Woman in the UK? Take our survey - vouchers to be won

We at MNHQ want to find out a bit more about how women are making decisions about taking HRT. We know that people can take HRT for a few different reasons, but the main one is the menopause and perimenopause (which is the time of transition into the menopause and can last for several years before your periods come to an end).

However if you’re taking HRT for any other reason, or might be thinking about it soon, we want to hear about your experiences and thoughts too. This survey is open to all women in the UK, Mumsnet and Gransnet.

All who complete the survey will receive an entry into our monthly prize draw where 3 Mumsnet or Gransnet users will win a £150 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Click here to take the survey.

Thanks and good luck!

What is the point of this set of answers? If you want to gather information about respondents' gender identity then this question should be split in two: first sex female/male and separately gender identity. Restricting this question to single answers such as non binary or gender variant without knowing the sex of your respondent renders the data meaningless, as males use and respond to female hormone treatment differently to females. And if gender identity is relevant, it also ignores data from females who consider themselves non-binary or GNC.

It seems that all of the last 4 answers in that list amount to 'I'm not telling you my sex'.

You'd think that a survey aimed at women would be for females, anyway. Hmm

I think there were more questions about identity than there were about the menopause, and everyone knows damn well what sex menopausal women are. Stop being so pathetic.

I agree. Why can't I select more than one answer? I could be female (sex) and non binary (gender) and non conforming (to sex stereotypes).

What a crock of shit that is. Women can't even have the menopause to themselves now.

Well that was an in depth set of question.

Why is the thread titled "Woman in the UK" if you're not actually aiming the survey at women?

Only women experience the menopause. Disappointed MNHQ.

It would have been great if the survey was set up so that should anyone tick anything other than ‘female’ it showed a ‘This is about the menopause, you are not eligible to respond’

You know the way surveys do if they are looking for responses from parents of primary age children but you tick 11yrs or over, or homeowners but you tick renter.

The clue should be in the survey name but other surveys have a “This survey is not aimed at you” message. Or simply doesn’t include optional categories for people for whom the survey is not intended at all.

I also thought the ‘identity’ options nearly outweighed the questions on the actual subject too, it didn’t seem to go into any detail enough to get any substantial information.

It might have been better to have had the wide range of options at identity moved to the age bit - so ages when starting symptoms of peri/meno/HRT if taking - better range of info on actual meno related stuff as opposed to men identity bs.

Menopause.

I can see where the confusion arose... Hmm

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 22/05/2021 17:52

But what if they choose to skip past girl mode and go into menopause mode groundcontrol?

All that lovely weight gain, incontinence, adult acne, hair loss, night sweats and restless legs to look forward to?

You can see the attraction surely?

I couldn’t wait for that myself... I had it early for shits and giggles.

Agreed, those identity questions were out of place

What strange survey questions,

Almost none related to how women make decisions on whether or not to take HRT, which was, after all, the point of the survey. Allegedly.

I abandoned this survey part way through.

I agree with JellySlice. I will no longer be answering any surveys with such confused and muddled questions. And as you put this nonsense at the end of the survey, I won't be doing any MN surveys until you confirm you know the importance of biological sex, and how it differs from gender, & you structure questions properly.

Correction: "I agree with JellySlice and all the other women objecting on this thread".

Your target market is getting mighty fed up with all this ridiculous nonsense MN.

Maybe the survey aims to find out whether men get easier access to the HRT that menopausal women actually need.

Report
borntobequiet · 23/05/2021 09:21

That’s one of the most useless and poorly designed surveys I’ve seen.
