Sabrina Carpenter Lol GIF by First We Feast

Songs similar to my fave band atm Fontaines DC, who are Irish. The song I've got in my head is:

You know I love that violence
That you get around here
That kind of ready-steady violence
That violent 'how do you do'
And the lie when his Daddy was asleep in a phone booth

Liberty Belle by Fontaines DC

I wanna feel like i'm in The Peaky Blinders, having done some coke and about to have a fight for no reason

Cos there's nothing else to do in my deprived town. Grrrr

I like listening to music like this whilst I do the school run (on the way to get dd/after having dropped her off, of course!) super loud in the car, enjoying my freedom

(Well, the five hours of it i have while dd is at school, obvs)

After pickup, we listen to Matt and Mollie, which is definitely, definitely just as fun!

Sprints are amazing…also Irish and female fronted. Whipping boy were a fave of mine as well.

Roundaboot · 22/10/2025 10:22

King Blues
Frank Turner (not all of his stuff is angry but it is very singalongable)
The Meffs

@BigSkies2022 indeed!! Bang 5.15 on very loud!!

BigSkies2022 · 22/10/2025 16:55

I’d forgotten about Crass! ‘I walk around with a big Alsatian, he’ll rearrange you with no provocation’.

Wigtopia · 22/10/2025 16:55

Mclusky

BigSkies2022 · 22/10/2025 16:59

‘Inside, outside, where have I been? Outta my head on the 5.15! Outta my braaaiinnn on the traaiinnn!’ That bit from Quadrophenia with Phil Daniel’s, eyes kohl rimmed, certainly makes me want to go out and take drugs. (I won’t obviously, as I am old and law-abiding.)

Omg! Love Sprints and loved Whipping Boy!

Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes. My Town and I hate you are particularly tasty

NevilleBigBottom · 22/10/2025 17:21

Honeyblood - try Sea Hearts
Vukovi - try Animal

Both Scottish bands

Mars from The Planets by Holst

The 1st movement of Vaughan Williams' 6th symphony

Ginormarse · 22/10/2025 23:20

Yuk Foo by Wolf Alice. Shouty, angry and full of expletives. My go to song when driving home from a shit day at work.

Crikeyalmighty · 23/10/2025 15:03

@Ginormarse yep that’s the kind of day my H plays Black sabbath or some Led Zep in the car!!

GagMeWithASpoon · 23/10/2025 17:35

And of course Black Sabbath's eponymous song was inspired by Holst's Mars, indelibly cementing the tritone as a motif for war, destruction, and chaos.

Just wanted to add Lambrini Girls to my list. Been enjoying ‘Big Dick Energy’ a lot when driving around this week.

SodOffbacktoaibu · 09/11/2025 10:02

@howdoibegin I thought I might like them and then found terf wars and they are not for me. Don't want to derail with the FWR chat, but the lyrics are absolutely not my life experience or world view so I can't support them.

I'm the same, a real shame to be honest as I enjoyed BDE and also liked Cuntology 101. Not for me either after I found that.

howdoibegin · 09/11/2025 10:24

@LeanToWhatToDo@SodOffbacktoaibu I agree but I forwarded past that one.

I think too much about what I support with my likes. I wouldn't put £ towards things that I think cause harm to women (such as people who vandalise buildings and get aggressive towards feminists) but I know not everyone is the same. Like Sodoff I won't derail the thread.

CaffeinatedSeagull · 13/11/2025 11:35

Big Special?

Pharazon · 14/11/2025 12:53

@LeanToWhatToDo @howdoibegin I think it's virtually impossible to be TERFy in the music industry. Lambrini Girls didn't surprise me at all, I mean they're a female punk band from Brighton right? I was disappointed to see Georgia from Nova Twins in a 'Protect the Dolls' top, but again not surprised. Never particularly taken with Lambrini Girls but I'm not going to stop buying Nova Twins or TLDP or MARINA records or seeing them live, even if I disagree with them on this point.
