just drink fewer Snakebite and blacks....

liath · 12/08/2008 19:23

Oh dear, how sad! I thought he might be doing something entirely different like breeding greyhounds.

The Cure are fab. They were playing "Friday I'm In Love" in Starbucks today and the dds told me off for dancing.

Fanlight · 12/08/2008 19:30

Ooh. I had a boyfriend who was very like Robert Smith but thinner.

He was fantastic.

I remember having a row with a girl in the sixth form about the fact (yes fact I tell you) that Robert Smith was Not A Goth.

She said he was.

Noo. he did GOOD songs. He smiled sometimes too.

Fanlight · 12/08/2008 19:30

Though i don't like the later stuff like friday I'm in love. Too commercial and jolly imo.

Tatties · 12/08/2008 19:39

at boyfriends who look like Robert Smith

Someone once told me I looked like him
It was several years ago, mind, and dyed black hair with red lipstick was my look. It was the best compliment anyone had ever paid me

EachPeachPearMum · 12/08/2008 20:08

For Duchess... (The Neph, Moonchild)

Anyone like All About Eve?

janeite · 12/08/2008 20:15

Yes- I used to really want Julianne Regan's hair - but mine was more like Robert Smith's unfortunately.

CatIsSleepy · 12/08/2008 20:31

ah yes fanlight-later stuff is all a bit jolly...but Friday does just make you want to dance around in a slightly lunatic fashion which has to be a good thing, no?

lol @ cod's embarrasing moment with geetar teacher

Had to put Staring at The Sea on whilst reading this thread.
I really don't like Friday I'm In Love or Lovecats. Much prefer the gloomy stuff.

Ooh love 10:15 Saturday Night (on now).

janeite · 12/08/2008 20:50

10.15 Saturday Night is one of my favourite songs EVER! Totally mad!

chipmonkey · 13/08/2008 00:47

I LOVE lovecats!!!!LOL @ cod and they guitat teacher! Could have been the start of something beautiful!

Bronze · 13/08/2008 08:46

EachPeachPearMum I had a copy of an All About Eve tape I was given years ago . I've never known what any of the songs or the album is called. I think I'm going to have to do some research.

EachPeachPearMum · 13/08/2008 08:55

Is it the purple one? Thats the one I had... think it may just have been called 'All About Eve'

Bronze · 13/08/2008 09:00

No idea it was just a copy but I think it might be Touched By Jesus after looking on you tube and recognising one of the songs.

Fanlight · 13/08/2008 09:02

I had one without a title I think. It had Apple tree man, Martha's harbour (I still sing this!) and several others. Purpley cover I think.

janeite · 13/08/2008 12:19

Eachpeach - I have emailed you! Stop listening to old goth stuff and read yer emails!

EachPeachPearMum · 13/08/2008 18:41
