My DS1 is at an Institute of modern music.On the introduction day-i thought i'd gone to heaven,the lecturers were all spiky haired, bullet belted and tight black jeaned.. good looking too..Even the principle!

Wish I could but I don't live in Uk now!

I was 15 and dad waited outside in the car for me and best friend!

Right! I've finally got my tickets for the Cult. Should have got them months ago and DH gave me a bit of a bollocking last night because he offered to get them in Decemeber! Anyway!! Sunday night I can't wait!

guess what, it was awful! :(

we left 20 minutes into the cult's set.

the sound was absolutely dreadful, and rock city was rammed to the point where i am sure they sold way too many tickets than capacity. we couldnt see a thing and the only place we could find to stand was near the toilets

i hope you have a better experience upahill - where are you seeing them?

ps- you mentioned fuzzboz, two of my friends are in that band, sarah and becky, they joined when the singer reformed them a couple of years ago :o

I'm going to the Academy in Manchester. They are at Academy 1 which is the biggest of the 3 venues.

Normally DH stays at the back and I go off by myself and wind my way to near the front. (It's easier if I do it by myself, people seem to thing you are going back to your mates!)

Sound is usually OK there. The only duff gig I've seen is HIM but that was more to do with them than the venue.

I got tickets today. I tried to get them from the Academy direct but they are over the counter only but still had some left and I rang another place in Manchester to get them and they still had some - so not a sold out gig. It is more than 12 years since I've seen them at that too was at the Academy.

I hear Fuzzbox are doing the Goth festival!

upahill, when's the gig? I like the academy as a venue, hate big venues.

Well I went to see the Cult last night at teh Academy in Manchester.

Really good gig!

Masters of Reality were second support (missed Romance) They were good although got a bit self indulgent and Hawkwindish towards the end!

Then the Cult...

They started with Every and woman is a star and then went into Sweet Soul Sister.

The venue was packed and we could hardly move even while the support was on which is unusual.

Sound wise it was good. Maybe Ian's vocals where a bit down on 'She sell's ..' but no problem.

Ian had a moan about people taking film and told them just to enjoy the show. Said he didn't mind picutes but come on....

The band members left the stage for 5 mins while a silent political film was put on. Before they left the stage Astbury asked the crowd ' Well, who did you think you'd come to see tonight' making the point the band have always been political.

Towards the end they did a cover of 'Break on through' (Morrison does indeed live on through Astbury!)

All four of us came out on a high with me having gained a plectrum from Billy Duffy!!!

Glad you enjoyed it. When I saw them in about 86 Billy Duffy told my friend to F Off because he kept shouting out the title of a Southern Death Cult song. It still makes me giggle.
