This is the feedback thread for the 120 MNers with at least one child aged 0 to 13 who have been testing Cushelle Facial tissues.

Here’s what Cushelle have to say: “In 2019 Cushelle entered the facial tissue category with a brand-new range of products. Not only are the Cushelle Facial tissues irresistibly soft, they offer a unique point of being washing machine resistant. The tissues are so strong that they will stay intact even if accidently washed, leaving no fluffy residue on clothing.”

Testers, please answer the following questions:

  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
  2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
  3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

All testers who leave their feedback on the thread below and via the survey will be entered into a prize draw where 3 lucky testers will each win a £100 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?

Can I firstly say that these tissues could not have arrived at a better time...my daughter and husband were coughing and spluttering when they arrived followed by myself and my son this weekend. Daughter said JUST on picking the tissue out of the box (no face/nose contact) how soft they are. They really are too. I am very impressed. They seem to have helped us in not getting red noses too!

Also on a side note both my daughter and son love the packaging... the koala on the box!

  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

I have had plenty of tissue washing machine/dryer issues. I would like to think that it could help to prevent them as they are thicker than the average tissue.

  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

Very, very soft. Please see my comments on point 1 too. I have always been a bit "tight" with purchasing tissues (as in buying cheap ones)... as aforementioned we all missed the awful red noses this cold round so have realised that somethings are worth the investment.

Well done cushelle and thanks to you mumsnet for selecting me

1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues? Good quality and gentle on our skin - 2/3 of my children plus myself all have had heavy colds!
2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this? Funnily enough we’ve not had any tissue avec washing machine disasters since testing the Cushelle Tissues, but if they don’t disintegrate into a irritating mess I’d be happy.
3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season? We found them to
be very soft. My eldest has Autiism and he actually took one pack of the pocket tissues with him to school and used the cube for during night - high praise!

  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
I thought they were extremely soft and durable. I often suffer from sinus issues in the winter and blow my nose on waking up. These tissues were a pleasure to use!
  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

Yes I have had many tissue washing incidents and have not tested these but if they stay intact in the wash then that’s another positive!

  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

I thought they were very soft and would definitely want to use them if suffering from a bad cold.

  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
The whole family really like them. They are soft and strong and we like the box too. We haven't had any washing machine incidents but it is reassuring to know these would be ok if/when it happens
  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
Yep I've spent a LOT of time in the past picking tiny bits of tissue from clothes. Sure it will happen again in the future, but hope it's one of these tissues which it happens with!
  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
Very soft and had a pleasant smell, we arent fans of the balsam ones! Yes I think they would be nice to use during a heavy head cold.

Thank you for allowing us the chance to rey these

Schumann · 04/02/2020 16:17
  1. They seemed a good quality, nice to use.
  2. Lots of washing machine disasters due to other members of my household leaving them in pockets. So these are a good idea. But what is the environmental impact?
  3. Yes they are very soft, would be happy to use these next time I have a cold.

I can't get past the name and keep reading facial and feacal.

MRex · 04/02/2020 16:24

Sorry, failed to see the questions!

  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?Nice. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't say they're compostable. That's either an error in the packaging or failing to recognise the importance of environmental impact, either way it should be addressed.
  2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this? A couple of times. No idea if they would help, it's not a selling point for me.
  3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season? They're nice and soft, not quite as soft as balsam tissues but close enough for all but the worst colds.
Bert2e · 04/02/2020 16:48

The tissues were soft but had a slightly plastic feel which we didn't like. I'm concerned about what the tissues are made of though and if they don't disintegrate there should be a warning on the box not to flush them. I'm not sure my water company would appreciate all the extra clogging incidents they may cause.

I washed one on purpose just to see what happened and it survived just fine but this isn't really a selling point for me and was outweighed by my environmental concerns.

  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?

Really nice, quite soft and very strong. I liked the packaging.

  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

Yes! I think the strength of these would prevent a washing disaster

  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

Yes I’d buy these again but perhaps not for heavy colds as I do have a preferred brand for when the snot season strikes!

hanliying · 04/02/2020 18:08
  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues? They are very soft and the right size.
  2. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this? No having one so far
  3. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season? Yes very soft and totally great for children’s skin
Schmoozer · 04/02/2020 18:37
  1. I really liked them !!! Lovely packaging
Very soft
  1. Yes I’ve had tissue laundry issues !! Be great to minimise the risk of future mishaps !!
  2. Tissues so soft, I would happily use them in cold illnesses, and have less red sore nose skin !!
AllNewThings · 04/02/2020 18:39

Mine haven't arrived @MNHQ

Holyshitbags · 04/02/2020 18:39
  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
Firstly, I am not generally a tissue buyer, we aren’t a sneezy or snotty family really so never really found the need for them. However, my little girls ADORED the box, and are currently fighting over who will have it when the tissues are gone. I loved the way his little koala arms folded out from the box itself! The tissues themselves are perfect for little ones - in size and softness - we have used them slightly more than I expected - and they work well for a quick lick and wipe 😂😂
  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this? These tissues don’t seem as fibrous as other tissues - I’m not about to test the theory though as my husband wears a lot of black and I don’t fancy brushing it down!!
  2. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
Very soft and I would use them during the cold season definitely!!
BristolMum96 · 04/02/2020 18:50

Testers, please answer the following questions:

  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?

Amazing. Really soft and kind to skin.

  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

Many times! And yes! Put a tissue in with an old towel on a wash, came out intact with no horrid bits stuck to the towel. I was really impressed.

  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

Incredibly soft and didn't feel harsh on skin. Will definitely be stocking up towards the next cold season.

SouthWestmom · 04/02/2020 19:07

Clarification:

I wouldn't buy the animal packaging for the sitting room (this was on the packets) but I would buy the normal cube again - see photo

  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?

I really enjoyed using Cushelle Facial Tissues. My children found the tissues to be much softer than the usual tissues we use.

  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

Yes, many times but Cushelle Facial Tissues are very strong and soft so I didn't experience any washing machine mishaps.

  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

They are very soft and have been really useful this winter, as the whole family have had colds and lergies, so the children weren't complaining about sore noses etc.

DownRightAmazing · 04/02/2020 19:59
  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
I'm a cheapskate with snotty kids so I usually buy value tissues - these were gorgeous, so soft and thick. They were very gentle and absorbent. The kids loved them.
  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
Ah, so many. DH is as bad as the kids 😂 it sounds good if they can survive the wash and avoid a disaster BUT I have serious concerns about what this means for their environmental impact
  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
Soooo soft, they were lovely. I would happily use them during cold season (which is all year long in our house) if they were an acceptable price and if I was satisfied that they weren't worse for the planet than our regular tissues...
Dizzywizz · 04/02/2020 20:34
  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
I thought they were soft, as good as the leading brand. The fact they don’t disintegrate in the wash is a bonus
  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
I have had once or twice, and yes it would be avoided with Cushelle, however it isn’t a big enough problem to make me buy these unless the price was cheapest
  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season? Yes very soft. And I would get them in cold season if the price was good
We3kingsoforientareandabump · 04/02/2020 20:49
  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?

I found them really strong and also soft. I also found one lasted a bit longer than the tissues I would usually use probably because they're a bit stronger.

  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

With 4 boys at home we've had many a tissue find its way into the washing machine. To be honest my husband is just as bad for this. It did t happen with any of these ones though so I can't really comment on that.

  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

They were really soft. I've been full of cold while we've been trying them as has my husband and my youngest. We've not had a sore nose from using these and because they are so soft by 1.5yr old actually didn't kick off about having his nose wiped 👍

llewejk · 04/02/2020 21:10
  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
They are so soft. My little one had a cold when we received them so they have been a god send. Super soft!
  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
Yes only last week! Hopefully these won't be so messy, but I would rather not try!
  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
They were the softest I have used for sure. I will definitely buy again during colds and all the time.
AddictedToRadley · 04/02/2020 21:16
  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
Absolutely loved them! As soon as you pull the first tissue from the box you can tell it is a premium product. I loved how strong they were and how soft they were without the need for the balm that stops your nose getting sore with constant wiping/nose blowing but which also stops the tissue from being as absorbent. Cushelle have outdone everything already on the market in my opinion!
  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
I’ve had many a tissue-washing disaster and whilst this is annoying at the time it is not something that I would think about when shopping for a tissue. For me the biggest selling point for the tissues is the fact that you can wipe your nose excessively at the peak of a cold and not get a painful red nose like with other tissues. The only tissues that don’t do this are coated in a balsam which means they lose their absorbency.
  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
Unbelievably soft. They were silky and felt more like a quality handkerchief than a disposable tissue. We used them whilst we were all full of cold and DD (5) had a very bad cold (some would call it flu but it wasn’t) and we would definitely use them again. I may buy cheaper tissues as well to use alongside these because you get 90 sheets for less than £1 but these would be the only tissues I would buy for a continuous runny nose to stop the painful red noses from over wiping.

As an aside I would rethink the 3D koala. I have to admit that I didn’t see the koala to start with and assumed that other Mumsnet reviewers had been given different box designs but when I turned the box around and looked at the back I saw the 3D design. I didn’t say anything to anyone else but just left them on the side to gauge reactions and everyone from my DM (70), DH (49), DS (11) and even DD (5) looked at the koala and saw boobs!! My DS even commented on why the nipples had to be in such a bright red (they were actually arrows not nipples!!) and DD was awwing over how cute the teddy was that wanted a cuddle then she stopped and said ‘but why does it have boobies mummy? Does that mean it’s a girl teddy?’ I’m not sure whether your designer was having a laugh or not Gin Wine but why it needs such large circles around the hands especially with the arrows I’m not sure. It was always going to look like boobs! I MUCH prefer the other side for a cute but not childish design. Hmmmm rethink on the packaging needed!! Hmm Grin

hmariez · 04/02/2020 21:29

What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
The tissues were soft and kind to the skin, the design of the box was appealing, my girls actually wanted to use them to wipe their nose, instead of their sleeves or my jumper/trouser leg etc.

  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

Yes we’ve had many tissues end up in the wash, as a family of 5, washing clothes has become a daily monotonous chore, so finding shreds of tissues within all the clothes is quite painful.

  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

They were amazingly soft, I find some tissues can irritate my daughters skin but these were fantastic.

Thank you for the opportunity of trying out these tissues :) xx

  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
We really like them. They are incredibly strong, and my 6 year old is having a phase of holding on to a balled-up tissue until it basically disintegrates, but that didn’t happen with these. They were also very useful for me to take with while I’m at the stables - the cold wind makes my nose stream (sorry if that’s TMI Grin) and usually the only thing that will stand up in my pockets are bits of kitchen roll, but these were fabulous.
  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?
My daughter is an absolute nightmare for tissues in her pockets, which is why I signed up for this trial. I even did the unthinkable and did a trial wash of darks with one carefully placed tissue on the top, and another hidden in a pocket.... there was nothing. No sign that a tissue had been in there at all. For the record they also tumble dry lol.
  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?
I’m not sure I’m prepared to give up my balm tissues during cold season, we all tend to suffer really badly with sore noses (the small person in particular usually ends up bleeding it’s that bad) but these are a brilliant everyday tissue I think. I’m quite annoyed that we’ve nearly finished the box - it means I’ll need to get some more now!

I will say though that there are more than one designs for the boxes - we received them purple and gold box, which while it doesn’t match our front room at all, it’s nice and grown up. However myself and my husband are massive children, so when we buy a couple of boxes of these best time we go shopping, we will DEFINITELY get the spotty boxes with the koala on!! Grin

  1. What did you think of Cushelle Facial Tissues?
We use loads of different types of tissue for different things: Kleenex Balsam for nose blowing/wiping Sainsbury's cube for my dressing table Sainsbury's travel for my handbag/the car Sainsbury's basics for the kitchen table (slight spills, dirty fingers)

Cushelle are better quality than all of them except Kleenex Balsam. If Cushelle made plastic travel bags (not pocket ones. I find they are difficult to get out in a hurry) like Sainsbury's travel I would swap to them. I would use them on my dressing table and the kitchen table.

  1. Have you ever had a tissue-related washing disaster? Do you think Cushelle Facial Tissues would help you avoid this?

Oh crikey yes! My eldest daughter has nose bleeds so if she's going through a speight I'll give her a chunk of them...which inevitably end up in the washing machine!!!

  1. How soft did you think Cushelle Facial Tissues were? Would you want to use them during cold season?

They were softer than my cube, travel and basics but not as soft as Kleenex Balsam. I'd use them if they were nearest in cold season but Kleenex Balsam genuinely stops red noses so I'd be loathe to swap.
