Sabrina Carpenter Lol GIF by First We Feast

Songs similar to my fave band atm Fontaines DC, who are Irish. The song I've got in my head is:

You know I love that violence
That you get around here
That kind of ready-steady violence
That violent 'how do you do'
And the lie when his Daddy was asleep in a phone booth

Liberty Belle by Fontaines DC

I wanna feel like i'm in The Peaky Blinders, having done some coke and about to have a fight for no reason

Cos there's nothing else to do in my deprived town. Grrrr

I like listening to music like this whilst I do the school run (on the way to get dd/after having dropped her off, of course!) super loud in the car, enjoying my freedom

(Well, the five hours of it i have while dd is at school, obvs)

After pickup, we listen to Matt and Mollie, which is definitely, definitely just as fun!

Punk Classics like:
White Riot
London Calling
Eton Rifles
Identity

Agree with PP that Squid make a great loud noise.
That song from Riot Girls 'Take Everything' is good. And they are maybe too melodic for what you want but lots of Sam Fender's songs are politically angry.

The 'take everything' song from riot women is Violet by Hole- excellent choice for that mood!
Echoing the Clash and early Jam suggestions. Also 'the man don't give a fuck' by the super furry animals. Which sadly I have on standby if Reform win Caerphilly by-election on Thursday 😫

Loud and British - Iron Maiden or Ozzy Osborne (solo or as Black Sabbath)

Me too! Are you going to the London gog at The Troxy? 😁

Glasgow, I’m up in Scotland. But I did go down to London to see them at Heaven last year because that dance floor holds a lot of teenage memories for me from the 80s 😊

Oh and it's not loud or angry but it is a bit moody and very funny - Get down services

Hahaha- took my 15 year old DS to an indoor kind of music festival in our Cornish town and we walked in halfway through Get Down Service's set, to find them topless and shouting "MOTHERFUCKERRRRRR!" at the tops of their voices 😆. They were great though.

Sprints. They are another Irish punk loud band fronted by a woman who is amazing.
Amyl and the Sniffers
Self-Esteem- not punk so much but a woman with attitude.

See, I was trying to think of contemporary angry women and these two came to mind- but not British. (But then why does it matter?)

Another vote for Idles!
amazing to see live

I had to beat a hasty retreat from the moshpit when I went to see them. Guess I'm not 17 any more...

Panic Shack are a Cardiff band - lots of really good songs to blast out.

Meal deal is a banger and makes me smile ...also the ick. They're fun.

Not the TV show one - that one is all profiting some old white man!

Not British and not overwhelmingly loud, but I always find a good shout along to the Pixies - Debaser to be very cathartic?

Me too. I love how unhinged they are.

Jasmin71 · 21/10/2025 11:32

Skunk Anansie
The Clash
Therapy
Prodigy
Sabbath

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 21/10/2025 12:34

The Alarm
The Clash
Billy Idol
The Damned
Siouxie and the Banshees

Am I showing my age yet?

ThePure · 21/10/2025 13:21

Blast from the past Transvision Vamp: I want your love. How much did I want to be Wendy James in the early 90s!

She’s touring at the moment. Her solo work is very good.

Amazing band from Macclesfield and really nice guys too. The chorus of this one is particularly angry. Lots of lyrics around political corruption in their songs.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 21/10/2025 14:20

So today I listened to skunk anansie's first album - amazing

The libertines first album, just because

And now i'm listening to The Virgin Mary's latest album - song one is good so far 👀👀
