Taylor Swift lyrics

Craftysue · 20/11/2025 17:36

My daughter (20's)is a big Taylor Swift fan and I would like to get her some wall art for Xmas. I've found a company that prints song lyrics onto posters. Can anyone suggest some lyrics ( a couple of lines) that I can use for a poster please ( and the song it's from)
Thanks

“i Had the time of my life fighting dragons with you”from Long Live is iconic

SummaLuvin · 21/11/2025 13:46

Long Live is a great suggestion.

Taylor has a huge discography and fans vary widely in what their faves are - do you know her favourite songs or albums?

Or if she went to the Eras tour what night and location did she go? Each show had different surprise songs so something from one of those would be special.

holachicatita · 21/11/2025 14:21

Lovely idea. There are hundreds and hundreds of lines you could use.

Every night when my daughter goes to bed I'll say to her 'your braid's like a pattern.' And she says 'Love you to the Moon and to Saturn.' Im going to get this on her wall someday. From the song Seven on Folklore.

I think you need to ask her! If she’s a full on Swifty then she’s probably deep dived particular songs and has ones that she relates too the most!

For example All Too Well is MY song but I wouldn’t have it on the wall now I’m happily married.

LOVE the idea of using lyrics from the surprise songs if she went to the tour! Be a little careful though, one night I got Haunted x Exile so that’s very dark and again wouldn’t have it on the wall!

The second time we got Change x Long Live however so this would be epic!

Craftysue · 21/11/2025 17:41

I know she watched the show in Cardiff - I will see if I can find out the surprise song - thanks for the suggestions

So the Cardiff surprise songs were I Forgot that You Existed x This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things

followed by I Hate It Here x The Lakes

the first three are fairly miserable breakup songs/ friendship enders so not sure they work for permanent wall hangings!

The Lakes is also pretty sad but she talks about her own songwriting and inspirations in it so if she’s hardcore Swifty, it’s the one you want to go for (unless she’s particularly mega into any of the others!).

The most famous line (and the one that lends itself best to artwork) would be “take me to the lakes where all the poets went to die”

user1471548941 · 21/11/2025 18:24

It’s about her own trips to the actual Lake District and references Windermere if that’s any inspiration.

SoScarletItWas · 21/11/2025 18:35

I would ask her what her favourite song is.

Without that info I suggest:

To live for the hope of it all
(from August)

Hold on to the memories / they will hold on to you
(from New Year’s Day)

I wanna be defined by the things that I love
(from Daylight m)

Craftysue · 21/11/2025 19:02

I looked up the Cardiff songs and I wasn't too keen on the lyrics. I really want to surprise her and if I start talking about Taylor Swift she will definitely suspect something. I think I will ask one of her friends about her favourite song.
Thanks for the suggestions

From I Hate It Here I would go for 'lunar valleys in my mind' and for The Lakes 'take me to the lakes' or 'I want auroras and sad prose'. I agree that the first set of songs don't really work.

EmeraldRoulette · 22/11/2025 10:24

@Craftysue I would try to get a conversation with her about it, otherwise you are dealing with too huge a job

Also, if she's taken any video from the concert, then there will be a giveaway in there about what she might like

CtrlAltDelete89 · 22/11/2025 10:27

Previous suggestions are all great! I always like the lines from You're on Your Own Kid, which is sad but ultimately hopeful and strong - "make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it, you've got no reason to be afraid'.

I was going to suggest this too, an obvious choice maybe but iconic and what a song You're On Your Own Kid is! I am a devoted Swiftie, named our daughter after one of hersongs, not Betty, Marjorie, Dorothea, Clara, Cassandra, Aimee or Emma though!
In my opinion, she's the greatest lyricist in pop music history, a true poet, so narrowing down favourite lyrics is hard but your suggestion is a great one. You're On your Own Kid is also the song the newly released and long-awaited Eras snow globe plays so it clearly has significance to Taylor herself. The problem is that some of my favourite Taylor lyrics are quite melancholy, so probably not ideal choices for a piece of hopefully uplifting wall art! However, here are a few other favourites of mine that might fit the bill:
"Best Believe I'm Still Bejewelled when I walk in the room
I can still make the whole place Shimmer."
or maybe
"What's a girl gonna do?
A diamond's gotta shine."
both from Bejewelled on Midnights which is a pretty positive song
If she's into cats, like Taylor herself, then these lines from Karma might be fun!:
"Karma is a cat
Purring in my lap cause it loves me."
This beautiful lyric from Paris, also from Midnights, would make for a great artwork I reckon:
"Levitate above all the messes made
Sit quiet by my side in the shade
And not the kind that's thrown
I mean, the kind under where a tree has grown"
happiness from evermore is an exquisite song with some of her best lyrics, which is saying something, but most of the lyrics are very sad and wistful. However, I have always thought there is a lot of hope reflected in the lyrics too, and this lovely lyric and is a great example of that and would probably very much appeal to a die-hard Swiftie like your daughter as this is something of a fan favourite:
""In our History
Across Our Great Divide
There is a glorious sunrise
Dappled with the flickers of light
From the dress I wore at midnight.
Leave it all behind."
There are also two lines from tracks on 1989 which, while not amongst my absolute favourites, I always thought were fun and pithy and would make great t-shirt slogans. First, from Blank Space:
"Darling, I'm a nightmare
Dressed like a daydream."
From New Romantics:
We're too busy dancing to get knocked off our feet.""
If I were you I'd probably play it safe and go for the You're On your Own Kid lyrics, but I'd personally choose the happiness or Paris lyrics as they are my favourites! Good luck, I'm sure she'll love whatever you choose!

@Craftysue This is a great idea. Could you share the details of the printing company please?

Pollyanna87 · 23/11/2025 18:47

The lyrics to ‘You’re on Your Own, Kid’ are fan favourites.

The company is wallbery.co.uk.
This is my first order but my friend has used them before and highly recommended them

Thanks for all the suggestions
I messaged her swifty friend last night and she suggested " everything you lose is a step you take" from one of her favourite songs so I'm going with that
Thanks again 👍

That's from You're On Your Own Kid. If that's one of her favourite songs then the lyrics suggested up thread would be a better choice IMO.

Fends · 24/11/2025 08:28

If my mum bought me wall art with that lyric I’d wonder what the fuck was going on 😅 seriously, stick with the bracelets suggestion

Craftysue · 24/11/2025 08:42

Her dad died a couple of years ago so her friend suggested that the lyrics meant a lot to her - I'm happy with my choice
