Do you have a dog or a cat and want to test one of the Dyson Animal vacuum cleaners? Ten volunteers needed!

carriemumsnet · 24/08/2009 16:43

We're looking for 10 families with cats or dogs at home to trial one of two vacuum cleaners from the Dyson Animal range - the DC19T2 - worth £250 and the DC25 - worth £311.
The project involves four stages, which would take place over about 6 weeks:

  1. This recruitment survey - once we have all the volunteers in, Dyson will choose the 10 testing families

  2. Testers will then be sent one machine to test - these can be kept by the testing family. When the machines are first received Dyson would like the tester to fill in and return to Dyson a usability survey.

  3. Testers would then need to send Dyson (in pre-addressed /pre-paid envelopes ) the dirt, fluff and fur that they collect weekly for up to six weeks. They would also like to know how frequently testers vacuum. (This is not at all judgy and will not be posted on Mumsnet, honest!! )

  4. Lastly, after the six weeks is up (probably early Oct), one of the insight team at Dyson would like to visit the tester to chat about their thoughts and experiences with the Dyson - this chat would last approximately 45 minutes.

In order to take part you need to have at least one cat or dog and live in the UK.

If you'd be interested in taking part and believe you can undertake all elements of the project, please sign up here

Good luck

DesperateHousewifeToo · 24/08/2009 19:00

Can I just skip to step 4 and have the visit from the person from Dyson?

When I visited their HQ last year, all the staff were gorgeous. I'd like the ''Dyson Airblade' inventor to pop in perleeeze. I'll make sure dh is out

Hello

Just to clarify re: where people live. We're trying to be a bit more un-locationalist...but still realistic for dyson people to get to you. SO this might rule out those on the Isle of Skye, but if we have reason to be in Scotland for other covert exercises, this might not rule out Scottish MNers (note careful use of 'might', I am trying not to get lynched).

So that we don't sound too scary, usability is simply for our engineers to know how easy you found it to put the machine together when it first arrives. Nothing more than that really.

Fur - self-explanatory and as gross as it seems!

Visitors...laughing at desperate housewife!! Yes, got married in June. Already consulting the 'am i being unreasonable' threads. Uh-oh.

Apologies to Carrie and MNHQ for being rubbish in getting this going. Lots of very exciting things going on here and I got distracted.

Shout if you have any more questions, will check in tomorrow AM. Going home now...had quite enough for a Monday!

Camilla (from Dyson).

I'm 8 miles from a major motorway in glorious countryside and I always have cake in the house - does that help my case (whomovedmychocolate in disguise btw).

TheDMshouldbeRivened · 24/08/2009 20:01

I have a bigger cake. And tea and coffee. And wine

Notalone · 24/08/2009 20:05

Me pretty please! I live in South Yorkshire near really good travel links. My DP used to be a chef and will cook up a feast in exchange for us being chosen We have just got a rescue border collie and are hoovering lots more than we used to - we could provide lots of lovely samples for you and we would sing the praises of Dyson to anyone who will listen. Also DP says that munsnet is destroying our PC and is on the verge of barring me from the site forever. This would put him in favour of mumsnet and would save my sanity!

mygoodmorning · 24/08/2009 20:11
