Anyone get PIP for anxiety depression ADHD with autistic traits awaiting ASD assessment

I've got my assessment next week.I don't know anyone claiming PIP so I've filled the form in and we will see.Just wonder if anyone one here gets it.
I've not been assessed for autism yet but my ADHD assessor said I had traits.
I feel this explains why I've always had extreme anxiety and struggle in social situations.

I could take ADHD meds except there is a serious heart condition in our family and ASD traits are exposed apparently which is fine except my ADHD covers some of my social issues and makes me more focused on tasks.
It majorly takes away appetite which is difficult when I already forget to eat.
Anti depressants don't work with ASD when the autism is the cause.

They worked for my ASD dd

Thevegetarianchef · 23/01/2026 19:24

Oh I stand corrected.

Why? None of those things stop you from working (I have them, diagnosed as a child, now mid 40s)

I was really ill a few years ago and didn’t meet the threshold for PIP, despite not being able to grip anything with my hands, I couldn’t squeeze a toothpaste tube!

Reassurancells · 23/01/2026 19:32

What things are you meaning?

PIP is an in-work benefit - I work. Full time.

Go you! Everyone should be able to manage without PIP because you do. No need for PIP assessments. You can be a human template.

PIP, by the way, is a benefit that can be claimed if you’re in work OR out of work. I can’t believe how many people don’t seem to know this. Or maybe it just doesn’t fit the narrative of lazy benefits scroungers.

I work full-time.
Always worked except a couple of months burnt out.

Well either you filled the form in wrong, or you weren’t bad enough for pip.

Skybunnee · 24/01/2026 07:11

You could try medication. Use a home blood pressure kit. Perhaps there is something for anxiety you could be taking.
I would guess you might have better chance claiming if you’ve tried and failed at medicating.

PIP does not stop just because some reaches SPA.

Yes, PIP will continue at SPA if the award extends beyond the date the claimant reaches SPA and will, under current rules, at that point, convert to an ongoing award with light touch reviews every ten years. If the award ends and is allowed to lapse after SPA is reached the only alternative is to claim Attendance Allowance which carries no mobility component.

OP as a benefits specialist I advise you to look at the PIP descriptors and possibly the guides available on the Benefits and Work website. It is important you understand how PIP is assessed and scored within the descriptors and the importance of relevant evidence.

Indeed. However your issues with grip wouldn't have met the score threshold across the descriptors. If you had difficulties that scored under other descriptors which you felt at the time should have merited an award then you had the option to request a Mandatory Reconsideration and then appeal if the MR was also unsuccessful- if you applied. If you didn't, then that was your prerogative at the time and doesn't mean other people shouldn't.

There are some cases where PIP can restart after SPA even if the PIP claim has lapsed.

Only after successful appeal outcome from HMCTS. No new claims can be made.

Thevegetarianchef · 24/01/2026 17:37

Lilybunch25 thank you.
I wonder if working will go against me as I always have.
Normal outside life is what I massively struggle with.
I can't do unfamiliar journeys alone.
Struggle with public transport and all forms of crowded spaces.
Forget to eat,or I'm too exhausted after walking most of the way home and tiptoeing around colleagues.
Points wise it's looks like 12/ or above.
My dh gets all the food shopping ( could order online I guess ).

Edited

It isn’t just in appeal situations where claims can restart. There are a minority of other cases where an award can restart after SPA, too. Some who come under the linking rules can have a claim restart post SPA if their previous award ended within the previous year.

Thevegetarianchef · 24/01/2026 17:42

Funnywonder I didn't know about PIP despite having agoraphobia a while back.
I just had CBT via telephone once a week.
Same when I was suicidal.

What additional costs would those conditions cause you? Highlight those

2x4greenbrick · 28/01/2026 13:16

Eligibility for PIP is not based on costs.

Thevegetarianchef · 29/01/2026 14:29

I've had my assessment.I have a vast history of MH and a diagnosed ADHD with autistic traits awaiting ASD assessment.
She asked me about suicidal ideation I don't know if this is normal.
She tried to catch me out which I don't mind.I had notes to remind me of bits.
Waiting 8 weeks for report now.

It’s not about costs. Where did you hear that from?

Thevegetarianchef · 29/01/2026 19:34

I heard it's because of additional costs of having a disability.
To pay for a gardener cleaner or in my case to get stuff delivered as shopping is so difficult.

OP posts:
Absolutelychocolate · 29/01/2026 19:44

I do, I have ASD, ADHD and CPTSD. I suffered burnout many years ago and havent been able to work since.

WorkCleanRepeat · 29/01/2026 20:19

Plenty of people get PIP for exactly that

Thevegetarianchef · 29/01/2026 20:24

Absolutelychocolate do you mind me asking what your proof was for assessment.
I have 40 years documented MH history of depression anxiety panic attacks.
ADHD diagnosis last yr ASD assessment in the pipeline due to significant autistic traits

I've read that you have a husband, why can't he do the gardening, cleaning and shopping?
