Skinbliss Product Test - Feedback

AnnMumsnet · 01/09/2008 17:40

A big thank you to all Mumsnetters who agreed to take part in the Imperial Leather Skinbliss product testing. We hope you enjoyed using it.

What we'd really value now is your feedback about the product. So.....

  • Did you love or hate it?
  • What you did like or dislike about it?
  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?
  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims [Skinbliss replenishes the natural oils in your skin, leaving it soft and moisturised. It contains an ultra-mild cleanser that's gentle enough for daily use. Its unique formula has 50% moisturising ingredients, proven to increase skin hydration, elasticity and stimulate natural skin lipid production?]?

If you've got any other comments (positive or negative) please include these in your post.

Or if you have any additional questions, post them here and we'll try and get a response.

Remember everyone who tests the product and provides feedback on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where 5 Mumsnetters will win a year's supply of Skinbliss.

Thanks again
MNHQ and Skinbliss

Ooh I want to try the cocoa butter one now too . It sounds nicer than the pink one.

geordieminx · 02/09/2008 15:08
  • Did you love or hate it?

I wouldnt say I loved it or hated it to be honest. - It was nice, not something that I would go out of my way to buy again/recommend to a friend

  • What you did like or dislike about it?

It did what it claimed, in that it did make my skin softer which in this weather is a bonus.

I think the smell was very over-powering and slightly "old-ladyish". I tend to go for citrusy fresh scents when looking for a shower gel. The packaging is a disaster - firstly it needs a hook on it like most other shower gels, thus enabling it to be hung up, not constantly getting knocked over or played with by little people as it sits on the side of the bath. I thought that the pale pink colour wasnt particulary eye-catching, and again rather old-fasioned. It certainly wouldnt stand out on a supermarket shelf.

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?

If I absolutely loved it then I wouldnt mind paying this much for it, although I tend to buy which ever brand is on offer at the time.

Yes, my skin felt a lot softer after only a few days 10/10 on this!

If you've got any other comments (positive or negative) please include these in your post.

mollythetortoise · 02/09/2008 15:16

love or hate? It was ok, I quite liked it but not that much.
I liked the creaminess but didn't think it lathered that well.
I would prob only buy if under £2 or if BOGOF
My skin felt nice afterwards. I really not sure if it is any different from similarly priced shower gels. I prefer the sound of the cocoa butter one as I really like the smell of cocoa butter.

Thanks for letting me take part though , it was fun. My daughter joined in too. She liked the pink bottle. She is five.

Dottydot · 02/09/2008 16:42

Hi - thanks for sending mine through - very exciting!

I had the pinky bottle and I like it a lot - I've been using it every day since I got it and to be honest will miss it when it's all gone.

The only thing I dislike about it is that the fragrance is quite overpowering when you first use it - although I used it on ds's one bathtime and they smelled amazing the next day! So I think once on it's lovely - but just quite strong when you're lathering it up.

It lathers really well - I use it with a puffy thing.

It does feel soft on the body and I've used it on my face.

No, I wouldn't spend £2.48 on it, even though I really like it, as that's more than I'd pay for other shower products. I'd look out for it in special offers though!

wonderstuff · 02/09/2008 16:45

I have the brown one and it is lovely
Thanks for the freebie, isn't it sad that so many of us are getting excited about our own bottle of shower lotion! But smell was gorgeous. Moisturised well. £2.48 sounds fairly reasonable to me, but like others a bit pricey for my buget but would stock up if on offer or as a treat when I had enough boots points

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 16:45

Thanks MN for letting me do this trial (I was also giddy to receive it, as Inever win anything either...this was a much better "win" than the listerine that I missed out on).

I had a white bottle (well maybe a little pink tinge to it, but wouldn't say it was pink), so it looks like there are other fragrances out there to try.

  • Did you love or hate it?

I really liked it; wouldn't go so far as to say it was love though.

  • What you did like or dislike about it?

I liked the smell (even though on first sniff it is a bit on the overpowering strong side), the texture of it (nice and creamy and luxurious feeling) and the way it lathered up nicely using a scrunchie. It was great for shaving as others have mentioned.

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?

Maybe a little pricey, but probably comparable to other "luxury" shower gels that are on the market. Not sure I would buy it though; maybe if it was on bogof or three for two offer (especially if there are 3 fragrances ). The packaging was nothing special though and I'd expect a "luxury" product to have much nicer packaging.

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims [Skinbliss replenishes the natural oils in your skin, leaving it soft and moisturised. I found that after one wash my skin felt lovely and soft and gently perfumed. After three or four days using it I noticed a definate improvement in the areas iof my skin that are generally quite dry, especially my elbows and knees. I was a bit wary of it, given how highly perfumed it is, as I have pretty sensitive skin but it hasn't caused me any discernible problems so far.

Thanks again

  • Did you love or hate it?

Neither - it was OK.

  • What you did like or dislike about it?

I liked the texture.

I disliked packaging. (I thought it was slightly old ladyish. (Of course I'm very young and hip and trendy) Id' be a bit snobish about having it in my bathroom if guest were comming I'm undecided about the fragrace. It lingered nicely, though.

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?

Goood value, but I certainly wouldn't pay any more.

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims

It didn't make any difference to my skin, but then I usually use products that moisturise any way. It didn't do anythong horrid to my skin, though, which is good as I can be a bit sensitive.

TBH, I would probably buy it if it was on special offer, but not other wise.

funnypeculiar · 02/09/2008 17:11

I'm all grumpy about not getting the cocoa butter one now

forkhandles · 02/09/2008 17:13

*Did you love or hate it?
I liked it

  • What you did like or dislike about it?
I really liked the smell and the lather was good. I liked having something that was just mine too!

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?
I don't think that's particularly good value for money, I would buy it again if it was on offer

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims [Skinbliss replenishes the natural oils in your skin, leaving it soft and moisturised. It was gentle enough for daily use and certainly didn't dry my skin out, but not sure if it actively moisturised it.

Thanks for sending it too me

peppamum · 02/09/2008 17:17
  • Did you love or hate it?

I liked it a lot

  • What you did like or dislike about it?

I had the brown bottle and I thought the smell was very nice although stronger than I'm used to. It had a good 'feel' to it too.

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?

It's reasonable for what seems like a good quality product but I doubt I would pay that much. The packaging looks a bit cheap, although £2.48 isn't the most expensive price you could pay

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims [Skinbliss replenishes the natural oils in your skin, leaving it soft and moisturised. On the whole, yes. I have very dry skin on my legs so I generally use a moisturiser, but I skipped it a few times after using Skinbliss and they weren't too dry. I wouldn't use it without moisturiser long term though.

Tortington · 02/09/2008 18:00

Did you love or hate it?
loved, loved, loved it

  • What you did like or dislike about it? i loved the texture, i loved the fact that it didn't 'over' bubble, i loved the fact that it smelled divine - like incense - OMG DIVINE - usually one gets lemony, zesty - some wake me up shock tactic with ZING< ZING< ZING! well some people might like a shower of an evening (me) and i dont want to be woken up with a zesty lemon slap on mi fanj - i much rather be seduced by an aroma of incence - with the feel of a moisturister. - it really helps to add to the experience - especially when you leave the shower light on and turn the bathroom light off - dim light, cheesy music over the radio ahhhhh
  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money? considering - it would seem like good value for money no? well - it is.............kinda - you have to appreciate that luxury shower gel is so far down the bottom of the list - it doesn't really make much of an appearance ( lets face it an extra squirt of shampoo does the job)

i am afraid that although the experience and produce is divine and wonderful, that i just couldn't spend £2.50 on shower gel when my 'DOve' quality shampoo is a BOGOFF for two at the same price - and if that changes - i will change brand - although it doesn't often change

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims [Skinbliss replenishes the natural oils in your skin, leaving it soft and moisturised. erm...didn't notice anything in particular - it felt and smelled nice

If you've got any other comments (positive or negative) please include these in your post.

really loved the product over all.

thank you for chosing me to participate - i just moved house and got a shower for the first time ever - and i do love love love the product.

might buy it in secret - or i might buy it on a non shopping day - then it doesn't directly add to the shopping bill

leander · 02/09/2008 18:26
  • Did you love or hate it?
    I really really liked it.

  • What you did like or dislike about it?
The smell was gorgeous, i had the white bottle (cocoon).I used it with a puffy thing and it had just the right ammount of lather, the scent lingered which was perfect if you dont use perfume everyday(i don't).
The packaging was a bit boring and could do with a hook on.

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?
A bit more than i normally spend on a shower creme but would definately buy if under £2 or on a special offer.

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims [Skinbliss replenishes the natural oils in your skin, leaving it soft and moisturised. It did leave my skin incredibably soft and didn't dry it out or irritate it.

Thanks for choosing me to test out this product.

JellySnakes · 02/09/2008 18:26

I am going to go and buy the cocoa butter one as I love that smell, and I got the one in the pink packaging that was very overpowering!

Miaou · 02/09/2008 18:27
  • Did you love or hate it?
I would say I really like it, love is a bit strong for a product

  • What you did like or dislike about it?
I like the packaging, it looks classy. Pink is such an easy colour to get wrong but I thought the shade was nice - a calming, sophisticated colour. It looks nice nestling amongst all the crud other products on the side of the bath.
I wasn't sure about the fragrance at first, though I realised that envelope it came in stank of Imperial Leather (which I hate); once that was safely deposited in the outside bin I decided I really liked the fragrance! It's sophisticated and subtle enough for me. I don't wear fragrance but I think that even if I did then this wouldn't interfere with it. I used a bath puff thingy to put it on and it lathered nicely (more creamy than bubbly) which I liked. I don't think I got the fragrance in the same way as you would in a shower (ie I think you would smell it more in a shower cubicle for example), but I don't have one ( custardo)!

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?
Um - difficult to say. I get the cheapest shower gel there is from Lidls or Tesco, so maybe I'm not really the target market . However, if I was on a good income and could afford to spend £2.50 on a shower gel then I would happily buy this one again.

  • Did you find the product lived up to its claims [Skinbliss replenishes the natural oils in your skin, leaving it soft and moisturised. Well, compared to the stuff I normally used, my skin certainly felt more "moisturised" and softer than before. I have no idea about the rest of it - that kind of faux-sciencey stuff switches me off.

Overall, I liked it, and enjoyed taking part in the trial

mistressmiggins · 02/09/2008 19:43

I agree with the MNetter who said how great it was to get a full size tester.

  • Did you love or hate it?
I had the pink one and I loved it.

  • What you did like or dislike about it?
I loved the creaminess although it said you needed one of the mit things which I dont have. I did find the smell quite strong so not sure I would use it if I was going to put perfume on as it would fight with the fragrance of the body wash

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?
Sounds on a par with other body washes but I might use it less than daily & more of a treat.

I found it defintitely made my skin soft but not sure about increased skin hydration etc

I really enjoyed the trial though & will look out for the other fragrances.

  • Did you love or hate it?

I loved it,the bottle was just the right shape and the contents were fab!

  • What you did like or dislike about it?

the scent was lovely quite strong initially but very nice.

  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money?

its the top end of what i would like to pay fo a shower gel but a little goes a long way so it would be worth it.

it made my skin partculaly my underarms elbows and knees feel much less dry.

ill certainly be watching for it in my supermarket, thanks for letting me try it [happy]

Flier · 03/09/2008 07:47

I entered for it but didn't get one hope mine didn't go missing in the post...............

NorbertDentressangle · 03/09/2008 09:35

aah, so we've established that there are different fragrances.

Just to clarify then mine was in a pale dusky pink bottle and was called Renew with exotic Monoi oil.

( I wrote : "I didn't like the fragrance -it was too sickly and over-powering (TBH it reminded me of a late 80s/early 90s perfume when it was fashionable for them to be "exotic" and intense eg. Poison). As it was so fragranced it was difficult to wear perfume after showering.")

I prefer the sound of the Cocoa Butter one.

LackaDAISYcal · 03/09/2008 09:39

Mine is definately a very pale white with a hint of pink coloured bottle and is called Cocoon.

I did wonder when people were saying it reminded them of Obsession perfume as mine was nothing like that

hippipotami · 03/09/2008 10:20

There are different 'flavours'?? Well that is a bit daft, because when we give our feedback {I like the smell} how will they know which one we like??? Unless they kept a list of which MNer was sent which fragrance and will crosscheck later??

Mine was a pale pink bottle and it reminded me of Poison perfume. But as I don't wear perfume it was fab to be fragranced just from this.
But cocoa butter sounds nice tooo......

AnnMumsnet · 03/09/2008 10:26

Thanks all
Those who didn;t get one but had the email, please can you email [email protected] with your address and name so we can look into this?

*Did you love or hate it?
I certainly didn't hate it but love is a bit too strong, I definately liked it.

  • What you did like or dislike about it? The smell and it did make my skin feel softer than usual and my legs weren't flaky like they can be. Although I liked the smell I would prefer unscented as quite a stong smell and as I wear perfume every day I wouldn't want the smells to conflict.
  • Skin Bliss would usually sell for around £2.48. Do you think this sounds like good or poor value for money? Good value for money I would buy if unscented

Definately left skin soft and moisturised but as for elasticity and skin lipid production I've no idea.
