This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users who have been testing LiquidNano’s SteriWipes, antibacterial wipes powered through nanotechnology leaving surfaces protected against 181 bacteria and viruses for 7 days from just one application.

Here’s what LiquidNano has to say: “LiquidNano is a smart coatings business with existing products for the mobile, marine, automotive and textile sectors. We are about to launch a new product called SteriWipe which is aimed at protecting high touch household surfaces like: door handles, children's toys, mobiles, tablets, high chairs, game controllers, etc. Once a surface is protected with SteriWipe an invisible layer of LiquidNano is left on the surface which not only kills any existing pathogens but will continue to kill any new pathogens that come into contact with the surface for a further 7 days without the need to re apply.”

You can find out more about SteriWipes here.

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the following questions, as well as completing the short survey we’ve sent you.

  1. Which items or surfaces did you use LiquidNano’s SteriWipes on? Which did you find the wipes most useful for?
  2. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?
  3. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind?
  4. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

  1. Which items or surfaces did you use LiquidNano’s SteriWipes on?

Which did you find the wipes most useful for?

I used them on my personal mobile phone, tablet and keys. In my work environment I used them on my keyboard, monitor and doorhandle.

I found them most useful for my mobile and tablet

  1. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?

I liked them but would have preferred them to be a bit bigger.

  1. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind?

It did. I work in a school and was previously shielding so am understandably anxious. It reassured me that I'm taking all the precautions I do feel a bit guilty about the environmental impact though.
  1. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?

Yes and yes, have already spoken to family and school pupils about them.

  1. Which items or surfaces did you use LiquidNano’s SteriWipes on?

Tables, door handles, computer keyboard (lightly), tv remote, taps, all sorts.

Which did you find the wipes most useful for?
Good for little items - but really usable on anything.

  1. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?

Really really liked them. Loved feeling cofident about them working well. Took them to my elderly DM and wiped around and felt really so much better for her situation. Easy to use, maximal benefit.

  1. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind?

It really did. I am paranoid about cleaning, but great at it, as DP would attest. These made even cack-handed me feel like I was making a difference and protecting everyone Really good.

  1. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?

Yes and yes. Expensive - but I would use them in particular situations - with my old DM, and whenn DCs come back from school - in the areas where they put their grubby hands most.

  1. I used the wipes on our phones, tablets and my laptop keyboard. I’d also use them on the doorknobs, kettle handle, and switches in the house.
  2. I know they’re for phones but they were SO TINY, wondered if they do larger wipes and how much they’d cost.
  3. I felt a lot easier being out shopping and touching my phone, and didn’t feel I had to constantly wipe DS’s tablet.
  4. I don’t know if I’d buy those tiny wipes - if there are larger ones

I’d be very interested, but I have a feeling they’d be too expensive for me!

Which items or surfaces did you use LiquidNano’s SteriWipes on? Which did you find the wipes most useful for?
All the mobiles and tablets in the house, door handles and keys. They were most useful for mobiles, I felt better about using them knowing they were safe.

  1. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?

I loved the idea of being protected for 7 days, especially with mobiles and keys that you have to use while out and about, and my son uses his mobile in school and I’ve been conscious of him putting it down, then in his bag /pocket etc. I was expecting them to be a bit bigger however. They are smaller than a glasses cleaning wipe for those that have used them.

  1. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind?

Yes, it did. However, if these were made in a bigger size too it would be even better being able to use them on surfaces and in the car for additional peace of mind.

  1. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?

Yes, definitely, although I haven’t seen the price yet! I have told others about them already.
Thank you for the sample.

  1. Which items or surfaces did you use LiquidNano’s SteriWipes on? Mobile, bannister, door handles, laptop. Which did you find the wipes most useful for? None
  2. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes? Tiny! On electronics they felt too wet even after the two minutes. Too small to use properly on bigger items. Wanted to use on bin.
  3. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Felt like using a wet epitope but not knowing if they worked. Did using them encourage peace of mind? No
  4. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others? Not in this format.

Which did you find the wipes most useful for?
- Mainly on door handles, phones/tables and light switches

  1. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?

  • Brilliant idea, love the concept. Too small though, I found them quite fiddly to use

  1. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind?

  • Definitely; I spent a good deal of time wondering whether they were still working on the surface I'd wiped...

  1. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?

  • Yes, particularly if they were slightly larger

I used them on phones, pushchair handles, steering wheel, door handles. I particularly liked them for my phone and pushchair.

  1. What were your overall thoughts on the Wipes? They felt nice and moist so but they were a bit small so a bit hard to use.

  1. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind? They did give peace of mind. They are handy to have especially as they are individually wrapped.

  1. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others? I would recommend them to others and buy them if they weren't too expensive.

  1. Which items or surfaces did you use LiquidNano’s SteriWipes on? Which did you find the wipes most useful for? I used it on handles, kitchen surfaces and work ID's (work in a hospital). Not for large areas as there aren't many in a pack.
  2. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?

Fine, nothing mindblowing. Not sure that I would be convinced about their long lasting properties.
  1. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind? Fine, but again, I wasn't testing if they actually were still antiviral after the number of days advertised.
  2. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?

Probably not, they look quite specialist when you have your standard antibac wipes at a lower price point (I assume!)

  1. Phones and keyboard
  2. The wipes were ok but too small to be practical. They could be more useful and used for more things if you could act6get them in a sensible size.

3.I'd use them if I was going back to the office and using the keyboard/mouse there
  1. No - I wouldn't buy these. A bigger version perhaps...

  1. We used them in mobile phones, door handles, pram handles, light switches
  2. We liked the packaging. Liked the individual wrapping and like that they were pocket sized so handy to keep in your pocket

3 I felt reassured using them that it was helping to protect surfaces. The children enjoyed using them too made them feel secure
4 I would buy them again they are compact and give piece of mind

  1. I used them on mobile phones, tablets, door handles, light switches and taps/flushes.

  1. My overall thoughts were that they seem like a fantastic idea. My only criticism was that they are small and fiddly, although they are strong and went a lot further than I anticipated they would. They are definitely not going to be suitable to do all the kitchen surfaces and dining table etc due to the small size, although I suppose those areas are frequently cleaned anyway.

  1. I feel that they did give me peace of mind. I usually antibac my phone a couple of times a day, but kept remembering I didn't need to.

I even gave a couple to my mum to do her phone and tablet as she is vulnerable so wanted the peace of mind that hers were protected too.

  1. I would definitely buy again, especially if any of my family had a sickness bug, as I constantly feel the need to bleach the door handles and light switches when people are vomiting.

Many thanks to Mumsnet for the invitation to take part in this product trial.

1. Which items or surfaces did you use LiquidNano’s SteriWipes on? Which did you find the wipes most useful for?
Mobile phones, door handles, glass table surface, etc.

2. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?
It appeared to clean surfaces upon use, but sceptical about it's 7-day continuous protection claim as the surfaces got dirty on contact as per normal.

3. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind?
It does not reassure any more than any other antibacterial wipe, so it will come down to price when the product goes on general sale.

4. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?

Tablets, my phone, door handles

  1. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?

They were very small, I'm not sure how effective they were obviously but they were easy to use.

  1. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind?

Possibly, I'm not sure I feel confident that they protect surfaces for 7 days as it just seems such a long time. But I felt happier using something to sanitise my electronic devices that were safe to use on them.

  1. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?

I'm not too sure or honest, possibly if they were reasonably priced.

Loved these!

  1. Which items or surfaces did you use LiquidNano’s SteriWipes on? Which did you find the wipes most useful for?

I used them on phones, tablets, car keys, door handles and gear stick of car.

  1. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?

Loved them! Great concept, strong and not overpowering in smell, perfect for popping in handbag and using when out and about. Just wish they did a pack of large size ones as I cld see myself using them lots were I to purchase them.

  1. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind?

I found it reassuring to have something that would not only clean the item at the time, but confer some protection in the coming days to repel germs / harmful bacteria. I liked that it did not need to be used daily, and that it left no smears on products such as phones and tablets. As others have mentioned, the fact that the protective benefits last for 7 days means that I felt better about the environmental effects of using them. Equally it could easily become a once weekly routine - ie on a Sunday - to give key items a quick clean with the wipes.

  1. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?

Yes definitely - assuming they were a reasonable price.

  1. Which items or surfaces did you use LiquidNano’s SteriWipes on? Which did you find the wipes most useful for?

High touch areas, such as door handles, the flush on the loo.

  1. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?

I liked that they were very moist, so that they could be used for a bigger area than I would have thought from the size. I was surprised at how small they were though. I don't mind the smell, it was reassuringly "clinical".
One small point, but annoying, the indentations on the packaging to separate the two wipes didn't always work well, and I sometimes ripped open the packet accidentally.

  1. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind?

I think so, but it's so hard with these things, as there is no way of knowing whether they are working or not. I wish I knew what "AMST E2180" actually meant! It's not explained on the packaging at all, just presented as though it's a "good thing".

  1. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?

It depends on the price, sorry. I think I would be keen to use them if someone in the house came down with norovirus, for example, but I would only use them as part of my regular cleaning routine if they were competitively priced.

  1. Which items or surfaces did you use LiquidNano’s SteriWipes on? Which did you find the wipes most useful for?

Mobile phones, door handles, bannisters, kitchen counter, taps.
  1. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?

Very small! And I wasn’t keen on the individual packaging or chemically smell. But impressed that they have such a long-lasting effect on pathogens.
  1. How did you feel about using SteriWipes?

Did using them encourage peace of mind?
In terms of reducing the risk of infection from frequently touched surfaces they definitely encouraged peace of mind. However they were fiddly to use and the whole process took a bit longer than I expected. My main concern is the level of chemical residue and the environmental impact of regular use.
  1. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?

Probably wouldn’t buy for the reasons stated in 3.

2. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?**
The wipes were very small and therefore quite tricky to use, I didn't even attempt to cover any larger surface areas as I don't think they'd have been suitable.

3. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind?
Psychologically I think there was definitely a benefit to feeling that these high-use surfaces were protected.

4. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?
Not at the moment, but maybe in future if they bring out a bigger size.

1. Which items or surfaces did you use LiquidNano’s SteriWipes on? Which did you find the wipes most useful for?

I used them on the computer, mouse, remotes, mobiles and door handles! I also used them in the car on the steering wheel and sent some to work with my husband. I found them extremely useful when my husband was at work as he used them on the communal mouse and handles in communal areas, they are great, portable and one wipe goes a long way!

2. What were your overall thoughts on the wipes?

I was really impressed with them, they didn’t have a very strong smell and didn’t irritate my hands by using them, I have quite sensitive skin and I’m conscious about using chemical things (like bleach) whilst pregnant but these didn’t feel ‘dangerous’

3. How did you feel about using SteriWipes? Did using them encourage peace of mind?

Absolutely, I felt much more confident using the surfaces and also my children using surfaces and handles after they had been cleaned.

4. Would you buy the wipes in future, or recommend them to others?

I definitely would, I was really impressed with this product trial and glad to find something in these times that put my mind at ease
