Sabrina Carpenter Lol GIF by First We Feast

Songs similar to my fave band atm Fontaines DC, who are Irish. The song I've got in my head is:

You know I love that violence
That you get around here
That kind of ready-steady violence
That violent 'how do you do'
And the lie when his Daddy was asleep in a phone booth

Liberty Belle by Fontaines DC

I wanna feel like i'm in The Peaky Blinders, having done some coke and about to have a fight for no reason

Cos there's nothing else to do in my deprived town. Grrrr

I like listening to music like this whilst I do the school run (on the way to get dd/after having dropped her off, of course!) super loud in the car, enjoying my freedom

(Well, the five hours of it i have while dd is at school, obvs)

After pickup, we listen to Matt and Mollie, which is definitely, definitely just as fun!

The Who? Won’t get Fooled Again?

Have to say when I’m in this sort of mood I cross the pond and play Sabotage by the Beastie Boys and Straight Outta Compton by NWA.

Skunk Anansie is a personal favourite - Weak being the classic.

Yes to Weak also You’ll Follow Me Down

Another vote for Idles!
amazing to see live

They are amazing live! One of the best bands ive seen

powershowerforanhour · 20/10/2025 23:11

Another vote for Stiff Little Fingers- try Alternative Ulster or Suspect Device

Catatonia- I Am the Mob, Storm the Palace

Manics- Masses Against the Classes

When you're feeling a bit more mellow , Gerry Cinnamon- Canter or Sometimes

therewasafishinthepercolator · 20/10/2025 23:13

Sultans of Ping fc is a good shout.

Therapy? - Screamager or Still Hurts

Cranberries- Zombie

Garbage- maybe not shouty enough for you but they are when I'm singing along. 😁Can't sit still either. Makes me want to jump around and kick stuff. When I Grow Up. Stupid Girl.

howdoibegin · 20/10/2025 23:15

SPRINTS are Irish, and they are fab! Great live act too, seen them 3 times now and going again next month.

maudelovesharold · 20/10/2025 23:15

World Shut Your Mouth - Julian Cope

soddingspiderseason · 20/10/2025 23:18

The Jam. Earlier rather than later stuff. Proper angry young men.

roslyn80 · 20/10/2025 23:18

Another vote for Idles, have that violent feel to them
Also thinking maybe try
Royal Blood,
Violent Femmes
Hole
Placebo
Misfits
Kneecap

mustytrusty · 20/10/2025 23:24

Pretty much anything by The Jam (other than English Rose) but Down in the Tube Station at Midnight, Eton Rifles and a Town Called Malice would fit this I reckon.

howdoibegin · 20/10/2025 23:26

Also I want to big up this 2024 song - No Hunks by Love Shovel, they’re an Australian band that might not even still be together but this is one of my favourite songs for screaming along to when I’m driving alone. “From all the unapologetic women, we say FUCK YOUUUU!”

Pharazon · 20/10/2025 23:28

Nova Twins
Wargasm
Lambrini Girls

Cinaferna · 20/10/2025 23:30

Punk Classics like:
White Riot
London Calling
Eton Rifles
Identity

Agree with PP that Squid make a great loud noise.
That song from Riot Girls 'Take Everything' is good. And they are maybe too melodic for what you want but lots of Sam Fender's songs are politically angry.

A town called malice - turned up to 11.

The use of that track in Billy Elliot was inspired.

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 20/10/2025 23:48

There's a cool, angry song called 'Husband' by, I think a band called Fluffy, that's pretty shouty (and anti-men).

It's on an album I had called 'Ladykillers', which has a lot of cathartic songs on it, including the previously mentioned 'Weak' by S. Anansie.

Also 'Not My Idea' by Garbage. Contains the classic line: 'You thought I was a little girl, you thought I was a little mouse, you thought you took me by surprise, now I'm here burning down your house.'

MrsAukerman · 20/10/2025 23:57

Bruise Control

begonia27 · 21/10/2025 00:04

Not British and not overwhelmingly loud, but I always find a good shout along to the Pixies - Debaser to be very cathartic?

PGmicstand · 21/10/2025 00:06

Blarn · 20/10/2025 21:12

Oooh, can I suggest Australian instead of British? Amyl and the Sniffers. Security and Hertz are hood places to start.

And C.O.F.F.I.N

KatastrophyWife · 21/10/2025 00:17

Babes in toyland, literally pick any of their songs and you'll get pure, unadulterated anger. Immensely cathartic.

Doublebubblegum · 21/10/2025 00:29

You need early Manic Street Preachers for loud and angry. Generation Terrorists is a great album for this mood

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 21/10/2025 01:12

And, of course, Rage Against the Machine.

unhappybutunsureofwork · 21/10/2025 07:54

Panic Shack are a Cardiff band - lots of really good songs to blast out.

LeanToWhatToDo · 21/10/2025 08:03

Lots of great suggestions and a few new ones for me. Is anyone making a playlist by any chance?

ThePure · 21/10/2025 08:34

Left field but I love Richard Dawson. He is very unique. Love it or hate it but it’s exactly the vibe you describe and very British. His songs are dark punky folk
Try ‘Jogging’ or ‘Vile Stuff’
