Is anyone going to Glastonbury this year and wants to chat about line up, wardrobe, weather forecast etc?

It will be my 14th Glastonbury - I am obsessed. However as I didn't manage to get tickets in the general sale or resale this year, I've been lucky to secure a place as an Oxfam steward. I'll be onsite from Tuesday before gates open to the public on Wednesday

Me!

I am feeling unprepared - I only have one outfit sorted, and haven't started figuring out what we want to go and watch yet.

MakeTeaNotWar · 06/06/2024 07:31

@welshweasel I'm going to plan wardrobe the weekend before when we have a better idea of what the weather will do 🙏

Oxfam allocate shifts on arrival (3 x 8 hours) so I have no idea when I'll be free to watch the music.

Where do you plan to camp?

OP posts:
welshweasel · 06/06/2024 07:55

East quiet campervans. Not sure I have it in me to do proper Glasto camping ever again! Also we can only get childcare Thursday to Sunday, so we'd have to camp somewhere really crap. I guess you get workers camping?

PollyIndia · 13/06/2024 16:47

Me! Last one I missed was 2005 and even DS was born in a fallow year. Welshweasel I too cannot do proper camping anymore. We have a campervan as well., and I'm also going Thursday due to childcare. I have lots of outfit ideas, but I'm not buying anything new and I can't start really thinking about it until the weather situation is a bit clearer...

@welshweasel @PollyIndia I hope you both had a wonderful time! It was amazing

Yes I’m going again, very excited already. Have my friend coming to stay on Friday to start planning outfits!

ClaredeBear · 29/04/2025 16:53

I’m not an outfits kind of gal - with I was and I take my hat off to those who are! I tend to be very practical so if anyone has any tips about jazzing up my practical wardrobe, please share.

According to the current draft of the clashfinder, I’ve already got a Biffy v Self Esteem clash 😏

bowchicawowwow · 29/04/2025 18:17

I’m going! Not done full festival for 22 years but have done several Sundays there over the years. Really excited and taking our motorhome for first time

MakeMeJuno · 01/05/2025 11:23

I am going! I will also be 6 months pregnant so not sure what I have got myself in for but haven't missed one since 2016... underwhelming headliners but great line up overall IMO

MidLifeResurgence74 · 05/05/2025 10:09

Am so excited! I’ve been going since 1994 and I’ve lived near it for nearly 20 years. As soon as the cow parsley arrives in the hedgerows I get a buzz of anticipation. Have done Glastonbury in so many different ways over the years -early doors we brought little with us and just tended to party until we dropped! Latterly I’ve volunteered and because we live so close have popped home for showers etc 😂This year we’ve got offsite camping - quiet and restful I hope and I’m basically treating it like our summer holiday. Here’s to the magic of the fields 🥳

londonfever · 16/05/2025 09:13

Hi all, piling onto this thread - we are attending for the first time this year and I'm so excited but was hoping to get some tips & tricks from you seasoned professionals please!
We are camping but off site slightly...

MakeTeaNotWar · 16/05/2025 17:11

@londonfeverwhere are you camping? Don’t underestimate the walking, wear your comfiest shoes. Gets v cold at night. Carry your own toilet paper…

I don't go but really pleased The 1975 are headlining

Hopefully, some of you can come back and give me a full report on that. I hope we hear the whole of Glastonbury yelling "selling petrol" 😍

londonfever · 19/05/2025 08:43

Thanks @MakeTeaNotWar - we are in Glampville. The toilet paper is a great shout and not one i had on my bingo card for wandering around site!

MakeMeJuno · 19/05/2025 09:40

@londonfever might not work for everyone (if you're squeamish) but get familiar with a shee wee and a wide neck fabric conditioner bottle (or similar), and then you don't have to get up and dressed for night time wees... my most comfy shoes have always been my teva sandals. Bring breakfast stuff to eat at the queues are always AWFUL. Spend Weds and Thurs getting your bearings and eating the goan fish curry because by Friday the queue is always insane. Similarly if it's your thing visit NYC downlow on Weds because you won't get in any other time.

Finally espresso martini can be made up nicely at home by mixing 50/50 vodka and coffee liqueur, then when on the farm and ready to drink add a splash of cold brew... tastes perfectly fine lukewarm in the field :D

I’m a huge 1975 fan as are all my kids - this will be the 7th time I’ve seen them so was delighted that they are headlining. I will absolutely report back!

Has anyone done anything this weekend to prepare? I’ve located my tent, mallet & sleeping mat. Bought toilet roll to bring & some gin in tin. Not long now!

I think I’ve finalised these. I print them out on A3, double sided (I’ll try an A4 this year too and fold. It’s a poor replacement for the little book we used to get but it works well enough and I take a few copies with me because people often ask where they can get one from.

What’s everyone looking forward to the most?

I’ve never taken small children but the kids field looks amazing. Will anyone spend much time there?

I’m not sure what I’m looking forward to the most, I’m just so grateful to be able to go again. 😃

bowchicawowwow · 15/06/2025 21:54

I’ve washed all the motorhome bedding and been planning my lineup on the app. Bought some new S hooks for the toilet doors to hang my bag on. I’m so excited already

Hi there first timer at Glastonbury this year we are glamping slightly offsite. What do you all mean by ‘outfits’ I was just thinking denim shorts and vest tops and leggings for evening with layers. Do I need to up my game?

Are wellies essential? I have walking boots but my wellies have holes in and leak and not got round to replacing.

Your wardrobe is similar to mine then - and the majority of people who go. It’s just that some people like to dress up more and with so many people on-site there’s a decent cross section of styles. I where what’s comfortable for the weather in the day and take something warmer for the evening as we don’t return to the tent. Do not worry at all about dressing up 😃

In terms of footwear, if it rains wellies are essential as you could be more than ankle deep in mud. I would get some and leave them in the boot, assuming you’re traveling by car.
