Do you have a dog or a cat and want to test one of the Dyson Animal vacuum cleaners? Ten volunteers needed!

We're looking for 10 families with cats or dogs at home to trial one of two vacuum cleaners from the Dyson Animal range - the DC19T2 - worth £250 and the DC25 - worth £311.
The project involves four stages, which would take place over about 6 weeks:

  1. This recruitment survey - once we have all the volunteers in, Dyson will choose the 10 testing families

  2. Testers will then be sent one machine to test - these can be kept by the testing family. When the machines are first received Dyson would like the tester to fill in and return to Dyson a usability survey.

  3. Testers would then need to send Dyson (in pre-addressed /pre-paid envelopes ) the dirt, fluff and fur that they collect weekly for up to six weeks. They would also like to know how frequently testers vacuum. (This is not at all judgy and will not be posted on Mumsnet, honest!! )

  4. Lastly, after the six weeks is up (probably early Oct), one of the insight team at Dyson would like to visit the tester to chat about their thoughts and experiences with the Dyson - this chat would last approximately 45 minutes.

In order to take part you need to have at least one cat or dog and live in the UK.

If you'd be interested in taking part and believe you can undertake all elements of the project, please sign up here

Good luck

Damn, is this one of those thread where whoever grovels and sucks up most gets picked? If so, I'm buggered, but I have completed the questionairre.

MrsWeasley · 24/08/2009 21:13

Oh I dont have a cat would a goldfish count?

Babieseverywhere · 24/08/2009 21:23

Completed. Fingers crossed we get a call

DesperateHousewifeToo · 24/08/2009 21:25

Hi Camilla,

Congratulations on your marriage. Did you have a fab day? Any little dysons running around yet?

You do all realise that you are all applying to have someone come and check you are keeping your crevices, nooks and crannies clean

They'll be talking about your slovenly ways back at Dyson HQ

Scary!

thesouthsbelle · 24/08/2009 21:42

am I too late, I have a german sheppard who malts all the time! and a staffy ho's mad as a hatter! and it's only a small 2 bed bungalow, we're vac'ing 3 times a day at the mo!

TrillianAstra · 24/08/2009 21:52

I don't have a dog or a cat but I do need one of those for my hair!

I shed

Dalrymps · 24/08/2009 21:53

Pick me, pick me!

stealthsquiggle · 24/08/2009 21:53

LOL at the competitive mess (and at the thought of the shedding goldfish) - if I "invite" a few sheep in from next door will it increase my chances? We have a chicken who insists she could/should be a house chicken as well... (LilRed shout if you need a spare sheep, I am sure I could get one in the car if I try hard enough )

We live in a nice place and it's only an hour or so from Dyson central and I bake and I sound really sad and desperate now, don't I

LittleMissNorty · 24/08/2009 21:54

Hope I'm not too late....one long haired cat, one black lab, 2 adults and 2 messy children.....I empty half a carrier bags worth of crap out of my hoover every day

fruitshootsandheaves · 24/08/2009 22:15

done it

would love to see if its as good as my miele.

agree with the envelope issue. Would have to be a really humungous envelope to even cope with one days worth of hair from my house, I have a lot of very hairy pets and a whole cupboard full of spacialist brushes and combs which don't seem to help.

Someone should breed a carpet coloured dog, or maybe a dog with a coat like a clothes brush so it collects it own hair

cupofteaplease · 24/08/2009 22:17

Entered- really could do with this vacuum as our dog loses SO much hair it's untrue!

stealthsquiggle · 24/08/2009 22:19

LOL at carpet coloured dog. A friend had golden retrievers for decades and it was only when they got a black and white dog that she realised that she had unconsciously acquired golden retriever coloured carpets, sofas, coats....

Klaw · 24/08/2009 22:54

I won't beg, I'm sure my form will stand out as providing the necessary information Dyson will need.

[keeps fingers crossed]

BettySwollux · 24/08/2009 23:07

Does it count if you're intending on buying a cat?

I'll have one by the time the trail starts .

perdu · 24/08/2009 23:17

Please can I test one?

We live on a farm and really need a vacuum cleaner that could cope with all the muck that comes in through our back door and a constantly moulting lab.

Thank you!!!

Oh me please! I have two very moulty cats AND I live in a rural very very dusty area. If I wasn't a slattern I would hooover twice a day!

seeker · 25/08/2009 05:21

And I live on a boat. I bet none of the other volunteers do!

tatt · 25/08/2009 08:14

I no longer have pets - but I do have problems with long haired children. Would Dyson please like to develop a cleaner that will remove adult hairs? And I'm sure we would give your vacuum a better test than a mere pet owner.

foofi · 25/08/2009 09:18

Don't have a dog or cat - maybe I will get one!

rusmum · 25/08/2009 09:22

i would be interested in this- i have a white cat who leaves a trail of white hair- also me and dd1 have long hair which seems to shed as much as the cat!! LOL

We live in Shefffield in an old 1920's house which seems to be soo dusty- I would like to be put forward. thanks

mrspink27 · 25/08/2009 09:28

I would love to be a tester - have 3 dogs and 2 cats who generate a mountain of dust and fluff every day!!!

BexieID · 25/08/2009 10:18

Darn, don't have any pets but could really do with a new Dyson as ours is almost ka-put .

SIL has one of those animal Dysons. They are good.

jemart · 25/08/2009 11:28

I'll do it - we have five long haired cats and three small children so oodles of dust fluff and crumbs to test it on.

fufflebum · 25/08/2009 12:52

I would love to take part. We have two cats one of whom has long hair. The long haired cat leaves clumps of hair everywhere on our lovely beige carpet so I have to hoover VERY regularly.

We also have two children and adults who share the house too. (One very hairy child who sheds hair everywhere!)

We have a Dyson already so I would be interested to see how the new Dyson animal range compare.

Please choose us!
