At a risk of sounding rather morbid, what music would you want played at your funeral?

I sadly went to a funeral yesterday and it made me think of writing out what I want, should I die.

There is so much music that means something to me, but what would you want playing at your send off?

I am thinking of:

Al Green - Ain't No Sunshine
Robbie Williams - Feel
Evanescence - My Immortal
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Westlife - You Raise Me Up

Quint that sounds really good!

The funeral I attended yesterday was for someone who had died suddenly in an accident - it was a lovely funeral (as much as they ever can be) and suited him perfectly.

However I would hate for mine to be done without any input from me - I'm such a control freak!

I want Evanscence- My immortal too.

My friend died 2 years ago from breast cancer. She choose every song, reading and poem at her funeral I miss her so much

Hecate · 02/08/2008 21:19

moshie, I'm sorry you lost your dad.

If that song was well suited to your dad, I think I'd have liked him a lot!

I have my funeral all planned out. [morbid]

I wonder if I can get away with requesting everyone wears deely-boppers and big clown noses?

Sidge · 02/08/2008 21:21

Don't laugh but I'm in the middle of a Word document stipulating what I want

eva cassidy - somewhere over the rainbow

ronan keating - I hope you dance - as a message to everyone else.

I want the reading - do not stand at my grave and weep - I read this for my nan.

I attended my grandmother's funeral last week and she had

wind beneath my wings - my cousins and I started bawling like anything the minute they played that.

smile - not sure who it is by - you know - smile though your heart is aching, smile even though it's breaking - played through a photo montage

we left the chapel to her aussie rules team song - brought a smile to everyone's face.

lazaroulovesleggings · 02/08/2008 22:02

Pulp - Disco 2000
Stereophonics - 1000 trees
Sophie Ellis Bexter - take me home

mil had Abba 'I have a dream' on the way in, and 'dancing queen' on the way out. Apparently we were supposed to dance as we went out! Bloody hell, I could hardly walk. Funerals are horrible!

AbstractMouse · 02/08/2008 22:03

Deacon Blue - I Will See You Tomorrow

Outside the world
The wind is howling
Through the broken trees
And the moon is shining
As the river meets the sea

And I will see you tomorrow
Calm and bright in tender light
And my heart will be racing
Like your wakening eyes

Inside my room the curtain's blowing
And our bed it lies unmade
But the morning will be broken
By the loving words you say

And I will see you tomorrow
Calm and bright in tender light
And my heart will be racing
Like your wakening eyes

Though you're far still your heart sounds loud beating time with me
Through the day the only grace I get is
I want to be you

In the world time were rushing
Like the cool evening breeze
But my soul is calm
And I will see you presently
