Do you drink gin? We’d like to understand how and when you drink it, what you think about gin, and what you’d like to see in a newly developed gin. Gin

This survey is open to all UK Mumsnet users who drink gin.

All who complete the survey will receive an entry into our monthly prize draw where 3 Mumsnet users will win a £150 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Ah come on it'd be a bit of fun
I'd either buy it or guaranteed someone would buy it for me as a novelty gift. Lots of people know I like gin and I like Mumsnet
My suggestions for a range of different flavours
AIBU
LTB
STBXH (rather bitter)

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 20/04/2021 23:09

I like Naice Gin and Vipers too

mumulala · 20/04/2021 23:24

You can't call it mothers ruin - there is a small distillery near to me already using that brand name

Pieceofpurplesky · 20/04/2021 23:31

Balonz

fairydustandpixies · 21/04/2021 06:58

Bah! Wish I'd read the comments first - I put Mother's Ruin as well!

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 21/04/2021 07:28

The packaging could have the mumsnet gin emoji on it.

Bluntness100 · 21/04/2021 07:32

The thing is you’ve a massive target market here, and all you need to say is we developed this gin with x and it’s x to tap into that market,

Calling it something related to the site though would turn it into a novelty item, just as it would if it was related to face book, or trip advisor, for repeat purchases it needs to be something that’s basically not tacky,. So there could be lots of good names that are linked but not immediately identifiable, for example “Justines Juniper” or “Viper Valley” Or whatever..

A brand entitled mothers ruin or aibu would turn it into a novelty item for me.

motherstongue · 21/04/2021 08:21

I really dislike this idea. It’s in poor taste (excuse the pun) and completely naff.

sashh · 21/04/2021 08:32

There needs to be a selection with different names, in addition to those above

Cancel the cheque
Balonz
T-Rex
Elderly Korean Lady
Classics

MrsMackesy · 21/04/2021 09:54

Naice Vipers

PPs saying they 'wouldn't offer MN gin to guests' - you share your gin? Baffling. As the late, great Paul Ritter said in fantastic fatherly style in FND, 'Don't waste your mother's gin. It's for when she's depressed.'

ButterflyOfFreedom · 21/04/2021 11:21

I've done the survey but really don't 'get' the MN gin idea. Just don't see the connection, sorry!

jenesaisqu0i · 21/04/2021 11:27

My name suggestion was Snap and Fart. GinGrin

24GinDrinkingOnceTheKidsInBed · 21/04/2021 12:05

Am I drinking gin?

The fact you have to ask makes me laugh!

Bluntness100 · 21/04/2021 12:11

I'd either buy it or guaranteed someone would buy it for me as a novelty gift

And that nails it, calling it mumsnet gin makes it a novelty. For making it a serious proposition it needs to be named something else. Something people will be happy to pick up whenhaving guests over, or whenever.

It’s like if mark zuckerburg decided to go into gin, calling it Facebook gin would be a mistake he’d be unlikely to make. They don’t even call their other products anything to do with Facebook, it’s WhatsApp, Instagram etc.

The demographic is here for gin, the platform to sell it, but the branding is important.

For the record I’d also not buy anything called mothers ruin unless for a joke.

sonicshoegazes · 21/04/2021 13:37

All done...I'd be interested to see with what angle the gin would take. Will it be flavoured?

I'd definitely try it.

MeOldBamboo · 21/04/2021 13:45

Done

tassiesha · 21/04/2021 16:18

Sometimes I have a gin and tonic or two at the bar, but this is rare.

MumW · 21/04/2021 16:51

@FreezerBird

@ImNotThatPathetic

Why would Mumsnet a website market to (but not exclusively for), mothers, make a product that is traditionally known as Mother's Ruin?

That's was my suggested name for a Mumsnet gin....

Mine too. Gin🍸🤣

Bluntness100 · 21/04/2021 17:21

There’s a gin called mothers ruin already.

GrandDuchessRomanov · 21/04/2021 17:45

@FreezerBird And mine!

GrandDuchessRomanov · 21/04/2021 17:46

What about Sistine Chapel Gin or does the Pope have the dibs on that?

Eminybob · 21/04/2021 17:48

I am definitely interested in being on the tasting panel!!

colouringindoors · 21/04/2021 18:18

It can only be

LTB

Cleverpolly3 · 21/04/2021 18:55

Mine was Ducks in a Row

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 21/04/2021 19:35

@YesIDoLoveCrisps

The packaging could have the mumsnet gin emoji on it.
Gordon's would probably have a bit of a problem with that.
