Woman in the UK? Take our survey - vouchers to be won

JustineBMumsnet · 20/05/2021 17:38

We at MNHQ want to find out a bit more about how women are making decisions about taking HRT. We know that people can take HRT for a few different reasons, but the main one is the menopause and perimenopause (which is the time of transition into the menopause and can last for several years before your periods come to an end).

However if you’re taking HRT for any other reason, or might be thinking about it soon, we want to hear about your experiences and thoughts too. This survey is open to all women in the UK, Mumsnet and Gransnet.

All who complete the survey will receive an entry into our monthly prize draw where 3 Mumsnet or Gransnet users will win a £150 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Click here to take the survey.

Thanks and good luck!

@JackieWeaversZoomAc

I agree with JellySlice. I will no longer be answering any surveys with such confused and muddled questions. And as you put this nonsense at the end of the survey, I won't be doing any MN surveys until you confirm you know the importance of biological sex, and how it differs from gender, & you structure questions properly.

I have been pointing this nonsense out for years, and have also stopped doing MNHQ surveys as a result. I did this one because it was so clearly female-specific. Very disappointed at the end.

By all means collect gender id information. But do so properly! Do it in s way that generates meaningful data.

Hormone replacement therapy is I believe to counter balance the ravages to a woman’s body during the menopause.

The significant word is replacement.

Not hormone therapy designed to alter. Replacement for that which has depleted whether it be by menopause or illness.

Replacement.

Another one who started the survey, thought some of the questions were quite bizarre, then got to the entirely irrelevant section asking about gender. So I stopped. The survey is for women, MNHQ make that very clear at the top of this page. So why on earth would you be offering options for men or trans women? let alone all the gender fluid bollocks I hope people refuse to complete this survey which panders to such nonsense.

Oh and FYI, Mumsnet, I need Hormone Replacement Therapy to replace the oestrogen lost after I had surgery to remove my ovaries. Is that clear enough?

And yes, it has been an absolute bastard to try and get hold of it a lot of time, either because pharmacies don't have any or GPs dick about with prescriptions contrary to NICE guidelines.

But I'm still not completing this survey as it is currently written.

Absolute nonsense MNHQ - another woman who won’t complete your survey when you pretend that anyone other than women experience periods, pregnancy, childbirth and menopause.

Seems more of a demographic data capture than an HRT survey. I abandoned it when after a few questions it moved off topic onto the age of my children, family income etc etc

Not even that, when it does not capture three demographic dates accurately or in an analysable fashion.

Are you trying to find out how many male people are taking cross-sex hormones and calling it 'HRT'?

Absolutely!

Makes as much sense as the survey, anyway.

My suspicions were raised when they said in the intro 'we know women can take HRT for a few different reasons' (I'm aware they can, but all coming under replacement) and the comments confirmed that the survey seems mostly for other people

Will you be sharing the results? I for one would be interested to know if the average age for a male reaching menopause is still never Hmm

I knew from the title that 'woman' would encompass everybody and their dog.
I don't identify as perimenopausal. I am. What an insult to adult human females this is.

Firstly - what pointless questions, seriously badly worded & surely the answers will tell you absolutely fuck all except how much we all earn and where we live. What a waste of time.

Also, I’d love to know the results from the men who took this of average age they go though the menopause 🤔 or how many men today are also having such massive issues with their fucked up peri-meno wombs that they can’t go more than 20 minutes without changing double sanpro and have clots the size of their fingers dropping out of them whilst they’re half blinded with pain and weakened by anemia? How many pairs of jeans have they ruined this week & how was the week before for them when they presumably also felt so stabby that they kept themselves out of public for the sake of the public? (the answer is zero btw, because they’re men & men don’t have the wombs....it’s about as relevant as me answering a survey about ‘how hairy are your balls’ or ‘how often do you check for signs of prostate cancer’).

What an utter woke PC bag of shit MNHQ. I don’t give a flying monkeys about who identifies as what, each to their own - but literally the only people who go through the menopause are women, who have ovaries, wombs and periods and it’s absolutely fucking horrendous so pretending people who don’t could respond to a survey (or want to!?) about something they’ll never actually experience (& lucky them) is insulting tbh.

Just 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄.

Very few questions about the actual menopause or hrt - far too many intrusive and demographic and financial questions - why do you need so much detail about income, occupation, number of children - how on Earth is this relevant?
Bloody ridiculous.

Why is the thread titled "Woman in the UK" if you're not actually aiming the survey at women?

I wondered this too ?

But given the horrendously inadequate care most women get for menopause symptoms, surely income etc. is relevant? If you're not in the tiny minority that can afford private care you're most probably a facing a postcode lottery.

The demography questions are standard at the end of MN surveys. And they could be relevant in analysing the data. For example, does the age of a woman's children affect her experience of menopause, and the treatment choices she makes? Or her perceptions and beliefs regarding her femininity before/during/after menopause - do they affect her experiences and choices?

But, again, the data gathered needs to be meaningful to learn anything from it.

Well quite.

This survey appeared to be missing a few pages and no one seems to give a hoot about our feelings about this. We've been had and the silence is deafening.
