AnnMumsnet · 01/09/2008 17:40

A big thank you to all Mumsnetters who agreed to take part in the Imperial Leather Skinbliss product testing. We hope you enjoyed using it.

What we'd really value now is your feedback about the product. So.....

  • Did you love or hate it?
  • What you did like or dislike about it?
  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?
  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims [Skinbliss replenishes the natural oils in your skin, leaving it soft and moisturised. It contains an ultra-mild cleanser that's gentle enough for daily use. Its unique formula has 50% moisturising ingredients, proven to increase skin hydration, elasticity and stimulate natural skin lipid production?]?

If you've got any other comments (positive or negative) please include these in your post.

Or if you have any additional questions, post them here and we'll try and get a response.

Remember everyone who tests the product and provides feedback on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where 5 Mumsnetters will win a year's supply of Skinbliss.

Thanks again
MNHQ and Skinbliss

  • Did you love or hate it?

It was ok, more to love than hate.

  • What you did like or dislike about it?

I liked the smell of it, i also liked the fact it left my skin feeling soft & moisturised & rather silky, would prefer if it was more eco friendly.

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?

I would say it was good value for money, with the prices of the these days though can't say i would pay for it i would definatly buy if it was £2 or under.

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims

Yes it did but it didn't really last very long.

Thank you for letting me part of this

Nappyzoneneedssleep · 10/09/2008 21:18

I wouldnt use the word love ...... i like it though - my usual cheapo product lasts about 2 weeks and this still has loads left on account that it soaps up real easy......on a shop though i would probs still veeer towards cheapness but wold accept it as a free gift gratefully........ If it was just under £2 i would more likely buy.

I think a hook would help it be more shower friendly and also as the one i got was in a white bottle it was very similar looking to my shampoo so on 2 early morning occasions now i have picked it up in error and washed my hair with it

  • Did you love or hate it?

I recommended it to my Mother but only because it was on offer at £1.20. I liked it but would not seek it out specially tbh.

  • What you did like or dislike about it?

The packaging was discreet in my bathroom, I purposefully choose muted tones to contrast with my black colourscheme. The smell was a bit overpowering although I had a niff of the two other ones and they seemed a bit less potent. It needed a hook imo.

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?

I would not be interested in the product for this price. It would have to be below £2 or on offer.

I have very dry skin and although my skin was much improved compared to using soap, I still needed to moisturise heavily afterwards as well.

Thanks very much for the bottle though

  • Did you love or hate it?
I quite liked it! Which suprised me a little as I hate the packaging (sorry - all I can see is a stylised bunny on the label. It's probably just me)

  • What you did like or dislike about it?
I don't particularly like the scent when I'm using it, but it's quite delicate afterwards. I also like the way it foams up so generously

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?
I would be unlikely to buy it at this level, but would as a BOGOF

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims
My skin did feel much softer after using it.

I paid for mine a week before your request for a tester.

AnnMumsnet · 15/09/2008 09:51

Tested mine and thought it was lovely. Fragrance fine (cocoon one for me) and I think the price is ok (saw it on special offer in tescos too!)

  • Did you love or hate it?
Not keen on the colour of the bottle looked very 'flesh toned' bit old lady like.

  • What you did like or dislike about it?
Personally found the smell too sickly sweet for my tastes and very overpowering - I would prefer something a bit more zingy in the shower to wake me up.

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?
I would certainly pay £2.48 for a shower gel, just not this one because of the smell.

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims

As I haven't used it that much because of the smell I don't know if it lived up to it's claims - it did lather nicely.

FreckleFreak · 16/09/2008 22:04
  • Did you love or hate it?

Neither. I liked it.

  • What you did like or dislike about it?

I really disliked the perfume, far too cloying and grannyish for me (I had the pink one, Renew) and found it quite strong and overpowering because of that. I would definitely be interested in trying the product in a different perfume variant. I am a big fan of scents and like to sniff all the different perfume variants of a product before deciding which one to buy. I'm less likely to buy a product if I don't find a fragrance that I like.

The product spread well over my skin during use, like a lotion. It didn't glob in a jelly-like lump like some shower gels so not much effort needed to get lather going. Lather was quite abundant and creamy when used with a shower puff (though still not as good as Imperial Leather's Foam Burst, which is the ultimate in rich, creamy lather, in my opinion). Product rinsed easily off skin and left good level of fragrance on skin after drying. Skin felt soft and didn't feel the need to apply body lotion afterwards however I would be interested to see how well this product moisturises in the height of winter as this is when I'm more likely to see dry skin on my legs. For me that would tell me how well this product truly works.

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?

I think if I really loved the product I would be more inclined to pay £2.48 for it. As I only liked the product I would buy it if it was on offer and there was a fragrance that I liked.

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims [Skinbliss replenishes the natural oils in your skin, leaving it soft and moisturised. I definitely found it gentle enough for daily use and my skin did feel soft afterwards but then I generally find my skin to be soft straight after showering anyway. Think I would have to see what I think of it during the winter months to see if it lives up to its claims or not. This time of year with application of suncreams and fake tan lotions etc it's hard to say for sure. For now I'm undecided on the moisturisation claims! TBD!

Thank you for including me in your panel, I did enjoy using the product despite the bad perfume

NorbertDentressangle · 18/09/2008 09:24

AnnMumsnet -just out of interest do we get any feedback from Imperial Leather?

I was thinking along the lines of what they feel about our comments, particularly as the majority who tried the Renew one (and possibly another?) found the smell quite overpowering and/or old-ladyish.

It would be interesting to hear from them their rationale behind the perfumes, the packaging etc, who they were aiming the product at and whther or not our feedback will have any influence on this, or future products.

I loved taking part and would quite like to hear their views about our opinions (although I appreciate that I am a very small fish in a very big pond )

carriemumsnet · 18/09/2008 17:21

Thought it was time MNHQ tried this!... so here goes

  • Did you love or hate it?

I like the fact that it speeded up my life

  • What you did like or dislike about it?
I thought the smell (I had the shea butter one) was a bit strong when you sniffed it from the bottle, but actually wasn't too bad once you were using it in the shower.

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?

I think it's good value, given that you don't need to use moisturiser, or at least as much moisturiser afterwards

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims

I am a veritable crocodile skin and found that I could get away without body lotion - which for someone who is always always always in a mad rush was a huge bonus.

I would love to have seen it in more luxy tasteful packaging - wasn't really an asset to the bathroom decor, but overall a good product at a good price.

AnnMumsnet · 18/09/2008 18:24

Norbert, I'm hoping to get a response to you from Imperial Leather!

Renew with exotic Monoi oil

  • Did you love or hate it?
I really loved it, I found it pleasant to use and while it smelt strongly while putting it on it only left a lingering scent afterwards which was fine as I tend to shower of an evening. If it was for a morning might have been more of a problem as dont think it would have mixed well with normal perfume

  • What you did like or dislike about it?
Loved the smell but really liked the thickness of it and also how moisturising it is. I suffer from dry skin but since using the skin bliss shower gel those dry patches have gone.

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?
definetly good value for money considering the results I personally obtained

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims [Skinbliss replenishes the natural oils in your skin, leaving it soft and moisturised. Yes it has worked for me especially on dry skin at tops of my arms and on me knees/legs still has a long way to go to repair my very dry heels though

Washersaurus · 23/09/2008 21:42

Have had responses to your questions asked on this thread from Imperial Leather - here they are:

Q. Some of the perfume scents are quite strong and some aren?t as modern as others. Why is that? The majority who tried Renew found the smell quite overpowering and/or old-ladyish

A. Just as every woman is different and individual, so too is Skinbliss. We?ve created a different scent for each product in the range ? so you can discover whether you?re a Cocoon, Renew or Glow kinda girl. The best thing to do is try them all until you find the fragrance that suits you!

Q. What is Imperial Leather's rationale behind the perfumes, the packaging and who are they aiming the product at?

A. All our new products are developed using a combination of consumer testing and focus groups with our key target audience, and the approach with Skinbliss is no different. The initial product line includes three scents that have been developed to be completely different to one another, so there?s bound to be a fragrance you like.

Skinbliss has been given its own unique packaging in order to highlight the fact that the product is different to other body washes. It has been developed to be both attractive and tactile but also clean and easy to use with wet hands.

The range is aimed at a core target of 25-50 year olds who enjoy their beauty routine and want their products to work hard but not cost the earth. By making the product significantly less irritating to sensitive skin than most shower products, the range is also targeting anyone whose skin needs that little extra TLC.

Q. Will the Mumsnet feedback have any influence on Skinbliss or future products?

A. We welcome all feedback received, especially on a new product, as it is constantly evolving. The future for Skinbliss is bright because we?ve discovered an innovative technology that ultimately benefits and improves the skin and can be delivered in a body wash formula. There?ll be plenty of opportunities for feedback to be considered with any new product we are trialling.
