Welcome one and all to the new thread. A safe haven for MNetters who identify as neurodiverse, diagnosis or not, and those waiting for assessment. Links available in recent threads. Newbies welcome. We just ask that you introduce yourself Smile

Well done Sweary and that was really kind of Polter to help you.

Alba - In the assessment the lady asked me lots of questions and did the AQ with me. I had already had a full dyslexia test in the past so could already tell her that my working memory is on the 5th centile etc and about my spiky profile. I talked way to much and apparently i answered alot of the questions she needed to ask anyway. She noticed alot too - i was picking bits of my trousers and my tics were in full force. She said i had had traits since atleast 3 and all my history of depression/ anxiety/ self harm/ insomnia etc made sense to. The ocd type stuff she thinks is actually stimming. She said i did have alot of adhd traits too. It is all very new to me though as it had never occured to me that i had aspergers - i went to her about adhd and that is what i thought it was. It isnt a medical assessment but she says that psych she works with will accept her assessment. So i am going to raise abit more money to see him too.

Hmm. Knitting and crocheting come fairly high on the list of "things I am incapable of doing and which inability I can now conveniently blame on ASD". They're just above dancing, and below finding my way anywhere (I'm fine with a map; better than average at mapreading, actually - I score right near the top on tests of, for example, mentally rotating 2D and 3D tests, despite being female and therefore supposedly incapable of bending my pretty little head around tasks like that - but completely fail to recognise even parts of the route to college that I've been driven on twice a week for a year and a term).

I have tried to learn to knit, several times, but while I can faithfully copy another's movements and happily knit a row of stitches, the technique leaves my brain the moment the needles do and I'm learning from scratch the very next time I pick them up (even an hour later). Infuriating!

Here's a video of me dancing at my brother's wedding.

The blanket goes remarkably well with the front cover of "Understanding and Evaluating Autism Theory" - I guess now you know what pattern your next one is going to be.

CloudPerson · 19/11/2016 14:36

Gorgeous blanket and cat!
Rat, what a fantastic dancer you are Grin
I'm too self conscious to dance.
I'm challenging myself to knit a hat. Wool is arriving next week.

autisticrat · 19/11/2016 14:37

I only dance at weddings.

I've been to only two, both this year, both with free bar.

Hahaha I have to do dancing tonight. At a fuxking PARTy. Ugh. I don't wnat to go. I know I'll Prob enjoy it when I'm there but there's gonna be loads of people there who I don't know. And don't care about knowing. And dh has now decided he doesn't want to come after all . Fair enough I know how he feels. I can feel a three day hangover ahead as obv I can't do a party and chitchat without getting totally wankered, over sharing and yet dancing.

Kenworthington · 19/11/2016 14:41

Yet= twat Grin

autisticrat · 19/11/2016 14:43

They repeated a Horizon episode the other night about male and female brains, and I was just congratulating myself on instantly and instinctively getting the right answers on the shape rotation and line angle tests (go me! meanwhile, DP still had that "cogs-going-round" look his face), when S B-C comes on and starts wibbling on about autism and EMB.

autisticrat · 19/11/2016 14:44

You need to drink enough to impair memory formation.

Or, have you tried Rohypnol?

Several things -

  1. I love buttons, and I wear ankle socks with unicorns on them with brogues and culottes to work. I've been told I dress like an eccentric primary school teacher.
  1. Today I'm wearing the same fleece tracksuit bottoms I've been wearing for a week and a half because I'm disgusting.
  1. Pants are not my friends. I am forever buying pants that go in the bin after a day of wedgie hell. Tights I find horrific too.
  1. Something very strange has happened to my hormones.

Has anyone else done bugger all today?

autisticrat · 19/11/2016 15:23

Rohypnol's actually not all that special; feels much like the other benzos (of which I have a drawerful - overenthusiastic prescriber).

autisticrat · 19/11/2016 15:32

Also done bugger all here.

I have a few pairs of boyshort knickers now, as I needed something that wouldn't show under Power Knickers that I wore at aforesaid weddings so I didn't look like a packet of mince in a frock. But mostly, I wear men's briefs, inside-out (because labels). Thick, comfortable cotton, with fully-encapsulated elastic, and plenty of room. Mmm. Comfy. Like having your bum gently cuddled all day. In a nice way.

Today I am wearing socks with parachuting sheep on them, some cotton trousers I got from the charity shop pound rail, because all my jeans are in the wash, a long-sleeved cotton T-shirt (because it's winter - in summer, I sometimes wear a short-sleeved one instead), and a TARDIS hoodie (a window on each boob). So, apart from the thin cotton trousers, exactly the same as I always wear (except that only one of my pairs of socks has parachuting sheep, though I do have a thing for socks with sheep on them, and that most of my hoodies don't have tardes on them).

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/11/2016 15:33

Hello everyone. I'm back. The dc are starting to get better now.
I made mince pies. I don't like mince pies. Anyone want one?

Oh and I've lost 10lb!

BigDamnHero · 19/11/2016 15:34

Hi, all.

We took the boys to an urban farm today. It was really good (I do love animals and the cafe had a cat meandering around who jumped onto my lap for a cuddle) but we're all very tired/overloaded now.

There was a little animal show with some of their less conventional 'farm' animals they have (like stick insects and snakes) and one of the animals for holding was a rat, Rat. It tried to run into DH's pocket. Grin

autisticrat · 19/11/2016 15:34

Well done HRF, on all counts!

And yes, I would very much like a mince pie. Thank you.

autisticrat · 19/11/2016 15:35

Rats love pockets Grin
