Zodus, a behavioural science start up, is looking to test their problem-solving game and is looking for Mumsnetters who are 45+ to test the simulation game. The testing will involve playing a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 rounds of the game (each round takes 2-3 minutes) 5 times over a 2 month period. You will not have to play all rounds in one session, you can resume at any time during the test period. In total, it will take about 2 hours of your time (over the 2 month period).

Here’s what Zodus has to say: “FutureSpace is a gamified simulation that captures decision-making in problems similar to retirement. FutureSpace invites players to set goals and then challenges achievements of these with different scenarios of news, events and opportunities. Zodus’ ambition is to help organisations design policies, products and services that work with the grain of human nature.”

If you’re selected, you will be sent a link to the game and will be asked to complete a minimum of 25 rounds over the course of a 2 month period. We will also send you detailed instructions. There will be no feedback thread on Mumsnet.

MNers who meet the minimum requirement of 5 rounds in each test will receive a £20 voucher and will also be entered into a prize draw and one person will receive a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Please sign up here if you’d like to take part.

Thanks and good luck!

In presuming so. I reported a technical difficulty within the first few days. After the clarification message about the data stuff, I assumed someone would be in touch with me to help resolve my problem. I'm still waiting so presume no-ones going to bother now.
I'm pretty disappointed with how this one has been handled.

aristocat · 04/02/2019 21:42

Same here, I cannot play the game either. I did contact MNHQ and still waiting to hear back.

Pandasarecute · 04/02/2019 22:15

I've never managed to get on ! Contacted mumsnet HQ but no response, is this trial abandoned?

aristocat · 04/02/2019 22:28

Pandas
I don't know, I was posting to ask really as had no reply to the emails & it seems to be a mess.
I'd reported my post so hopefully MNHQ can enlighten us Smile

I asked to be removed from the trial, and for confirmation that all my data had been deleted. I have been waiting since January 18th for confirmation Shock

Despite asking to be removed from the trial, an email arrived yesterday asking me to take part in the next round, starting today. It also included an analysis of data gathered so far, which I have to say appeared entirely meaningless to me. Presumably my data is still in there, and no-one has bothered to remove me from the trial. What a cock-up by MN and Zodus really.

Riotingbananas · 05/02/2019 12:24

And presumably there'll be no £20 voucher for me despite wasting time trying to sort everything out Grin

SouthWestmom · 06/02/2019 07:44

So essentially the feedback is that accessing the game is impossible from various platforms and for those that do, the game itself is over complicated and difficult to understand?
I did get as far as the controls section and was overwhelmed by the number and what you were expected to do - keep a rocket flying? I was anticipating MENSA style games

Riotingbananas · 06/02/2019 11:13

I see that all feedback is now going to be private - I wonder why Grin

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 06/02/2019 18:07

Ive only just logged into the "game" as ive been away
Was a bit taken aback by all the questions when I satarted, some of which i didnt even know the answers to
However I cant get the game to work on my ipad, or my imac so I'm not able to participate anyway. From the above posters who have managed to play it, it doesnt look like im missing much!

SouthWestmom · 06/02/2019 19:41

I've had emails suggesting I haven't played any games and responded asking them to check this thread. Has anyone had an acknowledgement of the difficulties?

Fretfulparent · 06/02/2019 20:39

I had a go at playing the game for the first time today and can't understand the game purpose at all. Hated all the money questions to begin with and feel totally tricked.

butterflymum · 06/02/2019 22:21

@Riotingbananas

I have had similar experience to you.

Could not understand why I have had two emails today about not having taken part so far and taking part in next round, yet I was one of early ones on this thread raising concerns, and because of the concerns, emailed mumsnet and asked to be removed from the trial, yet never had any response.

Flapdoodles · 06/02/2019 22:25

I can't seem to get it to work tonight. I have tried several times, got as far as the Mission Goal Selection and it will not continue. I have made the choices and 'continue' is highlighted but it refuses to progress. I am using Chrome and it worked fine on there for the first round.

I will try again tomorrow but wondered if anyone else is having issues tonight?

butterflymum · 06/02/2019 22:32

@JustineBMumsnet

Please see recent comments above from various members. We are confused as to why those of us who requested to be removed from the trial, as we had genuine concerns about it, are now receiving follow up emails about starting the game etc., as if nothing of what we have said previously has even registered with mumsnet as being an issue.

I'm sure several, like myself, are Mumsnetters of numerous years, and have concerns that pulling out of this trial (even although our requests to do so weren't acknowledged and we are receiving further email promts to start the game), will affect our being considered for future trials. Hopefully this will not be the case, as the decision to pull out was made out of genuine concern about the nature of questions and format of game.

Perhaps you can ensure the Insight team act on our emails of last month and remove those of us who requested removal, as well as offer assurances that our eligibility to be considered for future trials fom other companies, will not be negatively affected.

starlingsintheslipstream · 09/02/2019 17:57

Is the link to the private thread broken? I'm getting a message that the topic doesn't exist.

SouthWestmom · 09/02/2019 22:22

I've just emailed the contact us email address.

Epanoui · 10/02/2019 00:24

The private thread doesn't work. The game is awful and makes no sense. Nothing you do seems to adequately alter the output of the game and the fact that you can't see what your previous tries and scores were means that you can't learn from previous attempts to alter the next one. Not sure what is being scored or what use this is to the company, but I gave it a few goes with fake data and was not impressed. I'm probably not going to bother to try it again.

WindsfromtheNE · 10/02/2019 00:33

It's interesting that others who have withdrawn from the trial are also still receiving emails. I was told it was because I had registered twice. I definitely hadn't. Also the part of my email requesting confirmation that my data had been removed as requested and wasn't included in the distributed data was completely ignored in the response from Mnet. I'm considering taking this further now.

SouthWestmom · 10/02/2019 09:24

I've had a response to say they are contacting the insight team after my email so that's good.

PurpleWithRed · 10/02/2019 09:30

I withdrew from the game for the same reason as lots of others have cited - too complicated, boring, not something I wanted to waste my time or brain doing - and also had an email reminder, but when I queried this I quickly got a 'sorry' back from Mumsnet.

I wonder who devised the 'game' - it seems more like something my kids would have played back in 1990 than something for a mature adult in 2019.

MonaChopsis · 10/02/2019 12:47

Another one who tried to do this and found it to hard from a mobile. I'll also withdraw.

EggysMom · 10/02/2019 17:35

I withdrew; had an email confirming my withdrawal. I then got the reminder email, so replied to say I had withdrawn, no response.

SouthWestmom · 10/02/2019 18:34

At least we all seem to be thinking the same

butterflymum · 12/02/2019 09:47

@EggsyMom

I withdrew on 15th January, had no acknowledgement from insight panel. Like you, I then had reminder email, and responded to that saying I had withdrawn on 15th January. Again, no response.

Also no response to my request earlier in thread (6th February) to @JustineBMumsnet (although she has no doubt been busy with other recent site issues).

This whole 'trial experience', for me at least, has been once of the most poorly handled/responded to ones in all my numerous years on Mumsnet.
