I like the compromise between health and flavour. My kids would always opt for white bread given the choice. I like brown. This worked for everyone.

Yes. I really enjoy Warburtons anyway and this is the quality I expect from them.

I had it as toast and my DS had it as a sandwich for his packed lunch.

I liked it, it compared well to our usual brand of 50/50. DS didn’t really have an opinion but his lunch box was cleared so we’ll call it a success

It toasted well. The extra vitamin D was a bonus. I also like that DS doesn’t realise it’s half whole meal so there’s no arguments.

We use a lot of wraps. A 50/50 wrap would be great!

We had it as toast, for sandwiches and made cheese toasties with it.

Was easy to cut up for the toddler- not too many crumbs and didn’t squish down too much.

Maybe 50/50 wraps would be good, or warburtons tortilla wraps

Multiple ways - we had it as toast for breakfast, made up for sandwiches and we also made our homemade garlic bread by smothering it with garlic butter and toasting it.

Really enjoyed it! I commented to my husband about how tasty it was and that it tasted like ‘old fashioned’ bread in the sense that it had real bread flavour and texture.

The taste! Much better than the usual ‘plastic bread’ that seems to be so readily available.

1. I used it for toast at breakfast and also as sandwiches in the kids' packed lunches

1. I really liked it. I was softer than full wholemeal bread. The kids are their sandwiches without complaint and would usually turn their noses up at wholemeal so this was a success.

1. I liked the flavour and the fact that the bread held it's shape when buttered. It was a decent thickness.

I've tried to follow instructions on this one but failed miserably. The 50/50 loaf is supposed to be available in Asda but I've been now to 3 different ones near me on multiple occasions and it wasn't being stocked. No shelf edge label to suggest it was sold out.

I did try the 50/50 thins instead. We normally buy Asda white own brand thins. The warbies ones were lovely and my DS didn't notice the extra fibre. Great for lunchboxes now we're back to school and passed the taste test. Will keep an eye out for the loaves as I'm still keen to try them.

1. What did you and your family think of Warburtons Half White Half Wholemeal bread? I thought it tasted more like a whole meal loaf then a 50-50 loaf even the colour was more brown like whole meal bread.

We had toast for breakfast & sandwiches for lunch. I also flattened the bread and put a frankfurter in, added cheese and ketchup, rolled it up and fried it 😂

I would like to see Warburtons mini brioche and flatbreads - especially the larger, rectangular, super soft ones! Yummy! What about half and half crumpets? I do love a good crumpet!!!!

Firstly I initally struggled to find Warburtons Half and Half, it seems most of my local shops have a promotion on Hovis Half and Half at the moment.

1. How did you try Warburtons Half White Half Wholemeal bread? Perhaps you made a sandwich or had some toast for breakfast?

I had it toasted and my daughter had it in a sandwich.

1. What did you and your family think of Warburtons Half White Half Wholemeal bread?

I enjoyed it toasted and I believe it will be good in sandwiches too, however my daughter didn't like it spotting it wasn't white bread straight away.

I liked that it had a more robust texture than white bread.

Yes providing your family are not fussy.

I still haven't managed to find this bread in my local shops. And I can't drive so if its not in walking distance I'm not going there. Shame. I was looking forward to trying it :(

I love the idea of wholemeal but find it too tiring and heavy... white bread is delicious but evil, so this is a happy compromise.

We had toast for breakfast (a firm favourite in This house!) and sandwiches for lunch.

I really liked it! I usually eat whole meal but have to buy two loves as my son doesn’t like it. I gave him this with no comment and he initially asked for his normal bread, but was persuaded to try a bit. He ate half his sandwich the first day and all of his toast the next, so a rave review from him!

I like that it’s healthier but still appealed to my son.

I would yes, it’s a great way to introduce a healthier alternative to someone who has previously refused whole meal bread as it’s ‘Tully’s

I think the range of products is really good, but more wholemeal/healthier varieties across all the products would be great!

First of all, it was quite difficult to find this - I tried Morrison's and (small) Asda, plus Ocado, with no success, before finally finding it in Tesco.

I had toast, made a peanut butter and jam sandwich for DS1. DS2 just ate a plain slice!

Warburtons already make the best crumpets,maybe they could branch out to bagels.

We had a bit of trouble getting the bread as it was initially sold out in both our local Tescos. However it was back in stock on Monday evening.

We had toast with jam for breakfast and egg mayonnaise sandwiches at lunch time.

It was lovely. It made good crispy toast and was fresh and soft for the sandwiches.

Everyone liked it we have Hovis best of both usually and it was fairly similar

That its not dry, its a nice texture. Not too dense for the kids. Also very pleased when packaging is actually recyclable

Naan bread and wraps

Getting in just under the wire. Really struggled to source it. Not in lidl (didn’t expect it there but it’s my usual shop), co-op, Sainsburys or Asda. Finally got the second last loaf in the massive Tesco warehouse which I had to travel specially to get. Though it was only 65p there so can’t complain really.

I made the kids a crisp sandwich for after school. It was just for quickness to try it out but it is a favourite treat.
I’ve also made sandwiches for tomorrow’s packed lunches.

Dc liked it. Said it was an excellent crisp sandwich (which I think you need a thin slice for). I think it looks great for a late night slice of toast with butter and jam.

1. What did you like most about Warburtons Half White Half Wholemeal bread?

I like the fact it’s capable of being a down and dirty white slice but you can feel a little less guilty because it’s got a bit of wholemeal and extra vitamins added. I also like warburtons wax paper packaging. I’m not sure if it’s very green, but it has to be better than a plastic bag for environmental reasons and, for freshness, it never smells vinegary when it gets a little past it’s best like a plastic bagged loaf does.

Definitely. Perfect packed lunch sliced bread.

I think another tester mentioned this earlier in the thread but, a loaf which is split into 2 different types of bread for eg half and half and a seeded sliced loaf.
Either that or a loaf with half the slices in but a full size slice. I hate those teeny tiny half size loafs not least because it’s more crust than bread. Not a new invention but it’s not usually this type of loaf.

Thanks for the opportunity to test it. If it gets stocked in a supermarket closer to home, I’ll definitely buy it again.

It was mainly used for toast or toasted sandwiches.

It was nice although the children said they preferred the Warburton Toastie loaf!

It is the health benefits that I really like. I'm aware that white bread isn't the healthy choice but the kids are so fussy that the whole family has ended up eating white bread. I also really like the packaging.

Yes, it is a good compromise between taste and nutrition.

Something like a healthier or fortified crumpet, muffin or scotch pancake as my kids eat a lot of those too. Definitely cheese muffins which seem to be the current favourite.

I had a Brie and bacon toasted sandwich

My husband and I liked it. Our daughter loved it and wants it again.

I liked that it is enriched with vitamins.

I can't think of any. There already seems to be quite a variety on offer.

They thought it was fine

I liked that it had some wholemeal in it, and the extra vitamins and calcium - my children love 'naughty' white plastic bread (we usually make our own wholemeal seeded, so white sliced is a treat for them!)

Yes

Maybe some sourdough?

The other thing I would say is that it was very difficult to track down - I had tried our local Sainsburys, Asda, Waitrose, Co Op, Spar and mini Tesco with no luck.
