I'm getting married later this year. Its a civil ceremony - very informal/non traditional - with a big party after.

We need five songs for the ceremony - one to walk in to, three whilst the register is being signed and one to come out to

I've had a couple of ideas but would be interested to hear others..

Also - we're having a cheesy disco at night - what would you include in your "must play" list

Thanks

walk in to Canon in D

beautiful

oopsadaisyangel · 22/05/2008 12:27

Ooh watching with interest as looking for the exact same

x

MamaG · 22/05/2008 12:27

if you You Tube it, there's a young lad playing electric guitar to it but you get the gist

TillyScoutsmum · 22/05/2008 12:32

I do like Canon in D and will probably go with a classical piece for walking in but we're thinking of something more modern/non traditional for the others. Is non traditional stuff in wedding ceremonies a bit naff ?!

Tilly did you see the classical music thread a while back, there were some good options on there.

nimrod

handel

roffling

TillyScoutsmum · 22/05/2008 12:40

Slur - that's brilliant We're avoiding the first dance thing altogether but if I was pissed enough ........

swiftyknickers · 22/05/2008 12:42

ooooo me too tilly-will nick all your ideas then!!

where you getting your dress

TillyScoutsmum · 22/05/2008 12:50

Swifty - the dress is a sore subject. Thought I'd sorted it but the shop I was going to order from don't stock it anymore... So now I'm looking at others... Not going for a wedding dress though - probably a bridesmaid/cocktail dress thing.

When are you getting married ? (and you oopsadasiy). Maybe we should have a wedding thread

Got to have 'I'm in the mood for dancing' at the cheesy disco.

S1ur · 22/05/2008 12:57

oh no no Tilly but that dress was gorgeous! aarrgh! Right do you want a hand looking? HAve you exhausted high street places? MOnsoon/debenhams etc?

cyteen · 22/05/2008 13:00

One I've always wanted to walk back out to is Darling, Darling, Darling by the Meters. It's a lovely cheery bit of funk with a simple love-sing lyric - I can just see people strutting up the aisle and into the sunshine

Re. the wedding disco, as far as I'm concerned every cheesy disco must include Queen - Don't Stop Me Now.

TillyScoutsmum · 22/05/2008 13:03

Slur - I know. Tis my own fault for not ordering it sooner but I have been dieting so wanted to leave it as late as possible.

Have had a little look in High St - but haven't seen anything I fancy. Monsoon wedding dresses are lovely but I don't want a wedding dress ... I don't want white/ivory. I don't think I want long. I'm thinking deep red, dark green etc (winter wedding). Have seen some nice ones on t'interweb (bridemaid ones) - just need to get round to a few bridal shops and try them on (not possible with dd in tow and a nightmare at weekends when I can go out on my own).

I've got a while to go so I'm thinking Debenhams and the like might have some nice stuff once the winter party dresses come out

Ah cyteen - a girl after my own heart. Don't stop me now is fab. Possible contender for walking out to but will try and youtube the Meters.

P.S. You tube is fab but aibu to think that some of the people posting comments on there are seriously short on braincells ??

So good I told you twice.

carolcupcake · 22/05/2008 13:09

When I was younger I wanted to walk down the aisle to Eternal Flame by the Bangles!

We are planning our wedding just now and I have music picked out but it would sound really cheesy to anyone else I'm sure, but I'm happy to camp it up! I've got Dolly Parton lined up and DP is ok with it
Just have to have this baby and then lose the baby weight.....

TillyScoutsmum · 22/05/2008 13:11

Pj - Michael Bolton !! Go hang your head in shame . Did you get married in 2003/4 by any chance ?

I love Songbird but had it as my first dance at my wedding to my ex h so that's probably a no

carolcupcake · 22/05/2008 13:18

Ehm, please feel free to vomit....
I'm going to be walking in to A Moment Like This by Kelly Clarkson, definitely NOT the Leona Lewis version. It means a lot to us as a couple. Nauseating eh?! It makes me cry though.

Also having Love Is Like A Butterfly by Dolly Parton, I've always loved it and we are having a butterfly kind of theme on invitations etc. Cheesy I know!

Our first dance is probably going to be Only You by Yazoo, but could change.

FruitynNutty · 22/05/2008 13:18

I'm wondering the same actually. I was thinking a bit of Chaz n Dave
